I feel I have been totally scammed by this company. Canceled a room within minutes. Read 2-3 business days for refund. Not received. Called a rep said 3-5 business days or contact them. Called the 5th day and a new rep said 30 days. Still have not seen my refund. Completely unacceptable. This company is very suspicious. Would never recommend.

I reserved a hotel room in the wrong city and besides the charge for the room ($225) was charged an additional $140 in fees. I called immediately to cancel and they refused to cancel, saying that I agreed to no cancellation policy, which is a complete lie. Then they offered me 15% off, then 20% off but it was the wrong city and I would not use it but they just stonewalled me. I will dispute the charge on my credit card. Buyer beware, this is a very shady and unethical place to book any hotel rooms.

So a room had already been booked at the hotel, they left it up as available on getaroom. When I tried to book the room I got an error. So I tried again, this time it said the room was already booked. I found a different room and everything worked correctly. However now I have 3 charges on my credit card. Their support tells me they'll get rid of two of the charges, sure hope so...

Do not use get a room to make a hotel motel reservation. They added about $200 in fees and charges to my room charges at a Holiday inn in Glendale Arizona. They refuse to give me a copy of the final bill after about 12 phone calls. Get a room caveat emptor

Getaroom stole my $. Booked a hotel through them only to be told at the hotel they were not able to have my stay due in Ohio the arctic bomb, the hotel had to turn their water off for the evening to prepare for the freezing temperatures. Hotel staff were very friendly and refunded my $$ to getaroom- They did NOT refund me. I verified this with the front desk manager. DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY!

This and hotelvalues.com which is one and the same are complete scams. As everyone here says they masquerade as the actual hotel and once you confirm they charge more than authorized, add exorbitant fees, and make the reservation non refundable. I did not agree to a non refundable room, nor 2 different rooms (I was only booking one), nor this amount. I also canceled in under 2 minutes and they're keeping over $5000+. Customer service hangs up on you when you try to resolve (multiple times) and I have it recorded. Even after I insisted they write down my number because I knew we'd be "disconnected." I was never called back. One woman told me if I had 'called to cancel' rather than just immediately clicked cancel they would have granted a 'one time courtesy refund.' I don't think the 90 seconds you apparently held my room warrants you keeping 5000. Also when calling the hotel, they had no record I ever had a reservation there, so what was held?
I have numerous accounts I've documented and I am starting legal action and an awareness campaign now. Please respond to me immediately.

Updating here for say I received a call but now there has been silence for a week even though I've emailed several times. Awaiting a supervisor to reach out to me to resolve.

The delayed international telephone calls when not answered could be cost eroding and quickly becomes an additional burden and expense

We would give 0 stars if there was that option! My wife and I were on our phones for 6 hrs on 12/30/22 trying unsuccessfully to cancel our reservation. We experienced the same as others reported, that we were on the hotel website directly and somehow (unknown to us) - we ended up your Get a scam website. Or you may call it Getaroom website.
We placed multiple calls to get help from your Customer (NO) service. We were both hung up on 2 times each.I was put on hold 46 min to speak to a supervisor and my wife 37min.
My wife had a rep use the Lord's name in vain and when my wife asked her about her comment she hung up on my wife. When we finally got to someone that "acted" like they would try to help us, they asked for us to call the hotel and get an ok from the hotel that they were ok with us canceling our reservation. The hotel said politely of course and hope to see us again soon. ( We frequent this hotel because of how they treat their guests. On my wife's birthday,they sent up a beautiful basket of goodies and a hand written note from the staff), That is how I define customer service!
We gave the name to your customer service person. Then they wanted an email. We said thanks for your "no" help.
We called back again to get a supervisor yet one more time. On hold again 43 min. At 11:15 pm we were beaten down we were hung up again!
My next step is to go BBB.

Cam. Not only was their process misleading. Management lied about the policy and steps forward. The hotel and they pointed fingers at each other. This company will be reported for fraud and more. Taking my money without even staying at the hotel and canceling on time is one thing but to waste 10-15 hours on the phone and time and frustration is another level. Asking for emergency doctor notes, and providing all information, still steal money. You can't buy time, what a shame these companies exist.

My wife looking for a hotel room in Houston somehow stumbled onto Get A Room.
This has been such a horrible experience that is it hard to comprehend.
The hotel room was $140 including tax at several other places including booking.com and even at the hotel itself but somehow my wife got sent to this site.
She thought she was going to get the $140 price but somehow they not only charged her $149 for the room but they added this 'horrible ' Tax Recovery Fee and Service Charge ' that she had no idea about and it was $ 83. This was insanity. An $83 charge out of nowhere for a $140 room.
When I called them yesterday to fix it...they said "sorry no can do" and said we will take off 20% and that's it.
I have no idea how a company like this can exist but what a total insane rip off to do this to my wife
And anyone else that thinks they are reserving a room for a certain price.
Get a Room should be called... " Get your money Ripped Off! '
Do not ever use Get A Room! What a joke! I bet they have a ton of disputes from credit card companies

Update days later after I wrote this review.
After I wrote this review, Kristen at Get a Room contacted me and was very apologetic. They explained to me about the 'service charge' being so high which still makes no sense at all since no other companies I know do this... but she was kind enough to refund the entire overcharge to my credit card and this has made me very happy. She also apologized for the employee on then phone that really didn't care at all about my concerns.and said ' I can give you 20% back'.
But I feel sorry for others that will have to go through this.
All they have to do is stop overcharging. There is no reason for this. It really makes no sense and my wife and I were incredibly disturbed by this.
But they did send a very nice note apologizing and I do have the money back.
So thank you Get A Room. Alls well that ends well.

I didn't realize I was booking with a third party until she informed me she could look at other hotels and locations. I found that to be helpful. I went ahead. After her repeatedly asking me, " do you confirm" I felt they were protecting themselves from liability. I realized the conversation is recorded so I'm safe. Before booking I informed the operator I had no credit card twice. I was afraid of getting to a hotel and being turned away after prepaying ahead with a no cancellation policy. I had no plans to cancel so I wasn't worried. We get to the hotel and the hotel attendant requested a credit card. It was hell from there. I called customer service who repeated the same lines over and over and talked over me. In the end telling me it would take 48 hours to investigate the call. They would refund if I could get a letter from the hotel to cancel. While on speaker the hotel was listening in and noticing my panick that we had nowhere to go and we had just been dealing with a storm stated they can call the hotel directly and again operator repeats her script with a letter on letterhead. Finally the hotel decided to give us a room with a large security deposit which we were more than happy to do so.

This business is awful. I booked a room and had no idea. It was a third-party booking site. The wrong room was reserved for me and I was unable to change it upon calling them. They informed me it was nonrefundable I would not have booked this room if I knew it was nonrefundable. They also left a key that said $120 and when I checked out it was $176. Do not use this site. They are a scam.

I could not cancel (with refund) or change the date of a booking when someone got sick and we were unable to go. Called and they just kept saying they had no option to change the date. Online option would allow cancelling the reservation, but no refund. So frustrating! Not using this site again!

I don't even know how I ended up at their site. I was charged $570.48 for "tax recovery charges and service fee". I called customer service and was given the run around. They could not "disclose" the break down of the charges. My hotel bill was $1254.99. Their fees are very unreasonable 31%. And, getaroom charged my account at the time of of the reservation, so had the use of my money for 3 months.

My initial review was one star due to the time and aggravation it was taking to obtain my refund. Since then I did receive a full refund so I have upgraded my review to a 3 star. My advice is keep all correspondence with getaroom and use a major credit card as both of those will help you obtain a refund. The refund process took longer than it should but in the end the refund was obtained. I cancelled my reservation with getaroom and went with a different site but at the same hotel. So the hotel room was fine but the refund process needs effort.
Great booking, no issues. Checked in 3 minutes after I booked.

Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
