I think everyone already mentioned all reasons DHL is a terrible carrier.
If you have a problem, good luck as there is no way to contact them directly (or they hide it very well).
They think adding a chatbot helps compensate for their terrible customer support (yet, the chatbot is only able to help with trivial things we don't need it for).
So I am here to ask you to do the only thing that can have a chance to change something. Stop ordering from companies that use DHL as a carrier (and don't give you the option to choose another one).
That is only way that with enough people, can create an impact.
My two last interactions with DHL were absolutely disastrous. In the first case they delivered my package to a completely wrong address, despite the fact that the person told them the package was delivered to the wrong address (thankfully, the honest person found me and gave me the package.) The second time the package (an envelope with documents) took two weeks go go from one city to the next, only to be lost on its way to the final address. Use ANY other carrier but DHL.
Needed a small package sent to my wife and daughter in the Philippines. Maria was very helpful and knowledgeable about how to send the package. My wife just called and let me know the courier for DHL just hand delivered the package to her! Fast service at a far price. Very professional for professional!
If I could leave 0 stars I would. Waited 2 days after being notified that my parcel would be arriving. Both days they said they couldnt get access. LIARS! Sack the lazy assed delivery person!

Well. I had to give it a one star because it is the least score I could use. Unfortunately the service is untimely inaccurate unworthy overly expensive and has a poor and irresponsible management with lousy coordination and self-denial.
I sent a package to the Uk which was rejected by the receiver due to the high import duties and never left their facility in the UK. I requested for the package to then be returned to me in the Netherlands. Upon return, I was asked to pay customs duties which is clearly contrary to the law and what their agents over the phone told me a million times! I refused to pay as customs duties are not payable upon return of a parcel and if it was imposed, then it means someone didn't do their job properly to clear it at customs as a returned parcel. They held on to my package for 2 weeks, after constantly telling me I am not meant to pay the customs duties and "they are working on it" 14 days later, I get an email from them instructing me to contact customs office in Netherlands myself and ask for a refund. I called to understand what was happening and the agent VERY RUDELY told me "you just have to pay it" and use the documents we sent you to reclaim the payment. BTW, I was still charged 17 euros for administrative fees. I was so furious because not only did they fail ate their job, they kept my parcel with them for over two weeks pretending to be "working on it" with customs and telling me they're waiting for customs to get back to them.
I was constantly calling to get them to redirect my parcel *******4902 and was charged in excess of £25 on my next phone bill. Quite possibly the worst customer service I've known. They come across as complete amateurs and SCAMMERS!
Customer service is incompetent. Do not ship anything through DHL if it needs to be delivered in a timely manner. Don't call customer service, they lie to you. I had one lady tell me that only 1 out of 10 people receive packages at the time tracking shows will be delivered. So they lie about your delivery date. They have no idea where my package even is even though tracking shows it at a DHL center. Customer Service is rude. I don't know how they are even in business. How do you operate a business while lying to your customers.
Twice in the last 2 weeks I've had shipments picked up in Colonial Heights, VA, just 2 hours away from my home near Staunton VA. They've taken the order to Raleigh, NC, 250 miles away in the opposite direction. It has set in their warehouse 2 nights, before being shipped out. These orders take at least 5 days to arrive. The 4 previous orders came via FedEx/USPS and arrived the day after I ordered them.
So I've used this "service" a few times as it's sadly the only one a company I purchase from uses. Every single time I put in the directions DO NOT PLACE IN POSTBOX BECAUSE PEOPLE STEAL MAIL HERE. PUT BEHIND THE SCREEN. Care to guess where the package is left? Hint. It's not behind the screen. I'm over this company not giving a crap about my purchase or request so I guess I won't be supporting and buying from the small companies on that site anymore. Fed Ex, UPS, Amazon and even USPS will leave their vehicle to put my package in a safe place, why not DHL?
I've had a terrible experience with DHL's delivery service! Despite being home, they claimed they couldn't deliver my package. I even waived the signature requirement and all responsibility, yet the package still wasn't delivered. The driver couldn't locate the main gate to our condominiums and was about to leave when I spotted him – at 8 PM! I informed him that I had provided all the necessary information, including the gate code, but since he couldn't find the main gate, he couldn't enter the premises again.For the 4th time! Despite showing him the messages I received from DHL, he didn't want to leave me with the package. I wasted 4 days waiting inside of my house for one package-never again. This company should be out of business a long time ago
I order my package in Jan. 5 and they told me dhl would deliver in a week. I waited. Nothing came long story short my package came a month later and its feb. 9... dhl is the worst.
Worst service provider I had ever seen.Twice they did not delivered in time simple envelope with important documents!
Never choose DHL, definitely this is garbage/rubbish service which deserves zero score.
They delivered my box in the wrong location! This is an Int'l shipment from my family.I called customer service Frank and said they'll email after 2hrs but NONE! I emailed them but only apoligizes but still NO RESOLVE on my issue! Where is my box?! We trusted you! Very disappointing service!
Absolutely terrible. I updated my settings to have them do a no contact delivery and leave it at my door and they don't. Instead they don't deliver at all because they said there was no confirmation from concierge. What part of no contact did we miss here? How are they still in business? Going one step further makes a world of difference.
DHL claimed that my address "didn't exist" even though their tracking map clearly and accurately showed my address. When I called their customer service just minutes after the driver "couldn't find" my address, I was informed that they have no way to contact the driver! So I had to change to a different address and it will not be delivered for at least two more days (if it is delivered at all). How is it that drivers cannot find a building that is clearly marked on their own map? Or that there is no way to call the drivers and have them actually do their job?
I was overseas and sent a package homeward with DHL to arrive when I returned- it was small enough not to need to pay customs. DHL sent it back without informing me, lied about calling me 3 times, denied any wrongdoing, and refused to refund. I'm a poor student and had to pay over 100$ again. I went with FedEx next, which is far more reliable.

We have sent total of five packages from Tübingen to Berlin since we were moving to the capital. We used the option Packstation, thinking that it will be safer, given the higher rate of criminality in Berlin rather in smaller cities (we were afraid to be robbed). Apparently in order to receive a packet from a Packstation you need to be registered and activate a code and this is not written anywhere and was not communicated to us when we made the shipment. We thought the QR code is enough. Two packages got luckily redirected to a Filiale nearby in Berlin but three of them got sent back to our old address in Tübingen and we cannot do anything to change that. We called Customer service and they say we cannot change it, then how do you take care of your customers actually? Where is the humanity in your work and the respect and care for the customers? Why do you have to work like machines and do everything automatically? It is not excellence simply delivered, it is a pain in the... And really I will never use DHL never again! On top of all of this, the guy from DHL shop in Tübingen was so smart to write the name of my partner on the app as just 'Muhammed, Berlin', without writing his last name, as there is only one Muhammed in Berlin! Of course we lost 50 € which will not be returned to us and we have to organise how to get our stuff back, which contained valuable things not money-wise but were important memories and my master's notebooks!
Find a better service, don't trust these people. They are just machines who don't help and don't do their job properly.
DHL scam
Sending my items which cost around 80 euros.
Paid 160 euros courier charge but still they took 98 euros from receiver in the name of customs.
If we need to pay in every customs why they didnt inform us before. Why this $#*!ing company taking 160 euro delivery charge!

Answer: DHL always damaged my packages, I don't understand how they are still in business!
Answer: Difficult. Automated system. Rip off phone charges. Cost so far to track our parcel, possibly missing has been around £25 in phone charges. Still trying. They wont phone you back and yet it is their error.
