My daughter was stuck at the DETROIT airport, called Get A Room to book a room at the Westin Hotel in the DETROIT airport. They sent her a confirmation for the Westin in the DALLAS airport. And charged our credit card $218. Called them immediately, nobody I spoke to could help, but the next day I received an email that they would refund my money. And today I received a credit to my charge card. Thank you Get A Room.
I booked this afternoon (10/30) and then needed to cancel (funeral arrangements for family coming in for recent death in the family). Only then did I find that the room I thought was booked through the hotel website was actually thru getaroom.com and the cancellation was only allowed prior to 5 pm on 10/30. Hilton/Hampton cannot help me. Isn't there some way this room can be cancelled. It is for 11/3-4, which should be plenty of time. I have NEVER seen a site that you had to cancel within 4-5 hours or pay full price penalty. Please help!

Complete Frauds!
I booked a room in Dallas and I was thinking it was a Hilton website and I found a room at Embassy Suites that was the best rate special at $189 but soon as I saw the breakdown they charged me $249 for the room and $97 in taxes. I called and said it was a mistake since they claimed the room was $189. I called and talked to a rather rude customer service agent and they said you agreed to the $249 and I said I didn't and wanted to cancel, she said it would cost one nights stay which was all I was staying for, I said I wasn't going to stay and will ask my credit card company to fight the charges.
I didn't stay at the hotel but was still charged for the room. Right now American Express is going to fight the charge but pay attention since they mirror the website of the place you want to stay

Getaroom website is total scam company and should be shut done since it trick trick the customer and not disclosing the exorbitant fee they add after you click to confirm reservation. IT IS CHOUCE HOTEL FAULT that allow them book for them.

WORST experience ever! Booked with them thinking I was booking with the actual hotel. Asked if my room was with my son's hockey team and they assured me it was, they also assured me it was at the discounted price our coach told us we were getting. My credit card got charged double the price and when I called the hotel they told me that I was not in the block with the team. The lady found my reservation and told me that these guys lie to people all the time. I called "get a room" complaints after the hotel lady told me who it was I was actually talking to and they took 15 dollars off. I'm paying over 200 dollars for a room that was supposed to be 70 dollars! DO NOT BOOK WITH THEM! They make their website look exactly like it's the actual hotels, with pictures and all. RIP OFF!

Took over 30 mins to just edit my hotel reservation from 2 nights to 1 night. I had to talk to three different people all which asked me the same questions over and again. Would never use this site again.

Convenient to use website but not able to apply discounts via website (AAA, military, senior, etc.) which would have helped with the price.
I have just booked a hotel on their site to find out after they took my money they charged me £30 in taxes. I am worried now the whole site is a scam. Trying to contact the hotel to see if they have my booking and asking the site for my taxes money back!

Get a room pretended to be the hotel when I called. Canceling became impossible. I called the hotel to cancel and I still got charged for the room because I didn't cancel with Get a Room. Now we owe for one nigh we never stayed (and did called to cancel) as well as all their fees which we didn't know were in addition to typical hotel and city taxes.

SCAM SCAM SCAM AVOID THIS SITE
I didn't realise I was even booking through these shysters. I clicked to book for a room for £70. The next page takes you to a form and at the top is a count-down clock for how long that room rate is available for. The pressure is on! You complete the form and hit pay. And what you don't realise is that at the side of the screen, greyed-out so as not to draw your eye to it, is the detail of TAX THEY ADD TO THE ROOM.
It is TOTALLY OPAGUE. TOTALLY CORRUPT. TOTALLY A RIP OFF. They added £38 to a £70 room. I paid £108 in total. I had no idea when I pressed the button that this is what I was paying. I only noticed when my payment notification came through on my phone.
The hotel were appalled and apologised but they cannot do anything.
I will raise a complaint with local trading standards.
I paid for the hotel on my Amex so I did raise a complaint with them and GETAROOM contacted me. Their advice was that I cancel the booking. No refund. No return on the tax. Just cancel. So I lose my money and the room and have to pay again for the hotel. Absolute joke.

Paid for 8 days parking at Holiday Inn who told us we only have 1 night parking when we arrived! Called getaroom service who took forever and gave me the runaround only to say we hadnt paid for parking even tho the booking agent assured us it was. Now have to pay TWICE for parking. They have no interest in investigating the agent who lied to us. This business is SHADY

I reserved a room for two nights in Dobbs Ferry, NY in Feb 2019 and paid $409.90. Several months late I received a notice that the original hotel was full and I was switched to another. Two weeks prior to the Oct 12th date I canceled for family reasons. Apparently the code I used (received in the confirmation email) was for the original reservation and not the one I was transferred to so I lost the entire payment. Will NEVER use this service again.

I was booking 3 rooms in multiple locations almost a year in advance and she made sure I got the best deal available and made each room an individual booking in case someone in our party couldn't make it.

Very polite, but the process was lengthy. Also, when I initially made a reservation, your policy stated would be charged for early departures. When I called to leave 1 day early, I was told your agent couldn't modify the reservation, just cancel and re-reserve. Took a long time, as it was for 2 rooms.
THIEVES. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! I mistakenly went through this site thinking it was the real hotel website for a business trip, when planes changed a month ahead of time they kept 100% of my money, they refused to refund any of it or change dates. Stay away from getaroom.com

I've just booked a room, advertised at a low rate, they fail to mention that they will charge Taxes and Services, at almost the same amount of the ROOM!

Had to change arrival and departure dates for my daughter's hotel stay for an upcoming holiday and event next month. The staff members made it easy and seamless!
Went thru the reservation process rather easily but then after I accepted it I realized the dates were wrong. Easy change right? NOPE! It took 4 phone calls to customer service and took 40 minutes of effort. My calls were repeatedly dropped as soon as I was placed into the hold queue. We really like the hotel otherwise I would have said hasta la vista!
Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
