I booked with Prestigia because it offered the lowest rates for a room with two beds on the dates I wanted at a hotel in San Francisco. Then I discovered I had already booked a room there for the same dates with a different third party agency and thought I would cancel my booking with Prestigia, until I discovered that even though I had opted for the refundable rate and paid extra, the conditions put forth by Prestigia in order to receive a refund were absurdly limited, strict and onerous, requiring paperwork, etc. To my knowledge, none of the other third-party booking companies require customers to jump through such hoops in order to cancel a booking and receive a refund, if they have opted for the refundable rate up front. It's usually a very simple matter, with of course, the customary penalties if one cancels after a certain date. If Prestigia wants to succeed in the American market, I suggest that it simplify and liberalize its authoritarian refund/cancellation policy or risk permanently alienating its customers. In the end, I cancelled the booking I had made through a different third-party agency and kept the one I made with Prestigia, because I did not want to go through the enormous hassle required to obtain a refund, and I suppose that's exactly what Prestigia was counting on, so I guess the policy "worked" for their purposes. But I will never, ever book with this company again and I will warn others against doing so. Also, I customarily get an email from the hotel itself whenever I book with a third-party company like Expedia or Booking.com, but in this case I only received an email from Prestigia. I was slightly alarmed, thinking I might have unwittingly been scammed, and at my first opportunity I called the hotel chain's customer service number (I could not reach anyone at the hotel desk in San Francisco) and explained the situation to them and asked if they could please confirm that I did indeed have a room reserved. I was relieved to find that all was in order, but I plan to call the hotel itself again and double check just in case. By the way, the room I booked with Prestigia was listed as a "double deluxe room with twin beds," but in fact it has two queen beds. That's perfectly fine--my sister and I just need separate beds, no matter the size--but others may want to make sure that there is no discrepancy between the room they book through Prestigia and the one the hotel has reserved. Better yet, just don't use this company at all. I certainly won't in the future.

Answer: I doubt it. I didn't get a refund when I cancelled way before the deadline for free cancellation. I have heard from no one, no one answers the phone. I was on hold for an hour and thirty minutes as " the next one in line" I gave up. Don't waste your time, energy or money on this reservation site.
