Agent did not identify that he was not working for the hotel chain that we were booking and that using this service would cost an extra $30 above the hotel fee.
Service rep called and listened to my complaints very respectfully. She explained that the room price we saw on the receipt from the hotel was their cost and we would never get such a rate because an individual consumer can't buy in bulk like they do. She offered a $20 credit as compensation. This is good customer service.
Very deceptive experience. I thought I was talking to the hotel chain. The agent did not tell me he was a 3rd party seller. When I checked in I was informed that the agents credit card paid for the reservation to the hotel. My credit card paid the third party seller. At check in I learned I paid more than the hotel rate.

We went on an adventure and were having so much we decided to get a room. I tried to book online. I got all the way through the steps and hit the submit button. The button did not work. On the page there was an ad to call for a better rate. I saw on the page that I could not submit I was charged a fee of $19.99. I called the toll free number. I asked about the fee. The woman told me the fee was for 24 hour customer service. I wouldn't have needed her assistance if my reservation had went through on line. Then I asked about the better rate message. She wouldn't address the situation. Finally I booked the room. I only went through with the transaction because the property was Days Inn by Wyndham. My husband is a Wyndham Destinations owner. Their properties are usually so clean and accommodating. We got to our room and it was a disaster. There was a broken window, the walls were dirty and there were bugs in the bathroom. The bed was clean and comfortable. I would never use this online service again.

Trying to make reservation at a hotel that I routinely stay at for work. Thought I was calling the hotel directly. Started through the process of booking the room anyway, even though I suspected it was going to cost way more. Initial price quoted was $60 more per night than I had ever stayed in the past. They lowered the quote when I called them out but even the revised quote was much higher than the going rate. I told them I was not interested in finalizing the reservation but I had already given them my credit card. I was supposedly being transferred to someone else that could cancel my reservation when the call 'dropped'. Next thing I know I received a confirmation email and my card was charged. What a scam.

By not telling me up front that you were a third party seller that was adding a 20% plus or minus fee to the cost of the room is extremely obnoxious

I was told that the motel I wanted to go to was full, which was incorrect. The motel suggested did not accept cats, even though I had asked if the motel accepted cats and was told yes. The customer service person was very confusing as well.

Specifically asked if the pool was open, which agent confirmed it was "as of 2 weeks ago" but then got to property and it was still closed, had never opened

Called and reserved a room for my daughter. I gave all my information and thought all was good. When my daughter went to check in they said they had NONE of my information for her room. She had to use her own card to book the room. When I checked my card and her card had both been charged for the one night stay. I had been charged twice. I have yet to be contacted to correct the mistake.

For starters, I could not understand the woman I made the reservation with on the phone. Her English, and annunciation were horrid. The hotel itself was not bad. I had 2 burnt out light bulbs in my room and there was a light out in the parking lot. The landscaping around the hotel is in seriously bad shape as well.
I booked a room with this site. When I called I specifically asked if I could leave my vehicle at hotel. They assured me I could and that it came with the hotel fee. When I got to hotel they said they don't except cars to stay when you reserve with this site.

I didn't realize this was a service and I would be billed $19.99. I thought I was booking through the Hotel and was mislead, but know now to pay better attention. I was also billed an extra $67 at the hotel which I haven't yet disputed.

We got your phone number by going to google looking for a specific motel. Made the reservations through you and paid an extra $73.47 for that mistake. Word of mouth from your customers is the best & worst way to recommend your company. I have & will continue to spread the word about your company. Even on Google in the "Ask" area, it says your company is not legit.

KUDOS to GetARoom for their great Customer Service. I had to cancel an upcoming trip in June/2020 due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. All the activities I had planned to take part in during this vacation had been cancelled. Even though the cancellation policy did state the reservation was "non-refundable", GetARoom did the right thing and gave me a full refund of $658.79. This really shows me that they care about their customers and in the future I will definitely use their site again for my bookings. Great Company...

Not only was I directed to this booking tool via a deceptive google ad (shame on me, I guess), I was charged a $19.99 fee that was not disclosed (they say that them saying that "with taxes and fees" covers it, but the "fee" was to their platform, separate and on top of the standard hotel taxes and fees you normally get.
THEN, the total amount that they verbally told me over the phone increased by ~$8 when they actually charged me/sent me a receipt.
I will never use them again and I will be VERY careful next time I use a promoted link on google. Shame on you, "getaroom", or "reservatons.com" or whatever your company name is.

Clicked on an ihg hotel site, and dialed, answered "hotel reservations" not "getaroom.com" when rep told the me total with room and tax for 3 nights, I questioned her about why the tax and fees were so high for 3 nights stay, $131.00. She sidestepped the question and stated it was for taxes and fees again, I then questioned her if she was reservations for IHG, Holiday Inn, and she told me "we are an authorized agent for them" I booked the room for $422.02, got to the hotel, and they said I got a fanatastic rate, it was going to cost me $258.00 for 3 nights, including taxes. The hotel then said the room was booked under a mastercard, which I do not have. So Getaroom.com charged me $422.02, and they paid the hotel $258.00 for my room, overcharged me $163.00. The hotel told me if I booked directly with them I would have paid approx $120.00 per night with tax. Now since this is a business trip my company will only reimburse me for the $258,00 for the receipt I receive from the hotel, so I have to pay the additional $160.00 out of my pocket. I would ask for a refund, but I know I will get the standard response as I have read in all the other complaints i see on this site. I will review negative stars, I cant believe some regulatory agency cannot do something about these scamming practices, I have reported this company to Corporate IHG.

I grabbed the hotel number offline. Thought I was calling hotel directly, mentioned didn't want third party site because all the issues. He never said anything about being one. Then the taxes and surcharges on a room that was 89.99 were 45 for a total of 135.15. I kept questioning the charges saying it didn't sound right and he said yes they are all normal and what you would be charged elsewhere. I called hotel directly and they said no way. My bill with them was 103. Save yourself money go to the hotel directly to book.

Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
