It is truly a shame that one needs to go through ID.me for critical things like obtaining social security cards. I had a confirmed reservation for 8pm. Once i joined, my wait time was listed at 2 hours instead of 0 minutes. It got worse, the wait time kept going up. I did not actually get in front of a live agent to start my verification until after midnight. So i waited 4 hours and didnt go to sleep on a work day until around 1am. Keep in mind whatever ID.me tells you, be prepared to wait excessively anyway. Much better off just going to a physical location.

The second appointment went great. The first phone call was a 6 hour wait and the first appointment was a flop. No one called and sent an email that I missed the appointment. I was by my phone the entire time. Sad we have to use this to have an IRS online account.

I painstakingly signed up with ID.me 5 years ago as a government mandate. Now, I welcome having the security of it's platform and services to readily validate my identity without undue identity exposure.
I was verified by ID ME to apply for a military discount for a special programming that I will get free for 2 years. And all I had to do was verify my ID ME account to prove who I was.
For the last past 2 years I always thought applying was going to be difficult and really the frustrating. My patients are low when I am trying to understand can make things complicated for myself. I was surprised and each step or question was easy to understand and complete the application.
The interaction with the agent was wonderful. He was very professional and put me at ease. He was wonderful and while I feel very secure with Id.me handling my information, the process was very lengthy. Once I finally got a video call through was fine; however, the wait was unacceptable.
I have no problem recommending Id.me but be prepared for a lengthily wait time.
