I have had several bad experiences in Wyndham Hotels. Cleanliness and over charging. Corporate will do nothing about it. My advice is stay away from anything that has the Wyndham name on it.
If I could leave zero stars, I would. My family and I had a HORRIBLE experience! We booked through booking.com, and the hotel we had reserved over a month before hand had given away the suite we had reserved. We would have been fine with adjoining rooms, but even that, they did not have. The desk staff were fortunately very kind and understanding, but that is the ONLY good part of our entire experience! We had been driving for 8 hours with a 9 month old, to pick my sister's husband up from the Army where he was completing his training. We had 5 adults, and a baby. We needed the suite or adjoining rooms to accommodate the baby's schedule.
We ended up cancelling the first hotel because they could not accommodate my family the way we needed, and we chose another hotel which happened to be another Wyndham hotel. When my sister called the second hotel before we got there, they promised that they would have adjoining rooms, so we got a full refund from the first hotel and went to the second. When we got there, the front deal staff was completely rude and extremely unprofessional towards us, and took five million years just to get us checked in. Come to find out the person had lied on the phone about adjoining rooms and they were only side by side. This was still not what we were promised, and definitely not what we needed!
At this point, the baby was extremely fussy and was already 2 hours passed his bedtime, so we decided to stay for the sake of the baby. Finally we got keys and when we got the rooms, the bathrooms were gross, one of the toilets had plumbing problems, and dead bugs were found in the sheets of one of the beds. GROSS! The entire hotel was disgusting, and someone thought that a coat of paint would fix the problem. On top of that, we paid $50 more per night at the new hotel than we would have at the old hotel.
When I called customer service to leave a complaint, the first person I spoke with was completely rude to me, could not understand what I was saying and purposefully made themselves difficult to understand after I asked them to clarify what they were saying three times (I live in a very diverse area, I'm good at understanding people through thick accents), then proceeded to claim reception issues, when I know there was nothing wrong with my reception and proceeded to pretend like they could not hear me. Obviously, I called again. This time, the guy I spoke to was much nicer, but he still was completely unhelpful and could not give me a resolution on the matter! It has been almost a week since this HORRID experience and I have not heard a word from corporate! This company is terrible! I have not had good experiences with Wyndham but this takes the cake! After this, I will never stay at another Wyndham hotel ever again, and I will tell my extensive list of family and friends not to give this company their business either!
I would not recommend staying at any place associated with Wyndham. Everything about it is not easy/good. The websites do not show accurate pictures. When you call customer service, they do not seem to care about your concerns and just try to offer you points to make you happy. They do not care or address the needs of the statements that you make regarding the places that you are staying.
Made a reservation today on Expedia. Went to check in and the hotel clerk says how old are you. I am 20. Oh sorry you have to be 21. She said well I need a refund then. Clerk says oh no you booked through a 3rd party website you will have to get it from them. Called Expedia they said you only need be 18 to book a room. It's too late to get your money back as you had to give us more 48 hours cancellation notice. Called hotel back said oh sorry we just changed our policy. This is tantamount to highway robbery! Asked to talk to management. Oh they are not on the property.
A Wyndham Rep made us a reservation in late December for Jan 13-15, supposedly. I was supposed to pay out of pocket for Jan 13-14 then check out and check back in using my points for Jan 14-15. But when we checked in to the hotel it was all chaos; the Wyndham rep scheduled both reservations for the same day and it's been downhill since I checked in. Now we have to pay out of pocket $300 plus for Wyndham's error. Totally messed up our weekend. #HEADACHE
I cant even begin to go through the nasty dirty filth of this place. Over $100 to fear for my life and worry about bedbugs!
It's an ok rewards program until you try to get the best price guarantee. Found better rate on hotels and booking and they still refused to honor best price.
Don't ever stay here… because I misplaced my key card and wasn't the person who reserved the room … the service desk wouldn't let me in even though I knew the name, number, address and license who I checked in with!
They were happy to let me spend the night outside, in Canada, in the winter! Biggest joke ever.
On business in Geneva, the management and staff at Days Inn are excellent, very courteous and helpful
After checking in to the Edmonton location, I was advised I had to pay an add 200$ for a damage deposit in addition to paying for the room. After questioning the desk clerk kJ he informed me that this was standard with all hotels not just the Ramada. This he said was for damage that might be done during my stay. I mentioned that at 72 years old did I seem like I would damage the hotel property or room. Now coming from the hospitality industry for 26 years, we would never never make a client feel less than a valued guess and more like a criminal. I mentioned nothing was said when we booked, it was not an issue of money what so ever but certainly was an issue on how this if in fact is a NATIONAL policy and How it was presented as a mater of fact! If anyone know if this is true, please share. Wow if the Industry had in fact adopted these practices, it truly is a sad day for travellers. Signed very unhappy!
If you are considering owning with this company, just know that no matter how many concerns
You express there will be no solution. We have been trying to reach out to them over and over,
But have not been able to make any progress at all with our situation. It is sad to see that they
Can be so shut off to the idea of someone not being satisfied with their company, but we will
Remain persistent and will not change the way that we feel about this. There has to be
Something out there that we can do to fix all this, and we won't stop trying to find it.
My family and I stayed at wyndam in Delaware Ohio, I am handicapped and was in their only wheelchair accessible room, only it wasn't accessible or even safe, in fact most of the guests had horror stories of their own at the wedding reception. I've reached out on multiple occasions by phone, email, fax, letter to the hotel, and main office—only to find NOONE would respond or even return a call. Worst experience ever! I had my oxygen turn off during the night because the outlet had a loose setting, my wheelchair could not get to the side of the bed, it was filthy and the air kept turning off. We had to request they call police for a vagrant who was in the lobby harassing guests-they did nothing until we insisted they do. There were several vagrants in the halls who were allowed to roam. Scary for all of us unable to protect ourselves. The bathrooms in all the rooms but mine were too small to even change your clothes. So people who shared rooms had to leave the room for another to change-only there was no safe place to go. Aweful! And they refused to assist us with it.
I just was trying to make a new reservation. Went onlline. They offered $50 off if you got their cc. So I did. They sent an email with the last 4 digits of the card. I do not have the whole card number. Next, they wanted a Rewards sign up. So I did. Cannot access it online. Called the 800 number. Got someone who had to have be repeat everything I said multiple times in order to understand me. Next, could not get me signed in and said I'd be sent an email link, get this, within 4-5 hours. I just want to make a reservation and use the discount they said I could get! Very frustrated. Still no card number, cannot access Rewards on the internet and NO RESERVATION! Getting more and more frustrated by the minute! I have spent WAY TOO LONG trying to make this reservation.
The absolute filthiest and most disgusting hotel i have ever stayed in, and i travel alot. The room was full of bugs, mold all over the bathroom, non working shower, no cover sheet, etc. so disgusting that i spent the night in my car. When i called to complain and ask for a refund, i was quickly refused and offered
Wyndham points. (Like i would ever set foot in a wyndham hotel again. Stay away!
Dirty room, hair in bathtub, mildew on shower curtain, paper coffee cup by coffee maker was dirty, tv was not working, was charged for a room (more $) than the room I was given. Bathroom door had a foot or fist indented into it.
Desk staff was great.
The roaches, shower mold, large discolored brown mystery-stained bed sheets on the fully made bed, not so much.
I wanted to at least shower and have a nap. After seeing the gross bed stains in a bed with supposedly laundered & clean sheets, then made up and left for the next guest,
I was out of there.
I have pictures of everything and showed them to front desk clerk when I checked out- shortly after arriving. Front desk clerks (both that I dealt with, checking in and out) could not have been more friendly.
One additional note- guests with noisy dogs.
I can't imagine trying to even nap with the dogs barking. Not just little yap, yaps. The dog's I did not see but consistently heard, didn't sound like small dogs at all.
I am now a diamond member with Wyndham. They have very poor customer service. The quality control is horrible! The vast majority of their hotels, motels, have hair in the tub, shower, roaches, and spiders. If the room has a wood floor it has not been mopped. On my last trip all 3 of the hotels/motels that I stayed at had a problem. I stayed at the older La Quinta with doors opening to the outside in Victoria Texas. The room had hair in the tub, floor not clean, poor TV reception, and a live roach on the breakfast buffet! The next motel super 8 in Weslaco Texas had hair in the tub, a roach, and the ice machine was out of order. There was a AC unit leaking water that could cause you to slip and fall on the cement walkway. They gave me a late checkout for 12:45, and the maid came and knocked my door at 11:30! This is harassment! The manager there has a bad attitude! The next hotel La Quinta McAllen convention center had hair in the shower! La Quinta was pet friendly before Wyndham owned it. They are now wanting to charge $25 to $75 or more. The La Quinta in Victoria told me no pets! If I had a dog they wanted me to pay $50 for pet friendly. The trip before this I stayed at 5 Wyndham properties, with 4 of them having major problems, and one with a minor issue! I stayed at the La Quinta West Memphis AR, and they had the AC set on 73. You can not raise it or lower it! The chair in the room was dirty. The next hotel Days inn Casey IL, room smelled of smoke, and the hallway. I had them change my room, and in another hallway. This was a minor issue. The next hotel Baymont inn in Noblesville Indiana, had hair in the shower, spiders, gnats, manager very rude! The next hotel Baymont inn Branson Mo, had hair in the shower, carpet not vacuumed very well. The next hotel Travelodge in Mcalester OK had a roach in the room, and the door would not lock from outside! You did not need a key! A lot of their hotels have black mold! I am very dissatisfied with Wyndham!
Well where do I start... I hope to get a full refund. Although the heat is working cold air still flowing in the room because of the cracks in the wall. Of did I mention the faucets in the bathroom. Oh boy, The health department needs to be called in for sure. Dissatisfied from Texas.
I booked a night at the Chicago O'Hare airport by calling their 800 number and explained that I would be parking my car for 10 days. When I arrived at the hotel they charged me an additional $15 a day for my car plus my night stay. I have been using this hotel for over 10 years to park and fly and I have NEVER been charged an additional $150.00 to park my car. I was charged over $315.00. On my return I had to walk-in the rain to go get my car as I was told they were only running one shuttle. I have always recommended this hotel to my friends and family but now if this is how I'm treated I will not! And of course there was no manager available to speak with. The rooms are nice and clean but the service and desk help not so much.
We stayed at a wyndam hotel super 8 Corvallis for a football game, my husband, myself and 2 girls, upon checking in the hotel had a horrid odor, the one employee could not have been more bothered that he had to help us instead of smoking outside which was the only thing he was good at. Got to our room, stink bugs on window inside and later found else where. 9 pm my 9 year old daughter uses the bathroom, it overflows out of the bathroom into the hall, all over, never seen anything like it, I was not happy to say the least, hotel was full but they said they would move us to a room that is never used, we get woken up at midnight to move, gather all of our belongings, mind you, my husband was drunk but he was never present AT ALL during any of this because he went out on the town, it was myself and my two daughters. The door must not have shut on our rush to grab our stuff because I had left my shoes and glasses that were never found again. The new room was disgusting also, cigarette burns on the bathroom sink and as soon as we laid down finally, my daughter had a stink bug run over her arm. Hotel staff seemed very nice and very apologetic because I was extremely upset with everything, but they assured me our points would be returned, i also was upset at my drunk husband and they were very helpful with keeping our whereabouts from him because of him being drunk, when he got back to the hotel they informed him we had moved and requested he not be informed, they then said the room was not able to be occupied because of the condition and the toilet overflowed with fecal matter etc, he did not have a place to stay so they gladly charged us $70 for him to go back to stay in a room that was already booked with our Wyndam points in the first place. When I contacted Wyndam to see if our points had been returned they said they had to confirm with the hotel our experience, to which I even said before they got on the other line, that I did find the staff very remorseful and the manager very kind. To my shock, after speaking with the hotel Manager, they said we arrived drunk to the hotel (complete lies, we had just arrived from a 4 hour drive with our kids in our car), then they said we trashed their room and clogged their toilet on purpose! I've never been so mad and insulted. Not only did we use 15,000 points, we also had to pay $70 for my husband to sleep in the exact same room with no working toilet. Wyndam then transferred me for the hundredth time in the past 2 days, and holding on the phone for ever, to just accidentally transfer me to no one where the phone just goes back to the main directory. We were never compensated and instead insulted, I'm so disappointed as we use our wyndam card daily for these stays and it's an awful feeling to know they will back their 1 star hotel, with tons of reviews just like mine and similar experiences, than back their loyal members. Worst experience all the way around! I fully admit my husband was drunk, my 2 children and I were not and we were the ones who ernt thru the horrible ordeal, he was no where around, I'm sure they blame my o year old for also putting cigarette burns in the bathroom everywhere.
