I reserved a room on this site today, and was stunned when the $176 room charge ended up being $244. Their fees started at $50 and then more for "extra persons" who won't be there. I'd booked with a hotel that didn't actually charge for the room in advance, so cancelling was quick and easy. Now I'm worried that I gave a credit card number to this company. AND - Chase fraud division refused the charge on the first card I tried to use. Chase knows what they are!
Having been advised the price of my room, I carried through with the purchase on my cell phone not seeing the $150 in taxes and service charges that were added. A $250 booking became $400. When I called them to complain they told me they could not break down the taxes and service charges. I then phoned the hotel and they advised me that the taxes would be in the neighborhood of $50. This leaves $100 as their commission, far too high an amount. When I complained to them again on the phone after a lot of runaround they agreed to return a deposit equal to $64 Canadian. Since then I have received an email confirming $50 Canadian and that amount has been credited to my account. All efforts to point out this discrepancy have been ignored.

Was taking my sister for surgery at a hospital 2 hours from our area. I made a room reservation as we had to be there overnight (her surgery was scheduled for 5:30 am the next morning but she had to be there the day before at hospital for testing). The doctor's office called just as we were getting ready to leave the house. They had postponed her surgery. I immediately called the motel and let them them know what had happened and said since we wouldn't be there, to free up the room. The person I talked to said not to worry as I'd paid Get A Room, just to ask Get a Room to call and ask for him and he'd talk to them. It took a lot of back and forth emails, but finally got my money refunded

I was trying to book with hotel directly and accidentally got forwarded to this website. The hotel gives cancellation with no penalty if cancelled within 72 hours. Not knowing I was booking through this site they charged 200 extra per night in fees. When I tried to cancel they said no refunds which is criminal since the hotel permits it and it was false advertising how I even got to the site in the first place. I should be able to get a full refund!

Our hotel was room rate was $264 with a fee paid to Get A Room of $120. You do not find this out until you receive your confirmation. Hotel.con is the way to go.

I originally booked two rooms with get a room but the hotel had overbooked. Eventually, I had to get rooms elsewhere. I had to wait a bit but get a room worked with me to get my money refunded. Thank you get a room.

Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
