Beyond frustrated with tHertz! Full of empty promises! 3rd time someone said they would help
With NO AVAIL! Would NEVER recommend Hertz to anyone and will be sure to contact local media stations, social media, state reps and share with all of my friends! I have waited for $100 refund since July 11th. I have been waiting for the refund from the over charge, have had terrible customer service from the day of pick up and going forward, as well as a Stinky dirty car! Completely unprofessional! This company could take a few lessons from Their competitors! I would rather pay a little more to get the right service!

I worked in the call center in Oklahoma City in 1994.

This is a place that requires a disciplined individual to successfully work here, and most people in the age group they usually hire, people in their 20s, don't have that.

The first thing our training group noticed and openly commented on was when reviewing the handbook that the company seemed to be out to get their employees. Admittedly, being only 24 years old I didn't have the level of maturity they were demanding in the job, but it wasn't going to work anyways because of the petty nitpicking.

Because of this, they went on hiring binges at the first of every year. People would quit during the year, and they wouldn't replace them until they started hiring again the next year leaving themselves with a skeletal crew by year-end.

I had people in the building ratting me out and even people at the rental locations tracking my supervisor done when I advised customer of the wrong information.

After four months, I could see I attracted too much negative attention. I went into the office at the start of my shift and said I was quitting right in front of a group of new hires that just happened to be there.

I now make over $200K per year and have never rented a car from Hertz. They usually don't have the best rates anyway.

Worst experience ever
August 15, 2020

Now, I am not the type of customer that would escalate a bad experience to an executive, not do I even take the time to write a review whether good or bad, but Hertz has provided the worst experience and I will never use them ever again. I rear ended someone and needed to bring my car to Calliber collision and needed a rental in the meantime. Once I got there the rep was doing everything in his power to sell me the coverage which i was apprehensive about, but ended up getting the partial for few days (up until August 5th) because i was only working three days due to the covid. The rep told me if I needed to continue with the insurance I needed to come back for them to inspect the vehicle before continuing with the insurance. After the August 5th, I never went back assuming the insurance will be canceled at my own risk which wasn't a big dig again since i wasn't working for the remainder of the week. When came the time to go pick up my car, and drop off the rental, i noticed two charges on my account and immediately called them, only for him to tell me that my card needed to be delinked if i needed the insurance to stop. I confronted him about him not telling or giving any heads up in the regard and they needed to reverse my money and he was giving the round around. Fast forward to today i wake to another charge on my account and contact them again and the manager in an unprofessional manner made me feel as though I was telling him the truth and could hear him laugh under his breath. I hung up on him and contacted my bank to dispute the charge and called their corporate office to complain about the matter. The worst thing is that they won't take any of them accountable as she told me, but will address the matter verbally. But i promise to never again get their service.the location is in Arlington Tx 1000 west interstate 20

Read reviews because since filing for bankruptcy, Hertz has clearly started scamming customers and telling them tough s***.

We signed an estimate for $375 and got a final bill that was $525! This included Hertz' %15 "luxury tax" that the rep even said was just an additional fee from them.

Rent from Enterprise and save yourself time and money!

I've rented car from Hertz at ******* 1st Avenue South Burien, WA ******* from 07.22.2020 to 07.29.2020. I've received station report summary from Hertz stating: UPON RETURN, CAR SMELLED OF SMOKE, CHARGED CUSTOMER AND TOOK PICS. They charged 300.00$. I've called the main Hertz office disputing this charge as no one smoked anything inside the car. The main office directed me to call local branch at Burien, WA. I had a talk with the agent who actually inspected the car after return, and he said that he detected a cigarette smoke. This is a completely unsubstantiated claim, since nobody ever smoke anything inside the car. Moreover, why would someone smoke inside the car knowing that it will be penalty for doing that? There is no any logic. In addition, rental company did not provide any proof for the claim. Therefore, it is the agent word against mine(ours). In addition, even in hypothetical situation if there was any smoke smell cleaning would cost from $50-$125 for a typical car, and up to $75-150 for a van or SUV. Thus this fraudulent charge of 300.00$ even from this point is unreasonable. It appears that Hertz solving their financial problems at the cost of customers.

I was in the process of renting a car at the Hertz counter at Dallas Love Field Airport when I encountered a problem. When I entered my Chase credit card for payment, the transaction was denied and I was routed to the fraud department. After answering numerous questions to prove my identity and long periods of waiting on the phone, the transaction continued to be declined. The Chase representative suggested the problem was with the credit card machine at the Hertz counter - a ridiculous suggestion since numerous people had come and gone and the machine worked fine. However, we moved to another register and made another attempt(where I left my driver's license). Eldon remained calm(me-not so much) and we went back to the first register where Eldon made a call on my behalf. The transaction was finally processed(no thanks to the Chase fraud department). Eldon walked me out to the lot and helped me select a safe, clean, practically new vehicle for my drive from Dallas to Harrisburg. A few days after my return to Pennsylvania, I received my driver's license in the mail. Eldon, I can't thank you enough! Management - take note - this man deserves a raise!

Nasty
July 28, 2020

Awful customer service I rented a 2020 car fr this place and had mechanical problems from the time I drove out of the parking lot till the time I dropped it off. The tire went flat every hundred miles when I called the desk he said just make sure you keep it filled and we will fix it when you get back, extremely unprofessional. All the sensor lights kept popping on and off the whole trip, the breaks were grinding and to top it all off there was someone's dirty nasty used mask under the seat along with 2 cubes of cheese and a lot of dirt and a half used pack of cigarettes in the center console, so this tells me they do not sanitize or clean out these vehicles between rentals. I'd stay away from this place the guy behind the counter did not want to hear about the cars faults and I'm sure they did not fix them the guy behind the counter was also extremely rude and pushy I will never use Hertz again.

Scam artists!
July 15, 2020

We rented a car for a trip to Missouri 3 days in advance. Let me also say that they had taken the money out of our account the day before we were supposed to pick it up which would have been no big deal except for the fact that when we got there they said they had no cars available. Let me also say that this was in a Sunday at the airport location. Every other cat rental place is closed on Sunday. We were due to pick it up at 3:30 but we arrived at 5:00 because we got off of work late. The girl behind the counter said, we were expecting you at 3:30. Well either way we paid for the car so you should have never rented it to someone else without calling us FIRST! She told us that she didn't know when or if they would have a vehicle that day. We went home and waited about an hour and a half and called back. At this time it's 6:30 and they close at 8:00. I told my husband to tell them we were on our way back and we would wait on a car because we were due to leave at 2:00am to bring my step daughters back. They end up giving us the only car they had which was a new mustang. Not what we paid for at all! It was way to small for 4 people and a ton if luggage! But we had no other choice! We drove straight to Missouri and straight back. The next morning my husband was making sure we had gotten everything out of the car and there was a brand new hat with tags on it, bags of cookies that had spilled everywhere in a spot that you couldn't see so I know it wasn't cleaned. If this experience wasn't bad enough they had already charged us for the rental and a deposit and the next day charged us 400.00 because they said there was damage to the car! These people are scam artists! I don't care where you rent from but do NOT rent from this business! I am including a pick of some of the things that were left in the car which means it wasn't cleaned or inspected after the previous renters.

On 04 June 2020, I prepaid for a mini van through the Carla Rental Car app for $213.92. I arrived at the William P. Hobby Airport rental location and provided my name and the paperwork which had my voucher and confirmation number on it. This is the same document shown in the attachment labeled "Your rental car confirmation". I reserved a Nissan Quest but received a Chrysler Pacifica. This is one of many complaints I have on this rental. During the time I had the rental, I had to call for Roadside Assistance SIX times. After the first time, I drove back to the airport and attempted to return the van for another one on 6 June 2020. The on duty associate, told me that they did not have another van that they could issue me to replace the one that I had. And she did not offer any more assistance or compassion for my predicament. I attempted to call the only other location in this area with no success. I also attempted to call the Corporate Office (*******252), but no one answered and I was unable to leave a message. I was supposed to be in town for a graduation and to enjoy a mini vacation, but I ended up spending most of my time on the phone trying to resolve this issue or waiting on AAA to come restart the van that I rented. When I returned the van the associate on duty, Tina, did offer me a $60 credit towards my next rental with Dollar, but after this past experience I don't think I will ever be comfortable renting anything from Dollar again. And after all of this, it appears that Dollar is trying to receive a duplicate payment on the same rental. Which can be seen in the document attached labeled "Dollar E-Mail Statement of Charges" This is not acceptable service to me and I hope that this is not the type of customer service reputation and image that Dollar is comfortable providing their customers.

Rented a car from you guys yesterday, waited three hours on a vehicle. When I got to the location that I was dropping the car off we did another hour and a half to be told I have to go to another location. I have been hung up on by your customer service team five times this morning condescending talk, rudeness, arrogant behavior. Told me that I was not allowed to talk to a supervisor. Literally six phone calls later still have received nothing from your team. I will never rent a car from you again and I will recommend everybody go to enterprise. They actually have customer service there.

I've been booking my car rentals exclusively thru Hertz for years. I'm a Gold member and I've been very loyal. I had a rental booked for late May that I'm now unable to use due to the pandemic. Hertz is enforcing their $50 cancellation policy still. At a time when all other business' including airlines are waving fees for cancellation Hertz is more concerned about their rule and getting their $50 than keeping a loyal customer. I'll be using any other company in the future rather than support Hertz and their uncaring greed.

By phone on or about March 26th I requested a refund for a prepaid car rental and was told that I was eligible for a refund and that it would be applied to my credit card in 7-10 days. 20 days later and I get nothing. Not a word. Its impossible to get anybody on the phone who can or is willing to help. I guess I will have to chalk it up to a learning experience. I will no longer do any prepaid reservations and will avoid Hertz like the plaguepun intended.

DONT USE HERTZ!
March 31, 2020

I'd give them no stars if i could. I got ripped off over $800 for 9 days of a rental that shoulda cost me $179. First I go and pickup the rental, which was 1 1/2hrs away because they don't do locally for Uber eats - paid $466 rounding up. ($200) being my deposit. The first rental ended up having absolutely no AC and it was cooking me in the Car. So I ended up bringing the car to a local pep boys. They told me when I picked it up if there's any issues to take it there first. Pep boys told me they were unable to fix it that day, so I called hertz and asked for a replacement. They seemed understanding and told me to go to the nearest Hertz to replace it. I go to the nearest hertz I was given an address for and they denied me and said they won't change the car out that another hertz in manassas will. I go there and try to replace my rental they also denied me a replacement and told me to go back to where I got it from. So I had to go all the way back to MD for a replacement! Even though the Hertz lady said I can go there locally and a car was waiting for me. Which took a full day of my time with the rental. The next day I have a new car and begin using it. The tire blows out and here I'm stuck I paid 75$ out of pocket for them to come put the spare on the car. I finally get home and was told by the guy who was called out to go to pep boys the next day and fix the tire. I go to pep boys the next day and come to find out it's the whole tire and I had to buy a whole new tire for the car. Which cost me $60. I use the car for my rental period and requested more time with the car since I've spent almost 3 days with cars that needed to be fixed up. I never heard anything back from Hertz or Uber which Uber is the company I went through to rent off Uber. I was suppose to get $85 back on my rental for doing 100 runs with Uber. Never did. By the time I go back and return the car I now owe $511 and they are refusing to give my deposit back even though they got the car back in better shape then when they gave it to me! And they are charging me for the service charge of $75 I've already paid out of pocket for and they refused to redo the receipt. Horrible company if you wanna get ripped off go to Hertz!

I'm going to be as brief as possible. I used the Lyft express hertz vehicle for 15 months and I was a very bad decision. One reason is because Hertz Elston location lied to my face by promising I can return vehicle with zero gas return limit and to look for a credit on my account for days non use ( 12/31-01/02). People who drive for any share rides no the values of those days. Today I return the car and my balance owed is ridiculous. I have called over 20 times and left several voice messages with the at this location manager Shavon Lacey (she was the 2nd person that made the promise). The humiliation I experienced when I was told to contact Lyft bc Hertz done their part. Someone need to be held accountable as I spent over $27,000 renting from Hertz last year!

Stranded!
January 6, 2020

My son and his friend flew from Ohio to San Francisco and intended to drive to Oregon. We rented a car from Hertz via AAA. Had everything pre approved. I called Hertz at the San Francisco airport the weekend before the boys left to verify the reservation, was told all was ok. When the boys arrived, Hertz would not give them the car. The manager was no help. I called the Hertz office, they were no help either. We had to purchase another plane ticket to get the boys to Oregon. Lesson learned, will not use Hertz again.
