I asked the person booking the room if I had reached the front desk at the hotel directly, and he told me I had. As a result I had to pay in full in advance, at a higher rate (I was not allowed discounts from AAA OR AARP), there was a non cancellation policy clause (fortunately I didn't have to cancel), and I didn't get my Best Western rewards.
Booked 3 rooms and got instant confermation,
Hope the rest of the transaction goes smoothly when the rooms are provided and the vacation is complete
Our Get A room Agent misbooked our room. We needed 2 Queens, yet got 2 Doubles. It was an uncomfortable nights stay.
Get a room reached out to us and were very apologetic and made the situation right.
I'm confident the agent will be taught the difference between Double and Queen
Thank you Get A room! Mistakes happen... how you handle it is what counts!
Very good customer service!
Please stay away. You think you are on the hotels website but you are not. They quote rates and when you submit card details they add fees of 181 pounds sterling. You cant cancel as you will not get a refund. This should not be allowed to happen as they have been scamming people for years.
Booked two rooms both with double beds through Getaroom. I called the hotel to discuss a different matter and when they looked up my reservation, they informed me that I was booked for King beds in each room. Should be an easy fix right? Wrong! I've called numerous times to be hung up on twice. I had to submit an online request to try and get this resolved and it's still not. I have people flying in from overseas and these people can't even begin to help. I never use third party sited because of this and now I'm panicking.
After booking my hotel with the site, they failed to pay the hotel. The hotel collected my credit card at check-in like all hotels do. When the hotel didn't get paid, they charged my card. Now getaroom.com will not give me my money back that they did NOT pay the hotel. This is theft! It's over $750! They keep telling me it's "with accounting" or they say that the case # they gave me is not for them! It's a complete scam and customer service is horrific!
I called your number Monday, April 22 with a very straightforward, simple request: to extend by one night a previous reservation I made Nov. 26 at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Niagara Falls-Fallsview. This seemed to baffle the two or perhaps even three agents with whom I spoke, although after 34 minutes, 49 seconds I was told everything was taken care of. The next day, confirmed today by my credit card company, I was charged for the two days I had already paid for, two additional days NOT what I requested and a third charge for three days that included the two previously paid for. The total amount mis-charged was $3052. 56! Today I called the hotel reservations desk, having cancelled all three reservations your people screwed up, and started from scratch. I was told by someone at "getaroom" that I would be getting a full refundbut frankly I have no confidence whatsoever that will happen
You directed me to your site when I tried to go directly to the Renaissance Hotel and never identified yourself as GetARoom, which I discovered after booking. Very unethical, I will be cancelling.
While searching on my smartphone for the website of a hotel I have stayed at many times over the years (Crowne Plaza Lake Placid), I opened the link that appeared to be the official hotel website. I had no reason to doubt that it was, as I am pretty experienced in web-searching, shopping, and making reservations, and I avoid any paid ad-sponsored sites. I got on the website, which had all the reservation features and made a week's stay at the hotel. Later, because other family would be coordinating a stay at the same time, I needed to change the reservation to the following week. Called the tel# in the emailed receipt and got a person calling from a noisy room, who never identified herself as being with "getaroom.com," and she said she could not change the reservation, but could cancel and rebook for one night stay fee. I objected, and she said to call the hotel directly to see if "they will waive the fee." I called hotel and she confirmed I had booked with a 3rd party provider, and I went back to emailed receipt and saw that it was getaroom.com. She said people often get tricked because their website simulates the hotel's and does not identify itself properly. She said to call getaroom and ask them to call her, as the hotel charges no change fee so far in advance of our stay (August; I reserved 4/20/2019. I realized that I had been scammed and called getaroom, talked with a different person, who said she could not waive the fee but offered a 10% discount on my bill. Getaroom had charged an extra $517.23 for "tax recovery charges and service fees." I said I wanted all my money back and said if they did not do this, I would file complaints with FTC, BBB, and online reviews and call my credit card company and cancel/dispute the charge. She would not accommodate, so I hung up and followed through. They don't get a dime! I tried to submit below my photo of receipt but it would not accept my jpg, png file, so I cannot
$41 room cost me 89$. Looked like direct website. I'm in contact with choice hotels to let them know I will not allow anyone in our companies to use choice hotels as long as they do business with scammer booking sites.
Discovering paiement in US dollars for a reservation made in Canada for a canadian hotel is disturbing. I don't care if your business is established in Cayman Islands, but showing a little deference to the country you do business in appears a legitimate policy and appropriate marketing.
If you go to a hotel site and it says "booked call this number", do not call. They prend to be associated with the hotel but they will charge you twice the amount which they call "Tax recovery charges & service fees". If your reservation begins with an R you will never get a refund and they will blatantly say "if you dispute it with your credit card our office will have to issue the credit"
I thought I booked a room at the Gaylord Opryland, in Nashville TN, when I tried to check in there was no reservation. They had booked the room at the Inn at Opryland, A Gaylord Hotel, and then refused to cancel the wrong booking. There email had in Red lettering Free Cancellation, when I asked they stated that the Hotel did not support that statement and offered to reduce my room at the wrong hotel 10% when I told them that I was registered at the right Hotel. I was contacted by the customer service folks and we found that we both had a communication problem and they were going to return my money There customer relation folks were very professional.
Looked like a direct booking from Best Western. Did not reveal they were a third party. Told me I could even use my Bonus points which was false. Took all my information and made me pay upfront. Tried to cancel and they hung up on me 4 times. Customer service transferred me over twice to a nonexistent line that hung up. Scam. Beware.
I booked a room through Getaroom and they advertised the room for $109.00 a night.
I was charged $171.46. I sent a email about this and was informed these were taxes and fees. I asked to see where they state this and never received an answer. I received a email 4 days before check in and was told I would receive a 10% refund. This is unacceptable. I would advise anyone who looks into Getaroom to keep looking. There are multiple legitimate sites out there. Getaroom charged me 57% above the advertised amount they listed. I will never use them again and will let everyone I know to stay away from Getaroom. Next email is to the Better Business Bureau.
This is a follow up to my previous review. After posting my review here, getaroom.com contacted me to refund $72 of the $80 in transaction fees charged for the 2 night hotel reservation, resulting in a very reasonable $8 transaction charge for booking the room through getaroom. Sometimes things go wrong. This was a great service recovery.
I fully acknowledge that in my haste to reserve a room last minute while on the road that I did not catch the $40/night transaction charge (excluding local taxes and fees) getaroom.com initially charged me when making the reservation until I saw the confirmation and it was too late. My negative review was for the customer service reaction to my complaint about the exorbitant charge. Getaroom's site made the reservation easy.
Would recommend you read the fine print carefully. In a hurry for a last minute reservation while traveling was pulled in by search engine marketing thinking I was reserving directly with the hotel. Was charged a $40/night transaction charge by getaroom for reserving a $110/night hotel room excluding taxes. Didn't realize until got confirmation. When contacted customer service was essentially told too bad. Had to prepay and last minute so couldn't cancel. Don't know why anyone would do business with such a company.
Get a Room is a nightmare to work with. First, they listed incorrect rates and wouldn't honor the rate we booked at, and had to refund our reservation. Then, a month later, I received an email confirmation for a booking made at a hotel in Europe that I never booked. Get a Room denies that they made a booking, but the hotel insists that Get a Room booked the room. Now we're dealing with the hotel, our credit card company, Get a Room, and the credit bureaus trying to keep what's looking like they fraudulently booked something under our name from hurting us.
Do yourself a favor and book with someone else. They have awful customer service and tech capabilities at best, and are running a scam operation at worst.
At time of reservation was told I had the option to cancel or modify the reservation up to two days before arrival. My plans changed. I called GetARoom customer care number, their phone tree options ask if you want to book new reservation, modify, or cancel. The rep I spoke with states they do not modify even though their company phone tree states that as an option. All they had to change was my arrival by one day later.
False Advertising and misleading! DO NOT RECOMMEND, TERRIBLE!
I was charged double the rate I would have received had I booked directly through the hotel.
The price they quoted on the phone was over $100 LESS than the charge that hit my credit card. Customer service emails do not address the stated concern nor do they provide a phone number for follow-up. I got the phone number off of my credit card statement and itwas one of the worst customer service interactions I've experienced.
When I originally booked I could not understand anything the person was saying because he had a heavy accent. When you book through them they charge you a cancellation fee. When I called to question they are so rude and when I asked for a supervisor they said no. She put me on hold without telling me and I think she wanted me to hang up. When she got back I told her how rude that was and she continued to do it. When I asked her name she said no and then said Reg which is probably a lie. I will never use them again.
Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.
Answer: Call 800-468-3578 but good luck. They are scammers
Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
