Very Misleading

Update: very satisfied with the resolution of my issue. Carrie was excellent and I appreciated her fast follow up and resolution, and explaining what went wrong. A company that listens is all to rare today. Thank you!

Today, I wanted to make a room reservation at a Quality Inn hotel in Wisconsin. I was on their website, got a quote of $142 something plus $21.00 tax for a total of $163.88. I booked, and when the charge authorization came through it was for $211.85! I am pretty computer savvy. I really did think I was still on the Quality Inn website when I booked. After calling GetARoom, and speaking with representative, all they could give me was $14. I really don't know what that represented.

I see that other people have had this issue of being redirected from the hotel website. I do not know whose fault this is, but it is very misleading to the public. I think the company should have provided a refund to get me to the cost I originally saw, $163.88. We will refute the additional $47.97 of tax recovery charges.

I googled a Hampton Inn at my intended destination and there was a number phone number that appeared to be for reservations to the hotel by the Hilton chain. During the call, I was never told this was not the hotel, but rather a third party. The first mistake was the guy tried to book me at a hotel in Las Vegas when I was trying to book a hotel in St. Louis. He corrected it. All sounded legit. He quoted a price plus taxes which is typical for a hotel. However, the whole time, it was hard to hear him and understand him I did not find out it was a third party until I received an e-mail confirmation. Had I known up front it was a third party, I would never have used them i then found in the e-mail confirmation the reservation dates were incorrect, a month off, a ridiculously high tax, recovery and service fee that was more expensive than going directly to the hotel, and a disclaimer that they don't refund. I called to cancel and demand my money back for their mistake and deceptiveness. They wouldn't work with me. The fact that they have a no refund policy tells me that they are a deceptive company and its not about customer good service. I finally got a hold of the actual hotel and they said they get complaints about companies like this all the time.

I filed my review here and within a day, I will contacted by their resolutions department. This person, Carie, said they would refund my money and apologized for my dissatisfaction. I am happy that I got my money back, but still, it should not have been escalated to a resolution department.

GETAROOM.COM.

I was searching for a hotel near the airport in Mauritius for an overnight stay. The web search steered me GETAROOM.com offering a room in the Holiday Inn for 155.00 a night. I actually thought I was in the hotel's official website so I entered my information and Credit card number. Once I clicked on process, it showed I was charged roughly 228 dollars! The extra 73 dollars was listed as "Tax recovery & service fee"! The charges were non refundable. If I were to go to Holiday Inn's (real) website and run the same dates for the same room, the charge would be a total of 155 with taxes included. I called GETAROOM.COM's customer service and explained to them my concerns. I asked the customer service agent to explain and break down the taxes and services fee of 73 dollars but the customer service agent said she did not have that information. The websites/company lacks transparency on their charges. They seem to over charge for their "service" fee. They offered a 20 dollar refund in the end. I was quite disappointed and I do not recommend this company.

Update: While on my trip, a customer service agent from GETAROOM.COM called to address my concerns. The agent was very open and was willing to work with me. At the end we came up with a fair agreement and I was refunded some of the overcharged money. The problem was resolved.

Very dissapointed

I made a reservation GH Universal Hotel by Getaroom. 24 since reservation, hotel reservation did not already get a confirmation fro GetAroom. Then I made a call to getAroom, mr. Melva (cs from getAroom) said that my reservation was confirmed, she said that i must still waitting until 72 hour. Then after 72 hour from my booked, i called to GH Universal Hotel anymore. The CS from hotel said that they still don't have my voucer from the travel (getARoom). Then they hel me to make call to getAroom. Unfortunatelly there's no room for my reservation on that date. And getAroom is not give me any information. I made a full payment by Visa and how it could be. I'm so angry

Misleading Offer and Poor Support
January 10, 2020

Never heard of GetARoom until Kayak showed their price. Clicked through and received a link to confusing room choices titled 2 bed rooms having only 1 bed (!) Clicked for Support which promised a few minutes wait but did not reply for 12 hours and then did not answer my question without further interaction. Keep getting unwanted follow up communication.

Entirely unsatisfactory

Recognizing that I had made an error, I called within two minutes of making the reservation. No help at all. These people are total rip offs focused on exploitation of people who are in a hurry.

Issue resolved after I posted this review. Social media matters.

Booking online I clicked on the hotel I knew I wanted but was redirected to a 3rd party (getaroom.com). Through using the browser on my phone, at some point the date changed to the day I was booking instead of the day I needed. This placed my reservation into a window of no cancellations or modifications per getarooms policy. I called customer service and was hung up on the first time. Then was told I needed to speak with the hotel as far as changing it on their end. The hotel tells me the reservation is locked on their end and can only be adjusted by the 3rd party. Queue the frustrated customer getting the run around. End of the day getaroom is unwilling to fix an online clerical error. Terrible customer service. Deceptive 3rd party advertising. Highly reccomend never using them. The room was way more expensive through the 3rd party also due to extra fees that are not clearly displayed until after you confirm.

UPDATE: A couple hours after posting negative feedback, getaroom customer service reached out and apologized for the incident and gave me a full refund. I really appreciate that.

Extortion

I booked a room through 5is site - it looked like it was the website of the hotel but this was a deception - and the nightly rate was reasonable - about £46. When I completed the sale it came to £143, "Tax recovery and service fees" had been added which I had not been made aware of in the usual, "total cost" manner of normal, honest websites.
I have not been refunded at the time of writing, but have raised the issue with trading standards.

Concerns

I contacted getaroom.com, thinking it was the Hyatt guest reservation number... my mistake for not looking closer, but they made no effort to disclose this was a third party number (again its my bad for not asking, I guess). I needed to add a night to an already made group reservation and they were so eager to assist me. Needless to say, the room was a higher price, but I needed the night and figured I would go ahead and book, again still thinking it was Hyatt and it was the best I would do (My bad for trusting the internet search, you got me Getaroom.com, hope your are proud of your business model).

I then found out I could have gotten it way cheaper through a different site. I called customer service to see if there was any way to get a refund, of course that was denied. I tried to ask who exactly makes the "no-refund" policy and that's when the rep got really evasive with answering questions, and tried to steer the conversation elsewhere putting words in my mouth, I called him on it and he started to get offended. I asked to speak to a supervisor but "they were all busy." I eventually was given the "max one-time 15% discount" for my "trouble." The evasiveness on the phone was very apparent, It seemed like I was not the first person who had this type of experience. Never once did they offer to have a supervisor call me back, they just kept saying that they were all busy with other customers.

**Buyer beware** Always double check who you are dealing with

UPDATE: I was contacted by customer service after posting the above review. The customer service rep was much more understanding of the situation and listened to my concerns without all of the run around. She advised me the initial reps I worked with were most likely from an out of country call center and she was going to pass along my concerns with how the business is being conducted with them. She was much more friendly and was able to do the leg work to get me a full re-fund, for this I am grateful.

We are leaving Thursday for a cruise. I wanted to stay at the Travel Lodge for the parking, and the free shuttle. I noticed that somehow I was to check in on the 12/4. I needed to check in on 12/5, It took forever to cancel the 12/4 date. It didn't take but a minute to pay for another night. And then try to get back my prepaided for the wrong day. This went on for hours. After talking to David, the got to a good number, and that number got me to the reservation counter. Then I was assured that The cancellation would go through. I have C*******

This booking site is absolutely horrible. When I was entering information I wasn't too concerned thinking that there would be a confirmation page that showed all the charges prior to actually billing. THIS IS NOT THE CASE! They show you the room price, ask for your information and then bill your card. Only after they have billed you do you see the taxes and fees they charge which are atrocious. This site cost $30 more than booking directly through the hotel. If I was aware of the cost of their fees prior to finalizing the booking I would not have followed through. This is a shady operation that does not disclose their charges before billing you. I would not recommend to my worst enemy. STAY AWAY!

I originally had a problem with my reservation, starting with I did not realize I had booked through a third party (Getaroom). When I received the confirmation, I was surprised that I was not dealing with the actual hotel, and the total was more than I thought I had booked.

My initial call, which occurred within about 30 min. Of receiving the confirmation notice, did not go well - they asserted that the reservation could not be canceled nor refunded... despite my direct prior conversation with the hotel who told me that was not because of them... but getaroom would have to manage the cancellation.

The good news is that before today was over, I had a direct call back from getaroom with a commitment to satisfactorily resolve my concerns. The caller was direct, pleasant and understanding of my complaint, and criticisms. This side of their customer service was substantially better.

My advise for those who wish to use getaroom is to simply read carefully what they put on the web page you are filling out. They actually tell you what they are doing. But because of the way they construct the page and their run their process it is easy to miss those details especially if you are in a hurry. If you follow that precaution, you should do fine with them.

I thought I was booking directly with the hotel. I didn't find out until I checked out and the hotel couldn't provide a receipt for my corporate credit card. I called and they refuse to provide a receipt with tier taxes necessary for my corporate credit card. They refused to put a supervisor or manager on the phone and when I insisted on being provided the the corporate phone number, all they gave me was another call center phone number. I will never be tricked into using this company again.

LOCK THEM ALL UP!

I booked 2 different hotels one by phone and one by the internet. I thought i was dealing directly with the hotels, i was wanting to stay at. As it turned out its a masquerade. They are third parties who lead you to believe you are dealing directly with the establishment you want to stay at. Theses multiple third party players are all connected to CCI. *******3575 getaroom/bogota etc. They charged 30-40 percent more in fees. Than what was quoted initially. I received no confirmations notices prior to or receipts at end of my stay. Good Luck trying to get any answers after you have made the reservation! Good Luck trying to get the hotel ( Hilton) you stayed at or your credit card (BOA) to help you! Its fraud plain and simple. Check out who is behind these companines CCI Getaroom. The whole situation reeks of criminality!

NEVER use these cheaters. They will steal your money. They offered us a room with two double beds and never mentioned the double beds in my confirmation. I canceled the reservation since they did not want to confirm the two double beds and they said since we cancelled we cannot get a refund.
