ID.me simplifies how individuals prove and share their identity online. The ID.me secure digital identity network has over 98 million members, as well as partnerships with 30 states, 10 federal agencies, and over 500 name-brand retailers.
The company provides identity proofing, authentication and community verification for organizations across sectors. The company's technology meets the federal standards for consumer authentication and is approved as a NIST 800-63-3 IAL2 / AAL2 conformant credential service provider by the Kantara Initiative. ID.me's Identity Gateway also has a Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP) Moderate Authority to Operate (ATO). ID.me is the only provider with video chat and is committed to "No Identity Left Behind" to enable all people to have a secure digital identity.
The company has garnered a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in its identity verification service, which many users found secure and efficient, particularly praising the helpfulness of customer service during video calls. However, significant concerns were raised regarding the complexity of the verification process, which some customers found frustrating and time-consuming, particularly older users or those with unique identification issues. Additionally, delays and technical difficulties, including issues with document acceptance and login credentials, have led to dissatisfaction among several users. Overall, while the service is valued for its security, improvements in user experience and support are essential.

My account was suspended and there is no person to talk to. The bot is useless. In addition they did not notify me that my account was suspended. I can I depend on ID.me?!!
This process was way too complicated for us. We are not computer savvy. Trying to upload pictures is beyond our abilities like reading emails.
There should be a mail in form for us who can't or don't want to use a complicated computer.
Did not work for me and I still need to access the site as it is the only way to correct my issue. This is terrible.
Easy to create your log in for social security application compared to Login.gov that is very hard to include your drivers license photos. Highly recommended!
Easy to use, feel secure my personal info is not out on the internet
I'm trying to sign in my wife ID.me account but I can't because it was merged with other account and I don't know how to do it
The verification process is a pain and extremely invasive to your privacy
The government verification site did not work after trying 5 times. So i tried ID.me and i did it in three steps. No trouble My identification was easily photographed! Thank you so glad i tried this site!
I think it's another great form of identification when it comes to government information and tax purposes
This ID.me feature oddly works just fine for applying military discounts, but it is literal $#*! for logging into VA.gov. I have been unable to login to the VA.gov website for the past 3 years because of this damned feature; and the people at the VA clinic I visit could not tell me why I could not log in, so they could not help. The VA.gov website login should only be handled by VETERANS AFFAIRS entities, and not whatever commercial app or entity made ID.me. Why did ID.me have my old phone from Fall of 2022 on file? At my VA appointment last month, I double-checked that the VA had my correct phone number and email address. ID.me had my wrong phone number that whole time, and gave me error messages saying my personal data was incorrect? Nah, your app just SUCKS. I find it ENTIRELY UNACCEPTABLE that ID.me is more functional for applying military discounts to purchases; but it became an OBSTACLE for me logging into VA.gov for the last three years!
The most over the top complex bull$#*! I've every dealt with, for no reason. Can't use your PC where everything is stored, ooooh no, need your phone and pc...
It was my first time to do ID.me, and I was quite impressed with the process, every step was handled professionally, promptly and timely
Fue fácil y rápido de lograr lo q deseaba
This little system, used to get access to Gov websites, like the IRS if you want to know about your refund, is painful, and clearly invented by a very young startup. Take a selfie on my phone while I am accessing the system via computer? Hello, I already have a camera on. Take pics of the front and back of my license? Hello, I already carry scans of my passport and license! Can't we just upload them?
It doesn't explain concepts, like it saves a "wallet". What is it and what is it for?
Took me a while to pliw through it, and it reduced my wife to tears trying to use it to check our IRS refund. It gives you a "recover" code with a copy icon, but again, no explanation, or any attempt to differentiate O or 0.
Very childish.
Easy. Seamless. Didn't realized how good it was till I tried logging into MilConnect via their new myAuth—What garbage that is, I'm STILL having issues! ID.me doesn't even live on the same planet. Please tell DMDC MilConnect to $#*!can myAuth and use ID.me. Even the poor tech support guy on the phone sounded exhausted and sick of all the calls of problems with myAuth and said he could only with they had ID.me.
After working with ID.me, I experienced difficulty until I set up new wallet. I had not signed in Social Security with new online changes and found it difficult to retrieve benefit information. Phone representatives are helpful with a video call for assistance. I did not take advantage of it.
I'm glad I did not have a hard time creating my account
Once I spoke with someone and they walked me through the process of the documents and through the questions and pages it helped a lot. They was very great and they was very wonderful about helping me. See yourself explainable things. They taught me a lot during this experience.
