I booked the car for one day. As per the booking, it should be a saloon but when I reach for collection at the airport they said we have only this one which was not a saloon. So this is the first disappointment.
When I return the car it was 35 min late because I had a problem finding the return location but they charge me a full day, they also charge me full cover for this extra day. So basically I use the car for 1 day and paid for two days. Hertz was using the car for 1 extra day which I have paid for.
So I will prefer not to choose Hertz again because they have ZERO transparency.

I was charged for roadside assistance and insurance that I did not ask for without being informed of the charges. I simply asked for the basic charges as initially quoted.
I was also charged $77.00 for gas. The car was dropped off with a full tank of gas.
When I called Hertz, I was on hold for almost 25 minutes with no assistance from the operator.

I had a van reserved weeks in advance. I checked-in online at Hertz.com a few days in prior to my pickup date. On the day of Pickup I called the 800 number they said it's confirmed. I called the location they said we see the booking but we have no van When said but I have a booking. The lady said anyone can book any vechiel that does not mean we will have it. I called the 800 number for another location no help!
DO NOT RENT FROM THEM. THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWFUL. THEY ALSO WILL CHARGE YOU FOR THINGS THAT THEY WILL NOT TELL YOU ABOUT UNTIL AFTER YOU RECIEVE YOUR RECIEPT UPON RETURN. I CALLED TO SPEAK WITH A REP ALEXANDER L. EMPLOYEE NUMBER 4440 AND SHE STATED I CAN NOT HELP YOU AND I CAN NOT TRANSFER YOU TO MY SUPERVISOR. JUST AWFUL! I SHOULD HAVE STUCK WITH ENTERPRISE LIKE I ALWAYS DO! I WILL NVER RENT FROM THEM AGAIN!
A tidy scam. 200 dollars added to bill for 1. Scratches which were already there (photographed with time stamp - ignored) and 2. Minuscule scratches not visible to the naked eye on pickup. I guess it's all an intentional part of the business plan.
If you are looking to rent a car from Hertz I suggest you look anywhere else. My family and I have had multiple bad experiences with this car rental company no matter which location but the last experience my family and I had was unforgivable. To describe the situation, we had a trip planned and had made the reservation to rent an SUV 9 months in advance to take us to the airport as we are a 5 person family with luggage for a 10 day trip. We had heard nothing from them after our reservation until 4 hours before we were supposed to pick up the car. Then we received a call from the manager Mike from the Hertz location on Novi road in Novi Michigan where he stated that he no longer has the car we had reserved which when we asked why we lost our reservation or if there is anything else he could do he told us that he could give us a 4 door sedan with an added fee for reserving last minute. We then explained to him that we have 5 people and luggage and that a 4 door sedan would not be sufficient where he told us there was nothing he would do even after we brought up the idea of taking two of these sedans.
Mike was completely unhelpful and could not explain to us why he did not have our car which we had reserved a sufficient time before. This was unacceptable as we now had to scrabble hours before leaving to find another way to the airport. Because of this Hertz will no longer be used by any member of my family of which we are Gold members and our business which has used the company in the past. This was a total disappointment to us as this manager and location had completely let us down during a stressful time. We want to make it completely aware that Hertz will no longer be used and we recommend it should be avoided by others as well as they set you up for disappointment and don't respect reservations in advance as they are only out to make a profit and have no interest in pleasing the customer. Heed this warning as this is not the first bad experience with this car rental company however it will be our last.
If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I picked up my rental car from the Denver airport. It was too small so we had decided to upgrade. The woman at the counter told us that the new car would be $50/ day. I was charged an additional $50/day on top of what I already paid before we got there. I contacted them after returning our rental car and was told that I was overcharged, but because I did not contact them before returning the car it did not matter and they were not willing to reimburse any money. I will NEVER use Hertz again and highly recommend using a different car rental agency that values their customers and will not rip them off.
Dont go there if you dont want to ruin your trip. Worse service and people they cansel my rental because I paid whit a debit card and told that they only accept credit card. And she told me that at last minute
I rented a car for my daughter Pictures, the car was extremely dirty and on top of that there was drugs found in the car. My 3 year old daughter found a marijuana pipe and manager said nothing can be done about it and also charged me $100 dollars for half of tank of gas, more then what I actually paid for the rental car. Worst rental company ever. I called tried to speak with manager and I was told they can't do anything about Billing. WORST PLACE EVER TO RENT A CAR!
Not worth 1 star! Had to select to be able to leave a review! Was overcharged on milage by 200km, pre paid for tolls however money for tolls was still taken from my account! Refused a refund and wouldn't supply pictures of milage! Will never use this company again!
I'm beyond baffled that a company can charge your card, deny you the car, and then you still have to wait a month and a half, and 4 calls into the company waiting 7-10 business days each time in the hopes of a refund. Each time, they acted as if you have not called before and even hung up on me once. They are not able to send out any email confirmations as emails can only be sent "internally". No wonder this company is going bankrupt. This is a pathetic company. Hopefully they go completely out of business soon as they clearly do not care about their customers.
Hertz is a scam. Canceled reservation 17 days ago still no refund. When i call no one can help me this company stole 378$ from me I prepaid for a reservation on a vehicle. Apon arriving to pick up vehicle was told unless i had a credit card i wasnt getting a vehicle. Yet you already took my money. I asked for her to cancel my reservation and she said its not my f#$king job to cancel reservations. So i called Hertz to have my reservation canceled. 16 days later still no refund. So i call again to be told they never processed my reservation. So i tell them i want my money again. Im told i have to wait 10 more days. I ask for proof of a refund and im told no. And transferred to talk to a total of 6 different people while also being hung up in the process. The fact that this company takes advantage of disabled veterans and steals from them is disgusting and they need to be shut down.
When we picked up our rental my husband purchased the insurance on top of our insurance which already covered the car. We were not made aware that this was a DAILY CHARGE. We were very much deceived by the man at the counter who purposely did not make this clear to us. Hertz charged us 800 dollars for 17 days and by the time we realized it, it was too late. I spent an hour and a half on the phone with customer service trying to explain the situation as we cannot afford this! I explained that the charge was not made clear to us, and as their customers we felt deceived. The manager that I spoke too did not care, they didn't care that we felt deceived. Worst customer service I have ever had. I asked them if they were ok if I let everyone else know how we had been treated and they seemed fine with it so here I am. We cannot afford this after all we had been through with our accident! So note that the insurances are daily charges don't be deceived. And if you can, do your business with another company.
I have been a Hertz gold star member for over a decade. For years they had great customer service, but now I can't even get a response for help with an unsafe car. I currently have had a rental for a month and the windshield is not secure at high speeds making it unsafe to drive on the highway- after 4 calls and an email I never got a response from a real person. I finally got through to someone (by calling the reservation line) and they disregarded my concern and put the onus on me to resolve the situation.
I'm on with customer service and your local location in Houston TX on Louisiana St. I was called on Thursday by Your representative and canceled for my pick up on Friday that was already paid for through Orbitz. She told me that I had to call the 3rf party to get my money back. After calling Orbitz, the only refund I received was from them which was the collision coverage. I also received an refund email from Orbitz. Here a week later I haven't received anything from hertz so I called the location today and spoke with the same girl Shay that canceled me the Thursday before only to be told I had to call the billing department to process my own damn refund! Again, this is a week later and nothing was told to me about the billing department when she called and Canceled me last week. So I call billing only to be told it doesn't show canceled in the system it shows rental not picked up! Now I have to wait 10 business days for my refund. Hell no! I call the location back to inform Shay she didn't process a cancelation when she Called Me and she rudely ask well how can I help you? Than she proceeded to lie and say I called her and canceled on Friday! And that's why she couldn't process the refund! Unbelievable! So she hung up in my face. I call back she answered, I requested a manager so she puts me on hold. So I have been typing this complaint (because there are no corporate number I can call and speak with a person that care about regular people of course) and holding for this girl's manager for 21 minutes in counting. I call customer care back to give my complaint, only to be verified placed on hold and than when a manager is supposedly coming to the phone, the agent couldn't hear me... how convenient. I will be calling Back. I will continue to hold. I will post this anywhere I can so people are aware of how this company work and hopefully help prevent the next hard working person save their time and frustration and not deal with this
This is the 4 time I rent from hertz I guess I was hopping for a change. Very spencive and they never give you the car you see on internet they evend told me they don't have the car they wanted to give me a super small car when I rented a big one they are full of

On Sept. 19,2020, I reserved a car over the phone to pick up on the 21st from Tulsa International Airport around 1:00. I told the Hertz rep that I was dropping off the car the same day around 3:00 in McAlester OK. I declined the insurance policy/fees with the Hertz rep. I was told that I'd be receiving a confirmation email re the reservation. Due to not receiving the email, I called Hertz again on the 20th... 1 day prior to travel and the Hertz rep told me that my original reservation must have been "lost" and she rebooked it. I again declined the insurance. On the 21st upon arriving at the ticket counter at the airport, I was told that I had TWO reservations! I explained the above and asked that 1 of the reservations be cancelled. The attendant then asked me to read the placard on the counter to which I replied, "Okay"...& I proceeded to read them. Well, she misinterpreted my "okay" to accepting the terms and conditions of the insurance & she charged me! Repeat: I had declined the insurance over the phone! I didn't notice the $205 charge until after I swiped my card and due to the long line behind me as well as me rushing to catch my plane, I decided to take it up with Hertz after my trip. I have written Hertz twice; they've refused to make it right. I literally put 102 miles on the car and literally had it for 1 hour and 58 minutes! The initial charge given to me over the phone was $71.31 per day plus service fees/charges. Hertz will reply to this message I'm sure and proclaim that "the contract was signed at the counter". To which I reply: Read the above again. I NEVER accepted the insurance costs and the sneaky, unethical way the attendant proceeded to charge me is flat out wrong. I will never rent a car from Hertz again and I'll recommend to others that they do not as well.
Recently prepaid for a rental car in Phoenix. Took the shuttle over to the rental car facility and waited in line only to be told there were no cars. Just spent about 40 minutes on the phone to be told I should canceled the reservation for the car they didn't have. Worst customer service of any company
I had an extremely frightening experience at Hertz Rental Car in Downey this morning. We went to turn in our rental car (we usually rent from Enterprise, but had a better rate at Hertz), we got there at 9am today when the car needed to be turned in on time, there was a socially distanced line outside. I asked most of the people in line if they were waiting to rent a car or if they were turning in keys. All were waiting to rent. I called the front desk from the back of the line, as I had a handicapped person with me, who could not wait so long, and I told them I was in line and needed to get the car turned in in time and couldnt wait as I had this person with me handicapped, and the gentleman at the desk said "we usually recommend you wait so you make sure you are charged correctly, but it is ok, just come in the front and turn in the key". I did so, and a white young dude who looked like someone out of a "Make America Great Again" crowd, with his hick hat jumped in my face and started screaming "Get at the Back of the Line--we are all waiting"... he would not stop. I tried to reason with him that I had called the front, but then an African American guy jumped in my face as well, then the whole MOB came out me. The people behind the desk did nothing as I was feeling attacked and frightened, so I threw the keys at the desk guy and ran out yelling "This is What America is Coming too"!. I havent seen my charges yet, but I would never come around that place again and I dont advise ANYONE to. Horrible place
Hertz might be the worst company I have ever felt with. They caused us to cause us to take two extra uber rides. That cost us 50 dollars. Then I tried reaching a supervisor for over 2 hours on both customer service and in the store. I was never able to. This company is terrible.
