I hire weekly from GreenMotion Bristol and the service is excellent, cars are always clean and often very new. Straightforward to deal with making frequent travel frictionless.

Leased a car from the 6th Jan 2022 to the 18th Jan 2022. First car was Hyundai Kona which has not been cleaned, had a slow car puncture and had red warning lights for brakes. I managed to get it exchanged with another one which had a puncture and I was told that i had to sort out a tyre as I had refused to take out insurance. This is ridiculous. Do these companies not cover tyre punctures? It says wheels are not covered but nowhere in the agreement does it say punctures are not covered. In any case I think I may have been given the car with puncture which is slow. The customer service is awful and this is probably due to the fact that this is a franchise. I would not rent from them again. They are a rip off... so it looks like you have a good rate rental but at the end of the day you are better off getting a car from mainstream car rentals.
I rented a car with GreenMotion through an online rental company, and it was truly the worst car rental experience I've ever had. Green Motion rented me an unsafe car - the car had a broken speedometer and tires that could not maintain safe air pressure. I realized the car was unsafe about 30 minutes into my first time driving it. I called Green Motion to notify them of the issue, and after over an hour of back-and-forth, they finally took responsibility for the unsafe rental. They proposed to offer me another rental car, but at that point, I did not trust their quality of service and safety precautions - I declined and asked for a refund. They said they could not refund me the cost of the rental, which is absurd considering the car was UNSAFE to drive.
BOOKED THROUGH BROKER WITH GREENMOTION CARHIRE FROM LIVERPOOL AIRPORT. ADVERTISED AS NO DEPOSIT. NO CAR AT AIRPORT, TAKEN BY REP 3 MILES AWAY TO GREENMOTION WHERE THEY DEMANDED £2005 DEPOSIT. REP WAS RUDE, UNSYMPATHETIC AND UNHELPFUL. WAS LIKE REP WAS WELL REHEARSED IN THIS SITUATION. DISABLED PERSON LEFT STRANDED 3 MILES FROM AIRPORT WITH NO TRANSPORT. NOT SO SMART ALEC BEHIND THEIR DESK SAID " NOBODY WILL RENT YOU A £******* CAR WITHOUT DEPOSIT." THAT'S WHAT INSURANCE AND COLLISION DAMAGE WAIVERS ARE FOR MORONS NOT SO YOU CAN SCAM PEOPLE.
The worst… deceitful and over priced
The worst… deceitful and over priced. Yes, I got a low price for renting the car. When I showed up they told me the insurance I purchased through Priceline was not valid and I had to pay $40 per day. They then went into this whole dialogue of telling me that I should pre pay my tolls at $20 a day and a complicated review of all the charges I would have to pay if I had not settled all tolls on line by the time I turn in the rental.
Total rip off / con.
Disgraceful.
Avoid them at any cost. Their business-model is SCAM, especially if you are from a foreign country (at Edinburgh airport).
I booked a car from Dalaman Airport, once I got there to pick it up, they said the car is too small! Then they didn't have a replacement! I asked for refund and they said i will get my money back in 6 to 7 days. I sent an email to costumer service after 7 days and they responded saying they will follow up.
I contacted my bank and deputed the charge but WTF? Nothing since then, I called and sent two other emails but no responses,
Never try again and I recommend you don't either.
This is super worst experience ever I had rent a car. At reception of Heathrow (actually Holidai Inn), first suddenly different type of upper grade car recommend with additional fee. I sincerely decline the offer, the reception told there is no car available which I order. Then I showed the booking evidence through rentalcars.com. And he mentioned this is rentalcars.com contract, not Greenmotion, no valid. I was arguing, and then next he recommend the additional insurance. Finally I accepted the insurance offer because I didn't time due to next appointment. Then he suggest another car which is similar type of which I made booking. What's a hell! After jump ride in the car, I noticed the alarm of low pressure of tire air. I filled up at gas station. Actually it was too low pressure, but still alarm goes on. Also window washer liquid is just water, no detergent. And no floor mat even driving sheet. Inside the car is not clean, specially front glass. It is really lacking of safety secure. Please don't select this company.
I rented a car for 12 days from August 15 thu 26,2021 at Green Motion Heathrow branch on a visit to UK, through Priceline. It turned out to be a stressful costly mistake. I wish I had read poor consumer reviews of Green Motion Car Rental Franchise. Their Heathrow Branch took an hour and half to deliver me the car because of their short staffing. It resulted in my being late for an appointment. The branch offers no shuttle service to/from Heathrow Airport and is located about a 20 minute bus ride. On return of car, the attendant charged me £160 for a very minor easily removable, scuff mark on one of the wheels. I objected to the charge as no joint walk through had been performed at the time of delivery. My subsequent complaint letter to their Customer Service Dept (see below)was denied. On top the company charged my credit card for £68 for incurring a parking violation of £60 for being late by 17 minutes. I found out later that it was their Admin fee and I still had to pay £60. Fine to ParkingEye. I have contacted my Card Issuer and Visa to dispute both of these false charges. The company has a notorious reputation. I have experienced both their poor service and hidden after rental charges on flimsy grounds. Below was my letter to the Customer Service
Dear Heathrow Green Motion,
I donot accept the accuracy of your statements and the damage claim in the below email from my Credit Card.
There was no 2 condition check done at the time nor any inspection performed by your staff at the time the car was delivered. Your staff was too busy at the time, and the car was undergoing wash. Because you were short staffed on the morning of August 15,2021, I was able to get the the possession of the car hour and half late from the actual booking agreement of 8.30 a.m. i have phone record to prove it. The car was delivered in a wet condition. The small unnoticeable scuff mark on the steel rim of the passenger side front wheel probably pre existed.
I am most dissatisfied with your staff Mr. Muneeb and his Manager in the manner they explained the damage to me. Asking if I had taken photos of the car prior to delivery. I was never asked take any photos of the entire car nor is it a practice of rental car companies. Markings are done in the walk through on piece of paper. I challenge that these slight marks existed from previous rental that your staff missed.
Based on the above explanation, the statement on documents signed by me and the photos taken today, I strongly dispute your claim and will esclate the dispute for resolution with my Credit Card Bank as well as Priceline.
After arriving in Glasgow I went to green motion to collect the hire car I had paid for by debit card, but because I didn't have a credit card they said that I couldn't have the car.
They told me that all car companies are the same, which is a lie because I did eventually get another hire car from europcar who were very helpful and kind.
I was in total shock at the way they treated me and my family leaving us abandoned without a car when we had a 2 and a half hour journey to our accommodation.
They told me I could have the car for an extra £55 a day which is totally unfair.
There was another couple of ladies that were in the same situation of not having a credit card even though they had paid for the hire car.
I told them that I suffer from anxiety and I had to sit outside the office on the pavement because I was in shock and having a panic attack.
Green motion took us back to the main terminal with my children where I collapsed in shock in the middle of the car park, the driver looked at me laying on the floor and just drove off.
I could have been having a heart attack.
It totally ruined my holiday.
Now I'm back I've got to try and get my money back, and the nightmare goes on..
I rented a car through Priceline. Was under the impression I was getting a full size cars. You can never reach them by phone. I got there and was given a 2019 canary with slashed tires and very dirty. Then I was given a 2017 rogue with a cracked windshield that they were aware of. They had nothing else so I had to take it. I return the car. Two days later I get a call talking about oh the car has a cracked windshield I need insurance information. I'm like wtf I don't think so. You know this car was jacked up when you gave it to me. Pull that scam on somebody else.
Lured in by £50 to hire a small car in Rome for the week. So far had £102 taken off my card to inform the Police regarding a Speeding Ticket (That I know nothing off) Won't communicate with me. Absolute rip-off artists. Avoid like the plague
We stood in line for 1 and 1/2 hour to get a car. There was one clerk doing everything while 3 other clerks stood around watching. The one clerk checked each person in, proceeded to try and up-sell everyone, then ran down the street to the car lot, drove the car back, videoed the car, then ran back in to process the next person. When asked why others weren't helping or why they didn't have more people, she explained the owners didn't want to spend the money on training or hiring additional people. Just prior to getting our car, the clerk, told the people in front of us she had to cancel their reservation because she didn't have an SUV. The lady in front of me went bat sh! T crazy and started yelling. Police were called in to calm everyone down. Felt like I was on a Jerry Springer show. Just Don't Do it. Pay a little more unless you want to be on a reality show.
Rented a car from GM Heathrow. I was 4 hrs late for my rental and so the booking was cancelled. They did have cars available, but surprisingly only top of the range Mercedes and so i was forced to double my rental cost. On returning the Mercedes there was not anyone to check it in, so i took photos of the car to ensure i didn't get over charged as the car had plenty of dents and scratches (i also took photos's at the start of the rental). A couple of days later i noticed they charged me 800 quid extra. I disputed this and they claimed damage, so i sent them the before/after pictures i had made. They sent me a picture of a drivers side broken window screen (unfortunately i didnt take photos of the window screen when i returned the car). The picture was a close up and the car in which the screen was broken couldn't be determined, so i disputed it again. But these people do not see reason and claimed i was responsible. After several messages back and forward they sent more pictures of the car and in one of the pictures you can actually see the drivers side window screen and guess what? There is no damage. I returned this image and told them there was no damage as can be seen by their own picture and surprise surprise they have not responded. Complete crooks even in the face of clear evidence they continue to deny responsibility. Please never use this company, they will scam you. I am now taking legal action agains these clowns.
This company will do everything they can to steal your money and charge you insane fees.
They hide and invent scratches and damages.
They charge for anything (late delivery, out of hour, small scratches, hidden scratches)
The company should be close down.
In January of this year I hired a car from Green Motion's branch at Manchester Airport for a short three day period. When I collected the car the rep pointed out a scrape on one of the alloy wheels and when I checked around the car quickly I didn't notice any other damage so accepted it as it was and made the first mistake of not taking photographic evidence of every panel of the car in fine detail. I have hired cars quite a few times over the years and found it unnecessary to record anything other than existing visible damage. I then made the second mistake of not going around with a fine toothcomb to find every miniscule blemish on the car but as I thought I'd looked it over pretty well I believed there was nothing more to do. How wrong I was.
When I returned the car another rep inspected it and drew my attention to a miniscule windscreen chip close to the nearside pillar and well outside the swept area of the screen and a small depression near the edge of the roof, just behind the B-pillar, so small I could barely see it even close up. I protested at the time that there was no way either of these occurred while the vehicle was in my charge and was told not to worry about it but put my belief in writing anyway.
A few days later I was shocked to receive an invoice for £1205, being the standard excess, and a copy of their damage matrix which I immediately challenged. Having been in the motor trade and industry for 50 years I have a good knowledge of repair methods and costs and knew that the dent could be repaired for well under £100. Another invoice followed with an estimate from their "approved repairer" which reduced the charge to just over £760, still about ten times the true cost of repair.
Due to the fact that I had no proof that the damage did not occur while I had the car (a mistake I won't make again) I accepted that I would have to pay and offered to have the repair carried out by a qualified and reputable specialist at my expense and their convenience but this was turned down flat. I offered to pay a realistic amount of £100, providing quotations and credentials from the specialists but this too was turned down. I escalated my concerns to the local, then national, customer service departments with no joy, then took my concerns to the industry's dispute resolution service who, despite having guidelines on types of repair which supported my claims, said that they couldn't rule in my favour because they "are unable to discuss the repair costs and as Green Motion are entitled to choose their repairing garage as the owner of the vehicle, the BVRLA does not dispute the repair charges".
So I am stuck with being cheated out of £760 for damage which I know I am not responsible for and can't afford to take legal action against them.
Shortly after this, and unaware that it was the same company, my wife also hired a car from a different branch of Green Motion and had issues with them which were fortunately resolved but not without threatening action.
This company systematically cheat their customers with overpriced repairs and other charges to the extent that ALL specialist insurance companies providing car hire excess cover exclude rentals from Green Motion but cover hiring from ALL other UK companies. What does this tell you?
Avoid at all costs. Lure you in with false advertising, then basically commit fraud against you.,...
First of all, the car rental wasn't at the airport the had me catch the train twice to meet them somewhere closer to them, worst customer service ever no one couldn't give you any explanations and and they. We're rushing to go never again
Is this the worse hire company in Iceland - green motion
Having just returned from Iceland I feel compelled to write this email and provide feedback on our experiences.
We hired a Jeep from green motion at the airport.
The Jeep had a few issues e.g. door wouldn't close properly and fuel cap broken but as we were keen to start our holiday we left the airport.
After 100 miles the front tyre burst causing us to have to make an emergency stop - really quite traumatic.
When we took the tyre off it had very little tread (see photo). The tyre was illegal and dangerous. Also the car had no warning triangle to put onto the road so we had to change the wheel watching out for oncoming traffic. When we called the company we were told to go to a garage and get it replaced and they would pay if indeed it was illegal.
The garage confirmed the tyre was illegal and dangerous and also that another tyre was illegal on the car which they replaced. They also mentioned the cars tracking was completely wrong.
I called the car hire company asking for the car to be replaced and was told to come back the following day to get another car.
We returned the car the following day and after much discussion they found another car which they gave us.
The replacement car on starting had an alert warning saying it needed a service - we asked the hire company about this and were told the computer hadn't been reset in the engine management system.
So we set off and after a few minutes we then noticed the tyre pressure warning light had come on so we returned to the hire company. We were told they had no other cars so we had to have that car or nothing.
So as our holiday was already delayed we had to accept this. Later on in the day we noticed that one of the tyres was deflating so we went to a garage to inflate it to the correct pressure.
Having now lost a day returning the car we decided to live with the tyre deflating and to pump it up each day.
When we returned the replacement car at the end of the holiday we asked to speak to the supervisor whose attitude was one of "I don't really care" about your issues and the fact that we were given not one car that was dangerous and illegal but two.
When asked for compensation she was unable to offer a realistic figure that could make up for the lost holiday time, lost bookings for trips etc.
So in summary...
We lost a day changing vehicles and missed booked events.
BUT the real issue we have is that green motion knowingly gave us 2 vehicles one of which had illegal tyres on it and that both cars were dangerous to drive.
If you use this company please check the vehicle thoroughly and please stay safe
Charged me for body preexisting scratches and tyre consumption marks.
However when I rent a car from a company, I dont expect to take videos or images and I was not instructed to do so by your staff. I base my deal on trust. Discrepancy between their delivering staff and receiving staff degree of scrutiny is the problem. I guess they punish customers for not purchasing their insurance
JAN 2018
I booked a car using their website for 3 days (Fri-Sat-Sun) and paid 96 pounds with full insurance. On the collection day at Birmingham Airport branch, there was a warning regarding weather so I sent them an email inquiring that if I collect the car on Sat, Is there a possibility of a refund for 1 day (Friday only). My query was forwarded to the rental agents and they said I will be notified via email or call. Tried calling few time but no answer. So I went to collect the car on Friday evening.
Upon presenting the booking, I was told that my whole booking has been cancelled and processed for a refund as requested. I was baffled as I never asked for a refund I only inquire about the refund and refund was for 1 day only. I was never sent a notification or expected to be refunded. The advisor Katie and Store Manager Jordan assured me that the 96 pounds will be 100% refunded to my account within 14 days.
I needed the car so I made a new booking this time for 2 days (Sat and Sun). I asked for similar price and similar car I paid for my first booking but with additional driver this time. They upgraded the car with no extra charge and quoted me 125 pounds with full insurance. I took the car, used and return with no issue.
After 2 weeks I checked my statement, there was no refund for the 1st booking made. So I called customer service for a follow up. Customer service would take note and promise to get back to me but never. I emailed the customer service. After series of calls and emails, they told me that there is nothing to be refunded as the money from my 1st online booking (96 pounds) was used on my 2nd booking made in store. I was shocked as that was not as agreed by the Store Manager and the advisor. Customer service said that they cannot do anything what have been said in store. All they can see in their system is that the money from 1st booking was used in 2nd and as the 2nd booking was paid in store using chip and pin method, it automatically validates the sale and their terms and conditions. When I checked the rental agreement they did sneakly added the 1st booking voucher onto my 2nd booking and made me pay extra 125 pounds. So in total, I paid 221 pounds for 2 days. Unbelievable. Never using them again.
Completely misguided and mislead by the Store Manager Jordan and the Advisor Katie.
