About 32 hours on the phone and/or computer. 9 hrs. And 23 hours at a time, on the computer with phone in hand waiting on ID.me. No ability to make appointment until after first 9 hours. No choice to make appointment during second stage of 23 hours of waiting, awake staring at screens waiting because if you don't you lose your place in line.
The process was somewhat tedious at first, but it was all worth the effort to keep my identity safe with a company committed to good service; I feel very good about being secure.
I had a 11:30pm appointment for an interview
Last night. But I still have to wait for 20-25 minutes to get through. The first interviewer had a very poor communication skills! He hang up without saying bye or finish. I waited for another 20 minutes and it was past midnight and I still have to work the following morning. 11:30pm Friday night was the soonest appointment available, otherwise, you will have to wait for 2-3 hours to get an interview!

It was worthless for SSA and the biggest kicker of them all - I FREAKING WORKED FOR THEM FOR 28 YEARS. They want a phone number I have not had for 2 years, changed carriers and number. This must be going for Trump's ballroom as your goal is to give panic attacks and try to give very old people heart attacks, maybe for your illegal border wall? Trump loves you, the poorly educated.
I do feel sorry for the folks who work for ID.me and are having to talk to customers who have been waiting hours, even days, to make the video call connection to show their government issued IDs. I understand that all these levels of security and verification are necessary in these uncertain times but it does seem unfortunate that I had to wait 10 hours one day, 9 hours the next day, and finally on a Saturday only about 4 hours to reach the goal of a video call. I did this so I could have an IRS account and give the govt my banking deposit information for my refund check and the ID.me woman, kind as she was, said she worked for ID.me and not for the IRS. And couldn't answer any questions about the IRS So, I tried the irs.gov websites to find how I could get bank deposit information send to. Them and in the end (2 hours later) decided I'd take their default: if you really don't have any way to directly deposit the funds we will post you a paper check after a month or 6 weeks. At least I don't have to hang around the computer waiting for something to happen. It was a learning experience and perhaps there will be something in the future that requires an ID, me account and I can use the one I earned today.
It was the best way to ID.me a few years back when it needed a trustworthy source in applying for a new job. It was simple to follow to gather your documentation download & upload. Now its my source of being ID.me for government, state or local institutes. I don't know who does it better. You can do your research. ID.me thank you for being there.

It is so easy to get verified with ID Me and use it for many agencies on the web! It simplifies the sign in process and give assurance of safety on the internet!
I was unaware of ID.me prior to this experience. I thought I was dealing with the IRS because I was awaiting my refund. Having never been aware of ID.me it was very confusing. It would be helpful the ID.me was made known to the public as it appears it will be something the public will be dealing with more often.
My tax refund never came just a letter in the mail stating there was an "issue with my account information". However I wanted a printed check in the mail and should have never needed my direct deposit information. Nevertheless I went through the ways they had suggest for "document review" these did not work and neither did. Any of the dates that appeared available were definitely not. I eneded up going through the call process and my total wait time was 12 hours and 30 minutes before getting on call with an employee where all of my information was already Correct and should have had not issue in the first place! Now I am waiting on a follow up email to confirm my refund status. Should have never went through this.
I applied for a Veterans Discount on the computer for Lowe's. The system was simple, safe and secure. I received the verification in a few minutes.
The entire process was ridiculous. Anyone with mediocre computer skills would have a difficult time getting the documents uploaded. The interviewer was foreign and very hard to understand along with the audio. Terrible process to change my checking account number to receive my tax refund!
