This is a revision from my initial review. The company called me after hearing of my displeasure from my initial call with them. Apparently the hotel was untruthful with them about my stay but Get A Room resolved everything to my satisfaction. Thank you for the quick resolution of the issues.
Update - Shannon R with Getaroom.com - took great care of me and submitted a full refund. I book lots of hotels throughout the year and would definitely reconsider and use them again.
I used getaroom.com to book a room for 2 nights in San Antonio. I chose my dates - double checked my dates and hit "buy now". When the confirmation came to my email the dates had changed to the SAME DAY I booked it, which was a Monday. The reservation should have been the following Monday. Total technical glitch. I called customer service. Which no one spoke english. They were in the Philippines. Was told I could not get a refund as the refund would have to been requested 2 days prior to when I Even BOOKED IT. Now how would that be possible? I didn't' book it 2 days earlier. I was told they would refund me $11.49 out of $360 dollars. Are you kidding me? I then emailed customer service, to let them know about the glitch. I WAS given a refund of 1 day NOT both days. I even asked if they could just change the dates or choose another hotel that could accommodate me for the following Monday. I was told they contacted the hotel (Wyndham San Antonio River Walk) which I highly doubt they did and that Wyndham would not refund cause of THEIR policy. Again, highly doubt they called Wyndham. This is a total scam company, do not use them EVER!

Booked my room with GetARoom and received notification that my room had been booked and that the hotel had received the booking. When I arrived at the hotel I was informed that they had not received the booking and the hotel was completely booked and that I did not have a room. Needless to say that I was very upset after travelling 500+ miles and did not have an accommodation. However, after a couple of days I received a phone call from GetARoom inquiring about my review. I explained the situation to the individual and they provided me with a sincere apology, an explanation of why the situation might have happened and offered me a refund of the charges. Needles to say I was very impressed with the follow up service that was provided and would not hesitate to use GetARoom in the future. Thank you for the excellent service. Something of a rarity in today's world.
I was traveling to Chicago for a dance convention for my daughter. The convention offered discount rooms and it was through this service. When I called, it was passed the lockout date for the discount so I asked for the next best price - which ended up being $50 a night above retail. I didn't realize this until after my stay, so good job GetARoom, your system of catching people like me that miss the discount window really worked in your favor and left me paying way more than I should! At least I have learned my lesson and can spread the word for others to avoid your so-called service.

They didn't tell me I was getting charged in us rayes when I ordered the room I looked at my credit card to find out I could have gotten the rate for by he room cheaper like by 40 Canadian price

This company is very misleading and borderline crooks. They show prices that are lower than most other sites and during the booking process all you see is the price you believe you are paying. It was only when I got the confirmation email that I noticed they add taxes onto it which now made the room more expensive than most other sites. I realised the pay button shows on the website and the taxes explanation is after the pay button so unless you scroll past the pay button to the bottom of the page you naturally miss the extra charges section. Very sneaky and dishonest and I hope people realise and dont make the same mistake again. When I emailed them they stated that they make the additional charges very clear but judging by the amount of 1 star reviews you can see this is not the case. I was given a small discount but this still made the total price of the room more expensive than going direct to the hotel.

Post prices marginally lower than what the hotel charges directly, and then tack on inordinate fees that are not explicitly disclosed. I consider that the MO of scam artists. If you've been had, no matter what they claim or try to charge you for a cancellation fee, do NOT accept. Take it up with your credit card company; no worries!
I had reserved a room for a number of days to attend a conference and afterwards decided to extend my time there to visit family in the area. I called to reserve two additional days preceding the reserved time over an extended three day period, allowing me to leave the area for one night. The reservationists were highly cooperative and arranged for me to have the same room for the entire period although one of those nights I would not be staying there. The extension was handled quickly and professionally to my complete satisfaction.

This company is fraud. You think you are making a reservation at the actual hotel site which I only do and they sons how intercept it. It was weird. It's all foreigners that don't speak English. You CANNOT cancel or get refunds it's a scam. Call the hotel directly

Although my initial experience with this company was anything but good the company reached out to make it right. I was offered a refund of the additional fees. I was also informed that I had not made the reservation from their website and was educated on how the hotel website kicks you into a 3rd party booking site. As this has never happened to me before I will be more diligent when booking on line if I use the company website or make reservations by phone. I had no idea you could be rerouted to a 3rd party site when booking directly from the Wyndham website.

Originally, I was very upset because we couldn't get a refund for a room we cancelled almost immediately because of a mistake on a date. After calling and sending an e-mail it was resolved and they now refunded my credit card. Happy, not to be charged for a room we couldn't use. So the customer service ended up helping me out in the end.

I had a problem with my booking online because of the website company which is out of their hands just a technology glitch. The customer care team still were able to fix my problem and credit me back. I received excellent customer service while dealing with the customer care team.

I reserved a room in New York on Get A Room for a client, when i called the hotel to book a late check out they told me no booking existed in the name of my client. I called the Get a Room help line and held for hours with no reply. Eventually I was informed that no booking existed although I had already paid and received gauranteed booking advice. I called the hotel again to double check and was told there was no booking with my reference number nor in the clients name and that the hotel was fully booked for the night in question. I ended up having to book another hotel, more expensive and further from the United Nations where my cleint was speaking. Since then I have been told they wont refund me as I cancelled the booking. How can I cancel a booking which the hotel tells me doesnt exist. I have had no help from Get a room who just say they wont refund.

I can't believe the discounted hotel room rates. I truly hope when I arrive at the hotel I don't find out that this was to good to be true!
I will never use this again EVER! One person i had to finally say bye to because he wasnt understanding me and i couldnt understand him after 15 or so minutes. Called back and took another 25 minutes!
Booked 2 rooms at Wyndham Tulsa. Arrived at hotel and no reservation in the system. On phone with getaroom.com for over an hour while they claimed they were attempting to contact the hotel. The front desk did not get a call or an email at that time. The operator claims they can not issue a refund even though they never made the reservation. Now im out $201.52

I booked over the phone thinking it was best western head office! They matched the rate I found online for 3 rooms 2 nights including breakfast for a family wedding this weekend.
I now discover this is getaroom and no breakfast included and have paid double the cost! Not able to get a refund!
Very deceitful, avoid at all costs!
Following on from this yesterday I had a call from customer services, asking how they could resolve this issue.
Today they phoned the hotel and have paid for full breakfasts for all adults and emailed me to confirm.
I am very happy with this outcome, good customer service in the end :)

Though my experience did not start out great with them, it ended with a better understanding. I thank then for calling and better explaining how it works and it appears it was a misunderstanding and misinformation. It worked out in the end.

Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.

There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
