In thinking I was booking a room directly through the hotel site I was somehow redirected to this SCAM of a company! Upon completion of my reservation I noted the stated room price of $104 went to $148 due to bogus tax recovery charges and service fees. Directly after I contacted the horrible customer service department and was informed my card was already charged and absolutely no refunds! The owners of this company should be ashamed in literally stealing people's money! Please take my advice and DO NOT book through this unethical dishonest site!
Tried to book room at Baymont Inn in Plainfield, Indiana for 12-6-19, direct with hotel. GetaRoom pop-up appeared and took me away from original site. Ended up finishing in transaction on GetaRoom site, but date reverted from 12-6 to 11-30 (today's date). Tried to call to correct date, but was told it was confirmed and they could not refund. Contacted Baymont Inn, but they couldn't/wouldn't allow me to correct date either. DO NOT DO BUSINESS with GetaRoom!

I did not know this site until I was redirected from trivago. It has such nice offers in many hotel accommodations, for all price ranges.

Your service automatically changed my reservation to the day I made it instead of a week away like I intended. I called to cancel, and your guy said too bad, i had to cancel by yesterday even though i just made it 10 minutes ago.
I filled out this review, and a very nice lady called and fixed everything. I'm very pleased. The only reason I'm not giving a 5 is due to the system "defaulting" to the current date and causing this mixup in the first place.

UPDATE: I am happy to say customer service did call me within an hour of my initial review and have committed to taking care of my over charge concerns. The hotel is very nice and check in and the stay has been great. The correction will come after my stay. I am very impressed that they called me so quickly!

I reserved a room and was given mis information regarding your company and the charges. I called back for clarification and still was not given a straight answer. I travel all the time and this has been one of the worst experiences with a travel sight

I did a search on my phone for a hotel and somehow ended up getting GetaRoom.com. OK I am an idiot on my phone... The adviser represented himself as working at the hotel and said this was the best rate as it was non-refundable. I accepted the reservation. Once I got to a computer I looked online and called the hotel to make a change and they said a 3rd party made the reservation, I was dumbfounded because I was told that I had made the reservation through the hotel. I asked about the rates and they basically laughed saying that I was overcharged by 50 bucks a night... I asked about the reservation and the hotel said it was refundable. I called Get a Room, asked for a supervisor after 10 frustrating minutes discussing it with the boiler room salesperson, I finally got to speak with the supervisor and she confirmed that the room was non-refundable. I told her that I spoke with the hotel and that it was refundable on their side. She put me on hold, I presume called the hotel, got the room cancelled and said my money would be credited back to my card. Kudos for the help, but mad as he77 that the original person portrayed themselves as being a part of the hotel chain. I was scammed, but they did make it right... well maybe, I will wait to see if I get my money back. I give them one star for being deceptive.

Booked a room on Tuesday and the rate on the front page was c. £121 and when i got the email confirmation I had been charged £178.46 - there was £57 for tax and fees! I took a look today and when you book the extra charges are shown but right at the end when you are nearly completing the booking and very small. Got to hotel and had to wait half hour for the hotel to find the booking. Then i have also been charged by the hotel as they hadn't had the money through. Shocking, this booking agent should close. Totally unethical

I am positive I booked my room through the Omni Hotel website and went to cancel my Friday reservation today was informed it was booked through getaroom.com and I would have had to cancel before Monday (5 days before) to get a refund. I asked them to please change my reservation to the next day, Saturday, November 23,2019 so I can watch my son play basketball and they will not. They give me a website to write in to and stated no supervisor was able to help me on the phone.

I put a star because there isn't a zero stars option. Everyone can get a room a lot cheaper than by using this site.The price showed at the beginning was not even close to the checkout price. I tried to call 5 minutes later to cancel, but their policies would not allowed.

The gentleman booked my rooms totally incorrectly and not one person would help me get it corrected. I requested a manager or supervisor and was told no one was around, which I know is a lie! Totally disrespectful!

I did not realize I was booking through this third party, I feel like such a fool! I booked with them and needed to cancel. Was told it was non-refundable, so I told them "never mind, I do not want it cancelled". Low and behold, they cancelled it anyways without giving me any kind of refund. I am furious. THIS IS A COMPLETELY FRAUDULENT HOTEL BOOKING WEBSITE, DO NOT USE IT. STAY FAR AWAY.

Tried to act like the real hotel site. Wouldn't add a day to my trip. I cancelled my reservation and called the hotel direct. Agents were rude, and kept repeating themselves. Seems like a scam site.

Due to unexpected fees, I contacted GetARoom and 2 support persons responded timely. I expected a lengthy argument, but they resolved my problem within a couple days and issued a refund. However, if the initial reservation representative has a strong accent (which I had trouble understanding) be sure to ask the person to repeat repeat..., and always ask what are the additional charges that might get added to the quoted room rate, so you're not surprised when the bill comes.

The date selection changed upon booking. It did not alert anytime that it was a non refundable booking.

I thought I was on hotel website when I booked this hotel on the internet, I filled in myinformation and saw price for my hotel room as 96.00.
I proceeded to book and clicked on pay and and saw a total price show up as 140.11 shortly after on my cell phone. This is a 40% increase in (so called recovery fees) the quoted price I saw prior to booking.
There was no total amount due and fees included prior to clinching to book the room. I immediately called the getaroom.com with seconds of the booking and was informed that no cancelation was possible on mutable attempts. I called and emailed this pathetic booking operation and was denied my funds back on the phone and in writing.
Thankfully my credit card company got my funds returned.
It's time to expose these booking sites for what they are, total deception operations that take advantage of consumers and so many of us are trapped to pay excessive fees by these sites. Stay AWAY!

Time wasted with too many "miss Sandra" and "maam" after every exchange. It took way too much time to make the reservation.
Shame on Get A Room on taking advantage of people with leading people on that they are on the hotel website. I made this mistake. I was over charged for my room for two nights and they charged a service charge of 189.02. When I asked for them to break down my charges they would not. I guess shame on me for not realizing I was being taken advantage of. Here is a statement of the company.

Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
