ORIGINAL POST: Listen to me and don't get sucked in by the low prices of this sorry excuse of a booking site... DO NOT USE THEM... EVER! There is a reason why this low rent org that operates from Singapore and Bangkok and has a Trust Pilot rating of 2. If you have ANY issues or problems, they will ignore helping you. Once they get your money, they are GONE! The paltry $1 or two lower price isn't worth it. You will regret using them... go to Expedia or another site that has a better reputation. Always remember, you get what you pay for. You have been warned.
UPDATE 07/02/26: It only gets worse people! The day after being told my reservation modification was not allowed, I was contacted by the property and informed I must pay a deposit at check in, then HOPE it is returned after I've paid it. This is the latest scam being done by many rental car and lodging companies. They charge you a "deposit" which forces you to track and remember to contact them later if they don't returned it. When they don't return it, you are forced to call and fight with AI bots or customer service agents who ignore you in am effort to get them to return THE MONEY THEY STOLE! And if you don't call, they keep it. I can't be any more clear, do not give this company access to your credit card or you will regret it. I will continue to repost this review to alert as many people as possible. RUN AWAY!
UPDATE #2: I was forced to threaten these scammers with negative follow-up posts to travel review site posts to force them to finally agree to provide a refund. And get this, they only agreed to return a PORTION of the CC charge, BUT, not in a credit back to my card, rather in AGODA CASH, which would force me to remember I had a credit with them and use it at a later date AND book thru their scammy website AGAIN! They actually tried to charge me a cancellation penalty fee for their own bait and switch nonsense! UNBELIEVABLE! I again insisted on going nuclear with my alert to others and only then did they finally agree to return all of my money. Lastly, the other underhanded thing they do is reply to reviews like mine and make it appear like there's nothing wrong... apologizing... or trying to turn the tables on the reviewer, as though it's their fault. If you don't have the patience or fortitude that I do, or want avoid the hours of hassles I dealt with, all due to their lowball $1-$2 discounts from the next highest travel site quote... AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS! You will regret it if things go south.
I made a hotel reservation through Agoda. My payment was successfully taken and the booking status shows as confirmed in Agoda's system.
However, the hotel has clearly confirmed to me that they do not have my reservation in their system at all. In other words, Agoda took my money for a reservation that does not exist on the hotel's side.
For several days, Agoda has been delaying the process by repeatedly sending the same "please wait 48 hours" message, without providing any real solution. Despite multiple follow-ups and clear written confirmation from the hotel, the issue remains completely unresolved.
With my check-in date approaching, this situation has created serious uncertainty and stress. Due to Agoda's failure to deliver the service I paid for, I have initiated a chargeback with my bank and started legal procedures.
This experience is unacceptable, and I strongly advise others to be extremely cautious when booking through Agoda.
Terrible, terrible, terrible! If I could give one star, I would! Firstly- when moving from the general Google search of hotels in am area for a specific date to the Agoda website, they will change the dates that you chose to search - be sure to triple triple check bc once booked they will not let you change dates!
Then the real kicker - booked a room thru Agoda, received the confirmation, and then try to contact the hotel for some specific inquiries, only to be told that the hotel does not accept any reservations from Agoda! Customer service is no help at all, the only thing they can say is, oh we can cancel the reservation for you, but no refund. Absolute scam of a company.
Agoda should NOT be used anywhere. In countries like India, Agoda will steal your money lock, stock, and barrel; do a phony scam investigation; and then, SURPRISE, will blame you!
This company is the lowest of the low. Their tagline? "All cheats, thieves, and fraudsters of the world unite! You must join us to learn how to Cheat and Run Ponzi schemes".
Here are 2 examples.
CASE 1: Lemon Tree Premier, Mandsaur, Madhya Pradesh. This hotel DOES NOT exist. It's most certainly not at the address on the listing. Listing address is incorrect with a mismatched address and pin code.
It's nowhere on the Lemon Tree official website, the listing has no phone number to call, sending email doesn't get any response, and clicking the hotel location on AGODA shows you a location in the middle of a paddy field in a remote village that has only a few two-story buildings. On Dec 15,2025 night we spent over three hours driving to this non-existent hotel and returning. Agoda should reimburse me $1000 for the time and expenses. Agoda has finally removed this hotel from its website but not offered any compensation.
Case 2: Parasnath Hills Hotel, Chetrudih, Jharkhand.
This hotel DOES NOT exist. It's most certainly not at the address on the listing. Listing address is incorrect. AGODA shows you a location in the middle of a mountain valley in a remote village that has only a few two-story buildings.
The listing has a phone number, and if you call it, the gentleman says that he gets calls like these regularly and has asked Agoda several times to refund, so Agoda has been playing this game for quite some time now. On Dec 27,2025 night we spent over five hours driving to this non-existent hotel and returning to another city 70 km away for the night stay (Dhanbad, Agoda booking #***********). Agoda's greed keeps FAKE, non-existent hotels on their website so they can illegally charge customers and make commissions. Perhaps Agoda is using such listings to launder money.
Because of this, I couldn't continue my pilgrimage and had to drive over 250 km in 2 days that I could have avoided.
I demand that (1) Agoda refund this FAKE hotel stay in full (booking #***********), (2) Agoda refund the entire replacement stay (booking #***********), (3) Agoda reimburse me $2000 for the time and expenses and disrupted pilgrimage, and (4) Agoda remove this hotel from their website IMMEDIATELY. As of writing this, Agoda has neither refunded, nor offered compensation, nor removed this hotel from its website, so beware booking any hotel in Jharkhand with Agoda.
Agoda air tickets booking have been my go to place since 2022 as it have been reliable and cheaper. I have over 40+ air tickets booking with them and all of them the PNR airline booking reference is able to search at official airline website. Here come one time I am not able to search it at airline website as I might need to add luggage for my return flight. Contacted customer service and find out they did a group booking and reassure me booking is confirmed and will be able only search it at airport counter which means I can notadd luggage myself and check in online. I also did a live chat with airline they also can't validate the booking.
I would like to warn everyone against using the Agoda website. It is the worst booking site I have ever come across, and I have already used many similar services.
On 18 November 2025, I wanted to book a hotel in Poznań. While searching for the best offers, I came across Agoda, which I had not used before. I was tempted by an attractive price and made a mistake that cost me a large amount of money. When I was making the reservation, Agoda kept suggesting new options, and in the end I chose one of them (reservation no. *******). Unfortunately, I did not notice that Agoda had changed the dates from the ones I originally selected: instead of a stay from the 22nd to the 23rd, the booking was from the 23rd to the 24th. I also failed to notice that the free cancellation option had disappeared. I made a mistake and confirmed this incorrect booking, accepting the terms. I admit it was my fault, caused by carelessness. However, when I tried to clarify the situation with Agoda, I encountered extremely unprofessional behaviour, completely different from what I have experienced with other similar platforms and intermediaries.
I immediately wrote to Agoda asking for an exception and a refund of the 200 PLN that had been charged to my card. I cancelled the reservation right away, so neither Agoda nor the hotel incurred any costs related to handling it. I did not block the room for anyone. Unfortunately, I could only contact an AI bot, which rejected my requests outright, referring me to the terms and conditions. Searching online, I found an email address for customer service and sent two emails explaining the misunderstanding and asking for a refund. Unfortunately, I received only automatic responses, which redirected me back to the AI bot. I have never encountered such unprofessional service and such an unfriendly attitude towards the customer. I strongly advise everyone against using this site, which is focused solely on maximising profit and squeezing as much money as possible out of its customers. DO NOT MAKE ANY BOOKINGS ON AGODA!. In addition, as I am a journalist, I promise to describe this website and its practices in detail in order to warn other people against using it.
🚨 Agoda is a total scam and a disgrace. They stole €95 from me for absolutely NOTHING — no booking, no service, no refund. My booking #*******036 for Hotel Serbia Garden (13–14 September) was never fulfilled, and yet they charged me and refused to return the money. After more than three weeks of pathetic "investigations" and endless, meaningless emails, they offered only empty apologies and zero solutions. This company is dishonest, incompetent, shameless, and greedy — their only goal is to take your money and run. Avoid Agoda like the plague. Use Booking.com or any other real platform — anything is better than this scammy, useless disaster of a company
I made a reservation through Agoda in July for a 5-day, 4-night stay at DoubleTree Suites by Hilton Phoenix.
When I arrived for check-in on October 6, I was informed that all rooms were fully booked and was told to move to another hotel for two nights before returning. I objected to this unfair situation, but DoubleTree staff claimed there was nothing they could do and directed me to stay at the Crowne Plaza Phoenix Airport – PHX, assuring me that DoubleTree would cover the cost.
Reluctantly, I stayed at the Crowne Plaza for two nights. However, the hotel and room were far below my expectations. The room I was provided (Standard Room, 1 King Bed) was of significantly lower grade compared to the one I originally booked at DoubleTree (1 X 1 Qn 1 Bdrm Ste Mobility Accessible Tub), and breakfast was not included. I also confirmed through Agoda that there was a substantial price difference between the two rooms.
When I returned to DoubleTree on October 8 to check in again, I filed a complaint about the unfair situation and requested a refund for the price difference between the two hotels. However, I was told that since I had booked through Agoda, DoubleTree could not take any action, and my request was denied.
The overbooking that caused this inconvenience is the fundamental issue, and the response I received from DoubleTree afterward was extremely poor. Despite having made my reservation three months in advance, I was still displaced to another hotel without a reasonable explanation. I formally requested clarification as to why I was selected to be relocated, but never received an appropriate answer.
I also submitted a formal complaint through Agoda regarding DoubleTree's unfair handling of the matter. However, Agoda did not act on behalf of the customer. Instead, Agoda merely forwarded DoubleTree's response or advised me to accept the situation as it was.
Each time I sent an email, a different Agoda representative replied, forcing me to repeat the same explanations over and over again. When I finally spoke with an Agoda representative by phone, the person spoke only from their perspective and abruptly ended the call while I was explaining my concerns — a completely unacceptable and unprofessional act.
I requested to speak with a responsible manager and asked for their contact information, but that request was ignored. It is deeply disappointing that Agoda, as an intermediary, failed to advocate for the customer or ensure that DoubleTree provided an appropriate resolution.
This entire experience — from overbooking, inadequate accommodation, lack of compensation, to poor communication — has left me extremely dissatisfied and frustrated.
My requests are as follows: 1. I would like to know the clear and specific criteria DoubleTree used to determine that I should be relocated to another hotel. 2. I would like to know how Agoda represented me as a customer and what claim was made to DoubleTree regarding the unfair treatment I experienced. 3. I request compensation for the exact price difference between the downgraded room at the Crowne Plaza and my original DoubleTree booking.
I request a sincere apology for the unacceptable behavior of the Agoda representative who abruptly ended our phone call, and for the overall poor customer service.
I booked a week-long stay at a hotel advertised on Agoda as "newly built," with a 4.6/5 rating. I paid the full amount upfront through Agoda, as a "Pay Now" booking. Upon arrival, I was told my room had a plumbing issue and that I'd be relocated. To secure my agreement, the front desk showed me a single photo of a clean, modern-looking room at the alternative property. I accepted, not wanting conflict on arrival. The actual room was nothing like that image. It was old, dirty, and extremely noisy due to ongoing construction—both inside the building and directly outside my window. Bed linens were torn, stained, and never changed during housekeeping. The substitute hotel had a 3.3/5 rating—a clear downgrade from what I paid for. I contacted Agoda after my stay with a full account of what happened. I provided multiple pieces of evidence: photos comparing the promised room versus the reality, two videos showing continuous construction noise, and a clear explanation that I never paid the second hotel—because my booking was fully settled with Agoda. For several days, Agoda responded with automated requests for documentation I couldn't provide—like a receipt from a hotel I never paid. Only after I insisted and shared visual proof did they finally acknowledge "significant discrepancies in the quality of your accommodation." They then offered a 20% refund—but framed it as a "gesture of goodwill," not as accountability for failing to deliver the booked service. They also deleted my honest review from their platform. I'm sharing this as a warning. Agoda will sell you one product, deliver another, deflect with impossible demands, and erase your feedback when it's inconvenient. I've since switched permanently to Trip.com and filed a chargeback with my bank—because fair compensation shouldn't require a fight. If you book with Agoda, document everything. And don't assume loyalty will be respected.
Only started using Agoda before my current trip to Asia as my go to site was booking.com but it seems there have been some issues in Turkey with this booking engine and I didn't want to risk anything! Agoda's reviews seemed good enough and they also seemed to be reliable! Last thing I ever wanted was to spend days/weeks researching places, booking something then arriving there with no record of my reservation! Luckily, that wasn't my issue but I hooked a property on Agoda in South Korea with them as my first time to any real Asian country which included airport transfers after over 12 hours of travelling only to find out that the hotel refused to give me the transfers, claimed it wasn't included even though it was clearly stated on my confirmation and also on the Agoda website and ended up paying $35 out of pocket! The hotel literally emailed me to take a taxi and pay for it or they would allow me to cancel the hotel for no charge all this after I was at the airport and literally feeling overwhelmed and lost in a different country! I had no other place to go and decided to contact Agoda later to see what they could do! After several emails back and forth, they advised me that transfers were included in my booking and needed to be confirmed 48 in advance and that I need to contact the hotel directly even though no one spoke English there and email was the only form of contact! When I booked the property initially, I have them my flight details and I also contacted them a week before asking how the transfers worked? It appears that Agoda is good at taking your money, blasting you with email coupons, 1 hour specials (like an infomercial) but not good at actual customer service when there's an issue! I will consider deleting my account after this trip and staying with either Expedia and Booking.com after this unsettling experience with Agoda in addition to filling out their survey stating the bad experience and having sent them several further emails with NO response at all! Just a word of warning with these guys and especially if something goes wrong!
Do NOT use this company to book your travel. They give you erroneous information and do not give you the correct number to call to change or cancel your reservation. This is not a legit company to do business with they are BAD customer service. DO Not USE. Would give them a zero if I could!
I have never in my life experienced such pathetic, dishonest, and useless "service" as what Agoda provides. The hotel promised me a refund (minus the first night), confirmed it TWICE over the phone, and told me everything would be processed through Agoda. But Agoda did NOTHING. They refused to honor it, ignored the agreement, and left me without a single cent back.
At this point, I honestly don't know if Agoda just doesn't give a damn about their customers or if they simply steal the refunds for themselves. Either way, it's a complete scam. They don't help, they don't solve problems – they just take your money and hide behind empty excuses.
Calling Agoda "customer service" is a bad joke. They are unreachable, unhelpful, and absolutely shameless. They wasted my time, destroyed my trust, and showed zero professionalism. I will NEVER use Agoda again and I strongly advise every traveler to stay away from this company.
A disgusting, money-grabbing platform with no respect for people. Shame on you, Agoda.
I have rarely experienced such frustrating and unprofessional service. Our booking with Agoda was fully paid, yet due to a lack of proper communication and missing information from their side, we could not check in at the hotel. Despite having all documentation proving the hotel's agreement to a refund and the additional costs incurred from finding an alternative accommodation, Agoda repeatedly failed to resolve the issue. Each response from Agoda customer service seemed automated or scripted, often ignoring the documents and facts we provided. Responsibility was constantly shifted between Agoda and the hotel, with no one taking ownership. Attempts to get our money back have so far been futile. This review is a warning to anyone considering using Agoda: while their website may be convenient for booking, their customer support system does not protect the client in case of problems, and in practice, refunds and resolutions can be nearly impossible to obtain.
The Worst Booking App Ever – Stay Away from Agoda!"Agoda is not a travel service – it's a scam machine in disguise."
If I could give zero stars, I would. Agoda is by far the worst booking platform I have ever dealt with. They push all the blame onto hotels when things go wrong, even though they are the middleman and should take responsibility. They advertise rooms that are completely different from reality – no proper verification, no quality check, nothing. When you ask for a refund, they refuse to take responsibility, offering only 15–45% at most, no matter how bad the situation is. Refunds take 3–6 months, and even after chasing them since July, I still haven't received my money back. The refund amount is just a few dollars, yet they delay endlessly. Their support is slow, unhelpful, and selfish – clearly designed to protect Agoda's profit, not the customers. This company clearly exploits customers, minimizes payouts, and shifts all the burden onto the consumer. Their so-called "refund policy" is a joke – a scam wrapped in corporate language. Do NOT trust Agoda. They are unreliable, irresponsible, and dishonest. Save yourself the stress and book directly with hotels or use other platforms that actually respect customers. Every step of their service is designed to frustrate customers until they give up
I booked a cheap hotel through Agoda. Posted instructions told me to wait for the manager. While waiting I was told by two different people, who emerged from what appeared to be the office, that they had no rooms, I then received a notification that my booking was cancelled. This turned out to be an error, it was from an earlier booking that I did not complete. I was not expecting a cancellation as I did not complete the booking. Also it was made over two hours earlier and I got "confirmed" from my other booking almost immediately. I see this as an error on Agoda's part that hey should correct. I went to another motel.
I had a very difficult time contacting customer service. They have endless selections, none of which applied to my issue. Each selection expounds on how great it is to do everything online. When I did get through, they contacted the hotel and, based on this, refused a refund. Another check box, no acknowledgment that they even recogized my problem.
Over several days, Agoda repeatedly gave me contradictory information about my booking amendment.
First, they claimed the hotel refused to change the dates.
When I contacted the hotel directly, they confirmed in writing that they would be happy to change the dates if Agoda approved it. Then Agoda changed their explanation, saying now it's a "booking partner" blocking the change — a partner I was never informed about during booking. This feels dishonest and misleading. Such inconsistency and lack of transparency wasted my time and damaged my trust. I will not be booking through Agoda again.
How exactly does Agoda calculate airline fees? That's the real question hidden behind all the vague explanations provided. To get a clear answer, I contacted the airline myself. They confirmed that the name correction fee is either completely free or no more than $2. Even that $2 is not an airline charge — it goes straight to Agoda as a handling fee. Yet, Agoda demanded $25 for a one-letter name correction, labeling it as an airline fee. On top of that, they charged an additional $20 as a service fee, bringing the total to $45. This is not a misunderstanding — it's intentional manipulation of information to inflate charges. That is outright deception. I have attached proof of payment. The amount was converted into Vietnamese Dong as I used a local card. Agoda clearly specified the breakdown: $25 for the so-called airline fee $20 Agoda service fee
Total: $45 (approximately 1,174,322 VND) These misleading practices only prove how far Agoda is willing to go to exploit travelers who trust the platform. The truth is simple — no amount of hidden fees, vague explanations, or manipulated terms can cover up how Agoda treats its customers.
Worst company, its a scam. I got documents from hotel to a accept the cancelation. But agoda declined to pay back the money. Contact them for 1 month and promise keep saying, even you send them the document they still not accept it. This is a scam company.
Answer: I didn't know that? I have had the best deals from them and I find them very helpful.
Answer: I don't bother making lists just search for where I am going and select the best deal for at least 1 mth before its needed and keep track of prices
Answer: You maybtry the resort website http://thecliffresort.com.vn and check the payment method. I got a better rate thru agoda, so did not contact the resort directly. The photos in agoda and resort web truly reflect the rooms and facility. http://thecliffresort.com.vn
Answer: For me as well very bad experience with this site. The administrator failed to confirm my booking in the evening, claiming they could not see it in their system and stating that the reserved room was unavailable, despite all the correct booking information being provided. Instead, they offered me a different room. At 10 PM on December 31st, traveling with a child, I had no choice but to agree and pay again for the alternative room. I immediately reported the issue to Agoda for assistance. The room we were given was in an unacceptable condition: it was dirty, there were holes in the bathroom walls, and mold was visible. It was nowhere near the standard described in the booking. The following morning, a different administrator located my original booking and refunded the payment for the additional room. However, they falsely claimed that I had stayed in the room I originally booked. This is not true—the room I stayed in differed significantly from the description and photos provided at the time of booking. Despite providing all necessary evidence, Agoda has refused to support my complaint, stating that the hotel confirmed my booking, which does not address the poor service, the forced additional payment, or the unacceptable condition of the room. This experience demonstrates an appalling lack of customer care from both the hotel and Agoda. As a customer, I feel my rights were ignored, and no proper resolution was provided. I expect Agoda to take accountability and address this issue properly, as this level of service is completely unacceptable.
Answer: Well, you probably need to call the customer service online or send them email from Agoda to get a reply. I feel that it was in vain to look for any help or compensation once your reservation has been done. Even the you overlooked some tricky information, Agoda will completely ignore what you said and push the blame to the hotel/property or the users. That is how I feel after trying so sort our the issue. Once a mistake is made, we probably can only eat it. Never expect they will admit any misinformation on line.
