Worst service ever!

Worst service ever. One star, only because I cannot give them zero. I rented a car from them on 10/18/21 and picked it up in Veracruz on 10/20/21 and dropped it off on 10/25/21. I was charged $172.13. USD. 100.13 for the car and 72 for insurance which covered both theft and damage. But on arrival I was told a different price, 189.53 by Keddy/Europcar. Ok, only about $17 more so signed and left. But now I have 3 charges on my AMEX credit card. 172.13 + 189.53 + 59.96 (missing hubcap) for a total of 421.62 USD. I cannot get anywhere or anyone at Rentalcars to explain why I'm being double billed. Peter Holm

Prepaid rental. Land at Miami. At curb 10:00 PM. Rental car company doesn't answer phone for shuttle. Finally figure out they close early at 8:00 PM. Next morning start calling at 8:00 AM. No answer. Uber to rental location. No cars to rent. Kept money. Low posted rates to book rentals and if late keep your money. Rentalcars says tough, money nonrefundable. SCAM

Booked For 3months in the future. Website said free cancellation and the summary said credit card charge would be zero - I was assuming the cc was to hold the reservation and I'd pay upon arrival. But they immediately charged the entire amount. Tried to cancel and the button doesn't work. Sent an email and no response. Tried to call and the number is fake! On the phone with my bank right now

Rentalcars.com for $865.21 rental.

Used Rentalcars.com for a $865.21 rental Europcar rental. Flight was delayed so Europcar said rentalcar.com voucher was expired, new one $1184. 64.
I didn't want to be extorted for 30%, So I cancelled.
Rentalcars.com said "No refund" and no appeal.
Sure hope my credit card company doesn't agree.

Outrageous cancellation policy

Up all night on Flight to Milan Italy. Arrived to find out that the trains were on strike. Emergent need for a car to make an appointment in Florence. Used Rentalcars.com to shop rates, but advertised price confusing. Hit accept rental only to find out that a huge amount of taxes and a totally unexpected $100 drop off fee were added to the advertised price. When I saw the receipt with total price, I immediately canceled the reservation (the emails accepting the car rental and the cancellation are literally 3 minutes apart). Rentalcars.com is now charging me a $143 cancelation fee!
C'mon man, that is predatory and unnecessary. Real cost to your company is $0, And no regular company could get away with treating its customers like that and stay in business. Just because you don't have in person relationships with your customers does not mean you should not treat them with charity and respect. Is that really how you want to make money?

Terrible service

We needed to modify the driver and they said the only way we could do that was to cancel and book again. The cancelation fee is 175 chf, they said they would reimburse us and then we canceled and they said they wouldn't reimburse us because we canceled. The agencies give better service and more logical modifications, as well as better rates. Rentalcars is not worth it

My flight was cancelled and rentalcars.com told me they would refund my purchase if I rebooked with them. I rebooked and they charged me significantly more for 2 less days of travel and then failed to refund my original purchase.

Rentalcars.com is just a broker, they have no bearing on the real rent car companies. Unfortunately I paid to rent a car through Rentalcars.com and when I got to the rental dealer, in another country, there was no car and the local dealer said they have nothing to do with this and I had to contact Rentalcars.com, which I did and they didn't solve my problem so I had to pay to rent a car directly to the local rental store.
Currently Rentalcars.com got my money and I didn't get a car and I get no response from them. Be aware, only rent cars directly from the rental car companies not brokers, mainly not Rentalcars.com.

Najwieksze oszustwo. Ta firma nie powinna wogole istnieć. Zaplacilem 67 funtow za 3 dni. W kontrakcie było że odbieram w Poznaniu oddaje we Wrocławiu. Zapłaciłem za wynajem a przy odbiorze doliczyli 80 euro. Za powód oddanie w innym oddziale. Nie mialem wyjścia jak zapłacić bo już było za pózno. Ale takie opłaty powinny byc uwzględnione na samy poczatku przy wybieraniu samochodu gdzie wiedzieli ze auto bedzie oddanne w innym oddziale. Do tego w Poznaniu gosciu nie miał pojecia jak wytłumaczyc jak się spytałem jak wygląda orzeczenie szkody powiedzial ze wszystko co się da wyczyć pod paznokciem. I to tak naprawdę zalezy od odbierającego. Co za głupota jak mozna miec taką politykę by była zależna na czyjes ocenie szkody. Wiele firm ma specjalne szablony gdzie przyklada do rysy i np patrzy czy są wieksze niz ten dany przykład. Polity tej firmy jest nastawiona na wydzieraniu pieniedzy od klienta.

I would never have used this company except Priceline offered a car through them. American Airlines canceled over 2200 flights today and I needed to cancel my tickets, hotel and rental car. The tickets and hotel were easy. No charge. The rental car company sent me an email and all I had to do was click to cancel. I did that. Then they charged me $70 for the cancellation fee. The total rental was 90. When I called them and they said that since I had chosen the online cancellation option they could not help me. What? I asked to speak to a supervisor and they basically told me to go t pound sand and hung up. I called the credit card company and they quickly canceled the charge. If you do an Internet review on this company you will see loads of complaints. But you don't have to trust me, use them and tell us how it works:-)

Trying to get a proof of purchase (since they state they will provide it upon request on their website) for 2 weeks now. Sent e-mails, opened cases. Nothing. I had rented a vehicle during my business trip and obviously I would have liked to charge this rental to my company. Without a proof of purchase I need to pay for it myself.
Will never book again from these crooks and I will spread the word to anyone who would think about doing so.

I recently did a car rental through Rentalcars. I returned the car before the early, for a 30 day rental returned after 15 days. The car rental company told me that they will refund the unused period. Rentalcars refuses to refund. It's better to go directly to the rental company than use this. Their support is useless and totally unhelpful. I would recommend to not use this at all.

A very poor mediator! With awful communication and they are not interested in their clients at all! Better rent directly from car rental companies to protect your money, nerves and time!

In my case I was charged by them for a whole week of car rental which never happened. And there is no way of money refund.
I booked a car via rentalcars, but the rental did not happen due to a technical reason. The employee of a car-rental company assured me that it is no problem. They asked me to contact rentalcars, which will check that the service was not provided, and they will give my money back. It sounds logical, doesn't it? But rentalcars views it differently. It turned out that according to their inner rules the car-rental employee should have immediately contacted them. In the opposite case they consider it as «no show-up» and charge you the full sum.

I paid 500$ because rentalcars did not explain its inner regulations to its partners. And they refuse to give it back, even partially.

Do not go my way. Work directly with car-rental companies. In this case you can be at least sure that they know their own rules.

First of all: This is not a rental company but a broker. Just book directly with a rental company and save yourself a major headache.

I had rented a car and paid with my Visa card. When I arrived at the rental desk, my card could not be read and so I was not given a rental car! I was assured by the employee that I would get my money back - he even signed another form for this. I just walked to another rental desk (luckily there are several at the airport) and the credit card magically worked just fine. Strange. So it wasn't my fault I guess.

Back home I tried to contact Rentalcars.com. This is a lengthy and frustrating process: difficult or unreachable by telephone and you will only receive a response via the site after a month of waiting.

Long story short: I didn't stick to their cancellation policy and so they withhold 3 days of rent. I find it unacceptable that charges have been made when the credit card reader of a rental company they have appointed is not functioning properly.

In the normal world you don't have to pay for something that is broken but Rentalcars hides behind their fine print and does not do what is right.

I see a lot of similar experiences on various review sites... if only I had read them first!

Do you want to book here? DO NOT DO IT!

Scam company

This is a scam company, do not use their services!
We had a problem with renting a car at Bologna airport and spend 5 hours there. We couldn't take a car (when it was already paid in full) because we don't have the correct credit card. They made a replacement for another car in another service. As a result, I was not refunded for the first car and rented two cars at the same time.
Their call center first shouted at us and now just ignore us.

I did not read the fine print that once I booked I would not be able to cancel or change anything. So once we arrived in Albuquerque we went to the Hertz desk to pick up our car was when we found out we couldn't change the car size or the driver. Hertz said because I booked with carrental.com that they could do not changes, so then we had to pay $14 a day for an extra driver (I only wanted to change from myself to my husband). Be the time they added tax and other fees it came to $225.20! What a rip off!

Lost $150

Made a full prepayment for 5 days for &150 through Rentalcars.

Should have received the vehicle from Green Motion in Turkey for 10 days.

We arrived at the office of the company on the day of the lease.
We had all the documents and an electronic credit card in the driver's name in our smartphone.

Green Motion refused to issue a car because they need a physical plastic card, not an electronic one.
The rental rules indicate that a credit card is needed, but it is not specified that it must be a physical, plastic one.

Now it is 2021, they do not take physical credit cards with them - there is Apple Pay and Google Pay, it is much safer than a physical plastic card.

Green Motion canceled the lease immediately at the time of contact, there were no problems with this.

Rentalcars refused to return $150, they just kept them for themselves!

They wrote, explained - to no avail. They answer that they are sorry and that's it.
No car, no money.

I read the reviews - people have similar problems - just what is wrong - neither the car nor the money.
If you want to book a car, it is better to book on the spot or directly with the company.

Do not use Rentalcars, you will save both your nerves and money.

WORST AGENCY EVER!

WORST AGENCY EVER! DO NOT BOOK! I had to cancel the reservation not because of my fault but for the rental car place fault. And this rentalscars agency in Uk had me on the phone with 4 different people 2 rude women said I can only change the reservation or I will loose the whole amount which was more than $700. One of them even hanged up on me. And then 2 other men said that they could cancel and refund me but charge me 3 days of the rental which ended up charging me $84. It's better that than losing the whole $700 but its still so unfair. This people are THIEVES! Many agencies are just trying to recover the money the lost during the pandemic. DONT FALL FOR IT.
