Complete FRAUD. Representative themselves as Marriot, lying about access to wedding block. Cost considerably more than booking directly. No refund. Called number for Marriot Hotel. 10/12/19. Attempted to book 2 rooms for wedding block. Representative indicated that there were no more rooms available in the wedding block for the wedding guest price. This was a total lie. She encouraged me to book quickly, which unfortunately I did as she indicated that all rooms were booked and offered me a room at another Marriot - another lie. I booked and paid $198 plus $101.37 tax and recovery fees for one room and $236 plus $114 in tax and recovery fees. I asked about why there was such a significant added amount - she said there was a very high tax on hotel rooms. Nothing about recovery fees. Another lie. When I found out today from the Marriot that there were still rooms left at the discounted guest price I called Get a room and was told that there was no refund on my rooms. I asked to speak with a supervisor and the representative asked me to hold. They hung up on me and sent me an email with a link to complain. We are senior citizens on a fixed income and we have been ripped off. This company represented itself as Marriot and lied to cover for its already fraudulent practices. I would like a refund in the amount of $649.37 ASAP so I can book directly with the hotel.
Newer hotel, very well thought out. Easy check in an out. Good breakfast with many choices. Love the outside seating and view!
The person who made my reservation assured me the hotel was 7 miles from my activity and it was 20 miles. I requested the hotel I stay at had an indoor pool! He said he checked on that and there was and indoor pool. There was not and the outdoor pool was green. Getaroom did refund some of my money. So I will probably give them a second chance.
I dealt with two agents and a customer service representative and all three were very professional and polite. Especially Chris who called me back and gave me an excellent room rate. My one problem is that the two emails of the reservations I made (the two rooms), won't print out for me. Would it be possible to send the two reservations to me in a different form? I would appreciate it very much. Thanks.
Easy and straight forward to book will book again on this website confirmation received straight away not like some website can wait up to 24 hrs for confirmation of booking
I booked through GetaRoom and didn't realize I was booking through a third-party. At the end when I realized it through the email they sent while I was still on the phone, they wouldn't refund my money (my company won't pay if booked through a third party). As soon as I wrote a bad review, they called me and refunded my money immediately. They were nice and awesome to work with on that call.

THEY DO NOT DISCLOSE AMOUNT OF FEES UNTIL AFTER YOUR ENTER YOUR CREDIT CARD! Just like the other reviews, they offer a lousy 10% off after you call and complain. My room was $155, but my fees were $64.00! Do not book through them!
My credit card company said they have had many complaints! And they will not give you a break down of the fees!

My complaint is very similar to many made before me. I thought I was on the hotels actual website, not one trying to look like it. There is even a number shown that looks like a UK landline number but is a US number. The tax and service fees are not mentioned at all and are very misleading. Cancellation means you lose the rooms and any money paid - surely this is illegal? At no point during cancellation are you told that you will not get any amount of refund. Is this even legal? Trying to contact anyone is impossible. An automated phone line is of no use whatsoever. I also had the same problem as another customer - the reference number is repeated back to you incorrectly. Is this a premium number and therefore a total scam? This company are appalling, do not use them.

I dont normally write reviews but this website is $#*! scam. Disgusting and terrible.
They have additional hidden charges on top of the hotel room and they have a no cancellation policy that doesnt allow you to back out of a bad deal once you realize how much they have ripped you off.
On top of that they willnot provide a receipt for their charges so you cant prove anything including tax cuts or charge back if need be.
They are not responsive if they have over booked a hotel and will not help you re-book anywhere else.
Simply put PLEASE DONT DO IT TO YOURSELF WITH THESE PEOPLE

Forgot to book myself a room for a workcation but Getaroom came to my rescue! I was able to find an affordable place (Best Western Mission Bay) - walking distance to the water, convenient location, walkable to little convenience stores... easy to get to the airport. Love the convenience of Getaroom - definitely my go-to.
We had to cancel the reservation (two full days in advance) due to family issues and when I tried to call directly, the line kept hanging up. There was no warning that I was going to lose the entire $166 (I called the hotel and I don't think they're getting anything).
I called customer service and asked if they could at least reinstate the room and they said no, they were not able to do that either. I asked for a supervisor repeatedly and was told there was no supervisor available.
The kicker was that the booking clearly stated there was free cancellation and that was an absolute lie.
Do not under any circumstances use getaroom.com for any bookings.
Between being treated the same by bookings.com and now getaroom.com I will never use an online reservation system again and will call all hotels directly to make a reservation. In the end at least I won't be losing any money.

I wanted to book a room at Americas Best Value Inn. I googled the hotel and got several results. Not realizing that the site was a third party, I called them and made a reservation. They advertised a price of $61 but the total charge on my credit card was $91. Apparently they charge a $30 service fee. My wife came down with strep throat, and we couldn't stay at Americas Best Value Inn on the date of the reservation. When I called GetaRoom, they told me that this was a non-cancellable reservation and they would not give me my money back or modify the date of the reservation. I found the actual number of the hotel and called them to see if they could do anything. They said I should have booked the room directly with them, the room charge would have been $68 instead of $91. This third party scam operation provides no added value while charging extra fees for doing basically something I could have done myself. Do yourself a favor and call the hotel directly instead of using their services. Most hotels will match the price offered by Expedia, Hotel.Com, GetARoom, etc. I called the fraud department of my bank to lodge a formal complaint.

Horrible, horrible, horrible experience! I needed to book 5 rooms for my family and I to attend my grandmothers funeral. I got scammed. When I called customer service, first agent, Michelle, hung up on me. I called back and the second agent, Mark, was rude and refused to connect me with a supervisor. DON'T book with this site!

Misleading Scam, be alert when booking your hotel. Charged $32 in junk tax recovery charges and service fees. Booked other rooms on the Holiday Inn site for less than $100, I was charged $132.45 Called to cancel or even match the price that I should have paid, they offered $9. Please don't use this service. Take your time to make sure you're booking on the proper site. I am glad that I am now aware and I will make sure to stay away from Getaroom.com
UPDATE: After this review, someone did reach out to me and they offered to make it up through a partial refund. That interaction was very helpful and professional. If only they had a way to reach that customer service team first (instead of the rude, unhelpful team, from the number they list online...)
TOTAL SCAM of a company! I booked online, thinking I was booking with the hotel. I paid $1800 for my stay and then get to the hotel and they show a credit of only $1200! GETAROOM took my $600 and never transferred it to the hotel and refuses to give me an explanation as to why i was charged an extra amount and it wasn't passed on to the hotel. Subsequently, by $1200 wasn't enough for the entire stay so i had to pay the hotel an additional amount. NEVER USE THIS SERVICE. When i called their customer service (which is also a scam) they said they could not help me, gave me a canned response and said there were no supervisors. Stay far away from this site.

I did not realize I was speaking to a 3rd party... thought I was speaking to resort itself. Even though she was very friendly, information I was given was incorrect; therefore, I had to cancel my reservation.

This site is horrible I made a reservation at 1100 am due to my husband losing his credit card. When my husband whet at 3pm to check in at the hotel he was not allowed to check in because he had no credit card and couldn't pay his incidentals in cash and called at 320pm to cancel this reservation! Could you believe that they kept my $160.00 and told my my reservation can be canceled but I have NO REFUND i then asked for a manager and they told my I have to email them only! Wow I! Then customer service is horrible really in a matter of 4 hours I lost $160 wow this 3rd party has no consideration at all! HORRIBLE Marianela Gutierrez

I found it extremely difficult to get a hold of someone to cancel my reservation. With online bookings, confidence in the service provider is essential. Particularly for repeat business.
I ended up cancelling via email which worked out well.
Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.

There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
