I had a problem with the rental car company in romania. The company try to convince me that the insurance I bought from rental car will not cover me for anything. The try to sell me a private insurance via from them. When I send my review to car rental they didn't publish it. Now I know that I can't trust the reviews in this site. Instead the try to save the client, they save the cat company.

Delayed services. I booked a car in May for my trip to New Zealand in September, but a typhoon disrupted my plans one day. I informed customer service to keep my booking and pick up the car later. The provider was Europecar. When we arrived at the counter in Queenstown at 14:45, the staff told us our car wouldn't be ready until 20:00, leaving us curious about what happened in between. We had already fully paid for the rental fee.

Wrong type of car provided. We had booked an AWD (All-Wheel Drive) car and had contacted their customer support with Ryan Christopher and Cresden Leilan, who confirmed my booking was indeed for an AWD car. However, Europecar staff informed us that Rentalcars had booked a 2WD (Two-Wheel Drive) car for us. We demanded that Rentalcars arrange the AWD car, as per my original booking. They simply asked us to make a new booking and promised to refund the credit. We were travellers and needed the car, it's no use they would refund us! We couldn't believe their response, as we spent around three hours dealing with the issue, and it felt like they were just repeating the same words. One particularly odd part of the conversation was when they claimed that the function of the 2WD car was similar to an AWD, which indicated a lack of knowledge about their products and an unwillingness to rectify the mistake made by the rental car company. They kept pushing the responsibility onto the customer to resolve the issue themselves.

Bought their insurance. Had a problem and found out is useless. They also have my wrong email on file. I tried to have it changed. It didn't work. I can't read their communications. I do not know anything about my claim

Suggestions:

- Avoid their insurance. Basically if something happens you have to pay the rental company and then claim the money back to them but it didn't work for me
- Check the prices here and then try to actual rental cars. If the price matches rent from the car rental with no intermediary and if you want you can try their insurance. This one they sell it doesn't seem to work

Rentalcars.com are SCAMMERS with ZERO customer service. They are looking out to take your money in whatever way they can.

Our flight arrived delayed by 8 hours. We tried to pick up our car and then we called Rentalcars.com, saw that they had cancelled the reservation. Without informing us AT ALL. We couldn't book another car through them as it would have taken too long for the car issuer to process. We therefore had to make a new booking directly through the issuer, and Rentalcars.com REFUSED TO GIVE US A REFUND.

Terrible customer service, terrible car company.

My flight delayed couple hours and neither get the car nor the refund. That's quite a frustrating service. It was also part of booking.com that's the worst thing because I had no problem with booking.com before.
They send me an email with some $#*! info on their website. Here it is "In case of delay, reservations will be held for 59 minutes from the specified reservation time, after which they will be classed as a no-show."
So you have 59-minute timeframe to get that car! 59 minutes then it's a no-show and this means no refund as well. Quite a scam!
Thanks god I did not purchase their overpriced insurance.

Avoid this company!
They are scamming their clients. The voucher that I got from them was missing important info about international driving permit/license. And looks like it was made for one reason - to convince clients not to take an international permit and at pick up rent company just says you - If you have no international permit or you are paying for extra insurance or you are not getting the car. Perfect way to force clients to pay extra money for nothing. And rentalcars even doesn't tried to talk to rent company. Whey to do that if they getting commission from them (even maybe commission for extra insurance also).
Conclusion - you can use this site to find best deal, but never order on site. Go to rent company site and order there. In this way you will get better price and more important you will avoid situation when you have no address to talk with, otherwise rent company and rentalcars will ping pong you without taking responsibility.

Worst company

The worst experience ever, just got off a phonecall with the company (rentalcars) for our money back for a car we never picked up because of some disinformation from goldencar (where you pick up the car). We don't get our money back even though the contract was cancelled. DO NOT use this company! They are a big fraudulent company. They didn't even try to help or come to a resolution that works for us both.

The company golden cars do not take American Express (even though they said so) and wanted to freeze 1,400 euros from our bank account. Please do yourselves a favor and stay FAR away from this two companies if you're trying to rent a car in Spain.

I do not recommend using this service. I rented a car and my deposit has not been returned for the fourth month (€230), I contacted customer support, they corresponded for a very long time, asked for additional documents, I sent everything, in the end they said: we can't help. It's just terrible, so much of my time was taken and with zero results

What a terrible off-putting experience! Beware! If you need help getting a refund which you were promised by one of their emplyees, instead of helping you, they will do their damndest to keep the money for themselves. Anything to put you off, annoy you and ruin your whole experience, even though they claim how much they care about the happiness of their customers. They count on the fact that once you leave the country were you wanted to rent the car, you will simply let it go and forget all about the money, finding it too hard to get anything from them. I do not recommend! Especially not to foreign tourists. I would never rent a car with them ever again!

This company is nothing but a bunch of thieves.
They trick foreigners with fake card troubles in order to steal your money and provide ZERO support and literally do nothing to help.
Your flight better NOT be late:
Your card BETTER be able to work in the U.S.
They are not an American company; they're brits, so they don't care about BBB or any other business rating.
They'll blame you for not being able to change or cancel your plans while your plane is still in the air; an hour late, and steal everything you paid: everything. They won't help you when the rental company is closed and you're stranded at a foreign airport with your children.
Like to throw your money away and be taken advantage of? Then, go ahead, use them.
Also, notice in the graphic that they go under yet another company, booking.com. Just a bunch of thieves.

COMPLETE SCAM!

Rented a car with this company. Arrived at Ft Lauderdale International Airport about an hour later than expected due to flight delays. Called as soon as we were there, the agent contaced the local company and was told they would arrive shortly. After another half hour or so we called the local office as well...we were again told they would arrive in 10-15 minutes in a white toyota as their van was broken. (it was midnight by this time!) Then they turned their phones to a recording and went home...and yes left us stranded in the middle of the night! WHO DOES THAT?!?!?!? This is a complete SCAM! Do not waste your time or money! One star is only because there wasn't an option for negative stars! It cost a fortune to fix the situation!

Highly unprofessional

We booked and paid in advance through Rental Car for a one week rental with Hertz at the Montreal airport yesterday. When we arrived -after a long trip- at the rental agency, it was totally chaotic at the Hertz/Thrifty desk with a waiting line of at least one hour to meet the person at the desk and then another two hours to wait for an available car. We waited in the line and after an hour, we decided that we couldn't wait any longer in this suffocating environment with our cat with us in his carrier, we booked with another agency. When we arrived at the hotel, we contacted Rental Car through their chat to cancel our booking which was not fulfilled in a professional manner and acceptable time. The representative of Rental Car kept repeating that because we were 30 minutes delayed (25 minutes delayed yesterday because of the UK air traffic control disruption) and we didn't called to prevent the rental agency (nobody answered the phone) we did not respect our part of the contract, even though with the huge crowd waiting at the desk it was impossible for anybody to be at the desk on the specified time, It's totally crazy. We were so far regular clients with Rental Car, never again with this very bad experience.

Ordered a manual drive and got an electric car (closer to a toy than a car), ended up in a location with no charging stations, could not make use of the car during my vacation - all my claims were simply ignored and they even considered it as an "upgrade". This is outrageous.

I booked car hire, payment of £509 was taken but never reviewed my voucher / booking acknowledgment, contacted them numerous occasions but never got a resolution. Sent multiple emails but for same response asking for the same information each time, different person each time and hard to understand them. A total shamble booked via Ryanair and neither party accountable. Had to find replacement car hire with another company day before travel. I have reported this to Barclaycard for a refund as no other way to resolve. Think twice before using Ryanair car hire operated by rental cars.com

We tried to get our rental car, but had some problems with driver license. Wanted to cancel the reservation and get a refund, but the customer support did't help us at all. And they didn't give our money back!
