The order took a long time to arrive, so I planted late. Only some of what I ordered has done well.
Like many of your customers - I order from multiple providers
To reply with detail even a plant description would help me give you the best feedback
Thank you so much!
All plants arrive as promised and the only time one failed it was my fault - took too long to get in the dirt. All others are doing great and taking off nicely. Many thanks.
I was lured in by the price and the site showing that the prefer would be shipped in days. First it took weeks before shipped. Only after I called they emailed shipped on Friday. These are dry-root btw. The tracking showed that they made label only. Didn't even ship till Tuesday. When they got here they looked dead but the ones i bought from another place from my impatiens looked similar but greener. I planted immediately in the same manner as the others. I law down soaker hose and mulch. I keep the soils from drying out not wet when needed. The tn bamboo did nothing. The others are all doing amazing. I would never buy from tn again. What can be done in the 48 hours of warranty? They took a week minimum to start foliage. Scam! They will respond with something sill like why didn't I call. A week later when they should've grown would be too late. By design. Go to bamboo places bc it will save you $$ in the end. I will put photos of both tn and the bamboo place. When giving bad reviews they force proof of purchase and order numbers
Our bamboo is shipped as dormant bare-root stock, not potted plants, because bare-root plants establish well and ship safely. The product pages clearly show photos of the actual bare-root plants customers receive. Dormant plants can appear brown or lifeless upon arrival, but appearance alone does not determine whether they are alive.
Our 24-Hour Live Arrival Guarantee is designed to cover plants that arrive dead or damaged in transit. It allows us to verify the condition of the plants as they arrived. Growth after planting depends on many factors, including weather, soil conditions, watering, and transplant establishment, which is why extended coverage is offered separately.
Regarding shipping, creating a shipping label and carrier acceptance are two different events. Tracking often shows "Label Created" before the carrier scans the package into their network.
We're sorry we didn't meet your expectations. Reviews like this can have a significant impact on our small, family-owned nursery, even though the products shipped were the dormant bare-root plants described on our website.

TN Nursery
Ad was very deceiving. It shows a water lily plant but what I received were discs that I guess will hopefully will grow into plants.
We're sorry the product wasn't what you expected.
TN Nursery is a bare-root nursery, and our Water Lilies are intentionally shipped as dormant rhizomes (sometimes called tubers or discs), not as mature potted plants. The product page includes photos of the actual rhizomes customers receive, along with information explaining that they are shipped in their dormant state.
We encourage customers to review all of the product photos and descriptions before ordering so they know exactly what to expect. Dormant Water Lily rhizomes establish after planting and grow into the mature plants shown in the listing.
Reviews stating the product was misleading, when the listing accurately depicts the bare-root rhizomes, can unintentionally harm our small, family-owned business that has proudly served gardeners since 1959.

Everyone I interacted with were fantastic. I had to change the delivery address and they took care of the issue immediately. The plants I ordered are doing great. I feel very blessed to find a company that actually cared about their customer. 😍
Thank you so much for giving us a try! 🌱
Sending dead nursery stock and will not refund or replace. Thier warranty is a scam, 24 hours. Ordered 3 to 4 foot trees got 2 foot. They probably add the roots to their height. Tennessee is having drought so they making their customers foot the bill.
Hi,
We’re sorry you feel this way, but we do need to clarify several inaccurate statements.
Our trees are shipped bareroot and dormant, which means they will not have leaves and may appear smaller than expected at arrival. Sizes listed are approximate ranges, and trees are often trimmed before shipping to support root establishment.
We do not ship dead plants. If a plant is truly non-viable at arrival, it would show signs such as being mushy or decomposed, not firm and dormant.
Our 24-hour live arrival policy is clearly stated and agreed to at checkout so plant condition can be verified immediately. After planting, outcomes depend on soil, moisture, weather, and care conditions, which are outside of our control.
We are a family-owned and operated nursery, and statements like calling us a “scam” are not accurate. Reviews like this do impact small businesses like ours.

Thank you. 🌱
My plants arrived in great condition and prices are reasonable
Thank you so much for giving us a try! 🌱
Beautiful plants in great condition, great prices, fine service. I've ordered from them several times, and have always been delighted.
Thank you so much for giving us a try! 🌱
Very responsive and they care about customers and their trees
Thank you! 🌱
I had signed up some time ago for a monthly subscription. I canceled after about 4 months because I kept getting the same plants, all ferns. Customer service was little to no help. Wasted my money. In addition the writing identifying the plants was usually illegible.
Thank you so much!
I've ordered several times from TN Nursery. Any failures have been of my own negligence. The dormant plants arrive packed nicely, with instructions, and all it takes is patience (and labeling) for them to come up and thrive.
Thank you so much!
Thank you so much!
We ordered plants a month in advance for a volunteer event. Shipping estimate gave us plenty of time. When plants did not arrive, I called the nursery and was told they had not been dug yet and would not arrive on time (due to conditions at the nursery). I pushed and they agreed to dig and ship same day. We were able to get the plants in the ground on volunteer day but the lack of communication from the nursery earned the poor review.
Hi Jessica,
Thank you for your feedback—we do appreciate you sharing your experience.
We’re glad you were able to get the plants in time for your volunteer event, but we do understand how the lack of communication was frustrating.
When we mentioned conditions at the nursery, that refers to field digging conditions, which directly affect when plants can be safely harvested without damaging root systems. That said, we agree communication could have been better, and we’ll work to improve that.
We are a family-run nursery, and feedback like yours helps us do better.
Thank you again, and we appreciate the work you’re doing with your volunteer efforts 🌱
I ordered hardy water lillies. They came as a cut disc. Spongy. I potted them according to video directions. Nothing so far. Also blue flag. Maybe 1/2? Are up. 2 kiddy swimming pools taking up space in my greenhouse for nothing
Hi,
We understand your concern and want to clarify a few important points.
Hardy water lilies are shipped as root divisions, which can look like a soft or spongy cut piece at first—that is completely normal and how they are propagated. They often take time to establish in water before showing visible growth.
For the blue flag iris, having about half come up is actually not unusual early on. Many of these are slow to establish and some may not show full growth until later in the season or even the following spring.
Water temperature, depth, and sunlight all play a big role in how quickly aquatic plants respond, especially in controlled environments like pools or greenhouses.
We are a family-run nursery, and we do not send dead plants—what you’re seeing is consistent with normal dormancy and establishment timing.
If you’d like help adjusting your setup, please email [email protected], and we’ll be happy to guide you.
Thank you. 🌱
At first I was doubtful of the product since all you get is a damp root sytem in a bag.
But after planting the Staghorn Sumacs, they came to life really quickly.
Thank you so much!
This is the most economical way to acquire perennial plants.
Hi William,
Thank you for your honest feedback—we truly appreciate it.
That’s exactly right—bareroot perennials are a very economical way to plant, but some can take time to establish while others take off quicker depending on conditions.
We’re glad to hear some are doing well, and others may still surprise you over time as they continue to settle in.
We are a family-run nursery, and customers like you mean a lot to us.
Thanks again! 🌱
I received a few different ground covers last fall. None of them survived the winter. I may order some again this spring/early summer, to try again.
Thank you so much!
All was received as advertised. Healthy plants are growing!
Thank you so much!
I've had contact before.
Don't recall any purchase being completed
Thank you so much!
Plants shipped as described. They are now gorgeous and mature, a year later.
Thank you so much!
Answer: The buy one get one offer they ran. It was a Hugh mistake. I regret wasting my money!
