I booked a small family car and received a mini car - the vauxhall Corsais way more smaller than the ford focus and much less expensive. They would not refund the difference because it has "similar" features (4 wheels, aircon)

Scam company

I booked a car which was written in the offer literally "free cancelation". Then, when I needed to cancel, they stated that there was a cancellation tax - which accounted for the same amount I have paid. I called them twice, sent three e-mails, and they stated that I did not cancel, even though If I had cancelled, I would have agreed to loose all the money. Do yourself a favor and do not do business with this company.

This company is a scam company, has 6x hidden fees when you picked up your car. The worst part is that their customer service admit they are a scam company working with all smaller scam comapnies, and refuse to refund my cost because their fault.

Booked a car from this company, but the car company I picked up jacked up price by 6 times. Rentalcars.com not able to help me on the spot, and I have to pay extra money to rent another car from another car company as I can not trust the original company. Who knows what kind of shitty things they will do after I return the car.

After my trip, I called rental cars.com to reimburse me for the extra cost, they refuse to include it in the note, and then tell me what is in the note. Basically, this company's internal employees do not even have freedom of speech/written, what kind of culture is it. The only thing they can offer me is full refund, but I paid 4X times more money because of their mistake, they have to pay for it.

Now they give me an email so that I can send complain to, the email is [email protected], such email address does not list in any of its website, who knows anyone actually looking at this email. Any way I will give it a try and demand them to refund me for the extra $499.8 cost.

BTW, my booking number with them is 745697613, so that everyone knows this msg is legit, from a real rentalcars.com customer, who was hurt by them.

No flexibility whatsoever! I have booked with them 2 times and have been disappointed both the times! First time, my flight plans changed by 3 hours and they defaulted my payment anyway. This time I booked an economy car (which said similar to Kia Picante). I even I got a reminder on email 2 days before the due date on the same...with no mention of automatic or manual transmission. I reach the destination (outside US) and sure enough they hand me over a car with stick gears! I void the whole reservation and try to find where I can reach out to rentalcars.com...there is no phone number available anywhere! They are some UK based company and has only the VAT number in their contact info...How helpful is that!
2 days later, I was able to locate the phone number and customer service person bluntly tells me that my "voucher" had manual transmission (I have no idea what that means!) and they will not refund anything.
Never gonna go with them again!

Avoid at all cost! I made a booking over booking.com. I didn't have a credit card on my name. I had cash and debit. Went to another rent a car and lost 350€! No refund! No car!

Guys this is soo bad, don't fall in sane trap as I did!

I rented a car from Wisecars to be picked up on Saturday 12/16/23. I sent them an email that I was changing the pick up day to Sunday. Their email back said at the top that they had received my request. I thought everything was ok. On Saturday I scrolled way down to the bottom of their email and saw that they were closed on Sunday. I called their 24/7 help number to see if I could still pick up the car, (it was late afternoon and the pick up time was 12 noon), but no one was there. I didn't want to make a long trip to the airport for nothing. Sunday I was able to talk to someone who said I wouldn't be refunded and I couldn't pick up the car on Monday either. I complained that I thought their email was deceptive, having the important info hidden way down at the bottom, and their help line being closed cost me over $300. Seems like a scam to me.

No phone numbers or emails to cancel on the Rental Voucher. They don't answer the phone. I cancelled with the company rental.com got my rental from but that was not good effective. I still got charged $426.23
Even though I called the Rental Company on voucher a week before the reservation date.

Bad customer service

To resolve my issue of the car not being given to me at pickup due to the fact that I booked with my husband's credit card instead of one of my own, I've spoken to around 10 agents. Every time, I was told different things. Their English writing was poor, so bad that a ometimes I could not even understand them. One of the customer service agents promised a solution, but that was then denied by another. At that moment, after spending hours on chats and calls, I decided to take my loss of €700. A gentle warning, do not rent with rentalcars.com to spare yourself from their horrible customer service!

I rented a car through Rentalcars.com in Italy for 3 days. The company they referred is Autovia. We arrived Milan and get the written contract stated 15:25, the staff said we could return the car with 1 hour flexibility, therefore we expected to return the car before 16:25 on last day of rental.

Unfortunately Autovia charged us extra date of expense even we returned the car 16:20.
Rentalcars.com just replied they cannot help, and stated my contract is eligible to extra charge by the service provider.

Moreover Autovia has no clear sign on returning the car, when we get into the car pack in Florence to return the car, we only see a bunch of rental companies on an area. And there is no staff inside at 16:18, we dropped the car key and took a video. They still claimed we returned to the wrong place. They said the location of returning a car key is inside a building in which there is no sign.

There is no support from Rentalcars.com and Autovia.

I am very disappointed with the extra- charge and service of this company, I will not use it again.

I booked with this company because they offered great rental rates. However, after booking is when I discovered I was dealing with a foreign company (not US) who has all sorts of weird policies about damage waivers, liability, rental requirements, etc. There was a significant attempt to obtain personal identifiable information from me after I made the rental. THERE IS NO PHONE CONTACT information for assistance re anything; renters are left hanging if you've got questions and need to talk to a real person. This company is horrible!

I rented a car thru them and I picked the company paylease as the rental, they did not give me the car becuse I have an active rental with Avis, and they are the same company, so I tried not to get charged but there rule is that they must charge me thats unfare and robbery!

Never use again

I'm always about a second chance. I used rental cars.com twice. Both times it was frustrating and disappointing and almost ruined my vacation. I also got better rates by reserving through the car rental company, like Enterprise.
When I got to counter to pick up my rental, the car rental company did not have a record of it. I was not able to contact rentalcars.com, they don't have a chat or number to call. I had to email, and I am still waiting to hear back from them. They have the worst customer service. They are a scam and just collect your information to sell it.

We rented a van via rental cars.com for a trip to Punta de Mulita Mexico. Paid in full and bought insurance covering $75k for the car and $1mm for liability and injury.
Arrived at the counter of Europcar as per contract and were told we needed to buy another $271 policy or they'd refuse to let the car.
Rental cars.com has no customer service number or chat or text or email so we're left to deal with the issue in a foreign country with absolutely fraudulent agents insisting I pay them or walk away with no car.
I did call American Express because this is on my Platinum Business card. Amex sent the agents the policy and explained to them, in Spanish that I was indeed covered as per Mexican laws and rules but the agent remained insistent that we pay the extra money to them.
I tried everything I could to get rentalcars.com to help but they don't respond and there is no service at all post taking your money.
I walked away with no car, went to another agency and rented another car without issue, using the same insurance policy id presented to Europcar.
I now have to work through Amex to get my refund because, again, rentalcars.com has no customer contact at all.

Rented a car from NICO car rental from its website for $140, but when I picke up the car, this company charges me $890. Once I decide not to proceed, the car comapny employee refuse to show me what is included in this $890 breakdown. What a shady company, and rentalcards.com had tons of such shaddy company all over the place.

Should be closed down

I am one of the many conned/misled customers of rentalcars.com as well. I have rented a car through their website with "Budget" - on arrival at the desk - I have been told that I need a "International Driving Permit" since my driving licence is "Turkish" driving licence. During the booking process - on the website I have clearly stated that I live in Turkey and my driving licence is Turkish. The booking went through and I had a confirmation mail saying - you are all booked and to pick up the car - you will need 1.Driving licence 2. Passport or ID card 3.credit card 4.voucher... No where in the confirmation it says - you will need to provide "IDP". Apparently its in the terms and conditions which goes on and on... I can't get refund because I didn't provide the necessary paper work which I have no knowledge of. So I have to cancel my booking for the misleading website informalities and as well as getting stuck - I have to pay for the car rental I can't even have. I have rented so many cars before from so many different providers and no one ever asked me this document before - including "Budget/ Avis". And with a very poor customer service - the only response I get from rental cars is - "you agreed with our terms & conditions" so get on with it. Embarrassing and shameful business with matching customer service.
