After review was submitted, customer service reached out to me and was able to assist with a successful cancellation for this reservation with a full refund. This did happen quickly, and the customer service worker Jackie was polite and efficient in getting this accomplished. I understand that prior to paying all of the conditions were there but I did not know I was on Get A Room site, so thought I would be able to customize. I will ensure I read disclaimers before confirming in the future. This wound up being a positive experience.

Booked a room online 2/10/23 for homewoodsuites in Clifton park with what I though was the hotels site. DECEPTION#1 getaroom buys and makes domain names very very similar to actual hotels to lure customers. Upon online purchase total price shown on site was $689.81, upon opening the email confirmation a total was shown in the amount of $1018.13 in which an additional recovery charge was tacked on for $328.32. I immediately called getaroom and within an hours time when I saw this total DECEPTIVE overcharge after the initial reservation and spoke with shawn P who verbally confirmed I will be refunded and emailed a confirmation. DECEPTION get a room reps upon calling the number provided only give out first names and last initials making it hard to validate and track who you spoke with as they have no rep ID#s. It's been over a months time and I'm still in the process of fighting this through my AMEX I'd also like to mention I've had to reach out to getaroom multiple times in which I'm always promised a resolution, refund and call back from a superior but have yet to get any of that not even a penny back. I plan to contact corporate at homewoodsuites as I have family that works for them corporately to see if they will ditch them as a third party site furthermore upon researching this US Texas based company getaroom has an active 1300 plus complaints on the better business bureaus radar Wow! I have provided proof via email to getaroom and that did nothing and I notice all they do is reply to complaints such as mine with garbage form fitted responses.Their are so many other good reputable sites to book through be sure and steer clear of this awful, sleazy company. I will continue to fight this and look to escalate it to a local news channel and even my local congressman.

I thought I was booking a rook directly through the hotel website. As I was finishing my reservation I was asked to type in a code that was texted to me, I X'd out of the code prompt after seeing the full price and was charged anyway. I tried to call and cancel and was told no refund despite being 2 month's out because it is the hotel's policy. I called the hotel and they confirmed that is incorrect. I later received an email from the Getaroom.com service rep that came from a different URL that suspiciously looked like it came from a Priceline URL. I was wrongfully charged, lied to, and then received a very suspicious email from their service rep.

Booked a room and after I saw the total (after all their fees) I canceled! From paying 876.00 they I refunded me 234.00! I have never heard of this site…I thought I was on the hotel site! It's a scam!

They will not give you a full refund! I ended paying over $700 for a canceled reservation. I cancelled 4 minutes after getting confirmation. The date they said I could cancel was the DAY BEFORE I made reservation. SCAM!

Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
