I recently ordered a used motor from CarMonkeys for a 1998 S-10. I paid almost $1200 for the motor plus another $185 for residential shipping. When the motor arrived it was caked in mud and dirt, had bent pulleys, etc. Overall it looked horrible and there is no way I could or would accept it or trust that it would actually run once I installed it, keep in mind you only have 30 days to return it. It honestly looked like it had been set outside on the ground for a couple of years before being shipped. You can find these motors from $300 to $800 almost anywhere, I ordered from CarMonkeys because they offered a 5 warranty on parts and said the motor was in good running condition. That is not what I received, not even close. When I called about the motor and told them I would not accept it, I then got hit with over $500 in charges to return it. So basically, once all is said and done, I just paid $500+ for nothing but a horrible experience. Their customer service did not care, said it was my fault for not accepting it (the very first thing they said) and I should have known that it would not be "perfect" since it was an old motor. I never asked for perfect nor did I expect it. But I did expect good running condition, not the condition it was in. Admittedly I got a little upset on the phone after being told it was my fault, but seriously? For $1200 you would expect a little better than what I received. Keep in mind before you buy that if you receive a POS then it will be your fault and you will still end up paying a large amount of money while ending up with nothing.

I purchased a 1980 Oldmobile 350 Vin: R engine. Engine came late and what I received was a 1977 350 that was rusted out with slug caked in the heads with broken manifold studs. What makes matters worse when I called to tell them about the situation the person their told me that they didn't care if the got business and all we have to do is take the motor apart and clean. They also said as long as I got a comparable engine its all that matters. Which would ending up voiding the warranty. So I filed a complaint through paypal for my refund. They are the worse ever...

Sir, you've called us today about refund and we gave you the shipping address where to ship your part back. The only comment we had was that this is used part for 36-year old engine - not rebuilt and not new. It's removed from a running car and it may not be clean. Everything else is your emotional narrative that we have nothing to do with. Please calm down and return your part if you don't like it.

Your customer service representative was very rude and hung up in my face after simply asking him how many miles an engine had on it. He stated that the warranty will not covered but I did not ask about the warranty. I simply wanted to know how many miles were on the engine. It is not his concern of what I do after I buy the engine. I just needed to know the mileage of the two engines and HE absolutely refused to tell me the milage on the 5.8 after asking about the 5.0 first. He has no Idea what I plan on doing with these engines. After telling him that I only wanted to know the milage and it wasn't my purpose to simply replace the engine, He got mad and told me that I can't do that and it won't fit. And I told him that I just wanted to know the milage. And then he hung up on my face. I will not be buying anything from your website and I will be writing long reviews on every google related review website that I am able to. He should be fired or replaced for talking to customers that kind of way. I wish he worked for me. Disrespectful. I was planning on buying 6 engines from this website including 2 5.0s possible a 5.8 and a 3.0 for a 35i, but your guy just made you loose out on all those sells just want to make that clear! I was about to spend around $15,000 on this website and this guy just totally blew my mind with his poor customer service skills. I do not even care if this is the cheapest place to get the engines I will pay more just because of the disrespect this representative showed.

Good parts
April 7, 2016

I needed engine replacement for my Ford Mustang. Ive did some searches and the best combination of price and warranty was offered by CarMonkeys. I placed order online and then called them to confirm engine mileage. It was delivered in 5 days and my mechanic quickly put it in. It was done two months ago and there are no issues.

If you do business with these clowns or should I say monkeys you deserve what you get for not listening. They make it look good with there useless warranty. I received a motor from them that looked like they found on the side of the road. The looks of it prompted me and my license mechanic to open the oil pan. Found a broken spring and metal shavings. Took it to the machine shop and they found a bent crank, burnt bearings on crank and connecting rods. Crank journal warped. After I told monkeys about it and sent an invoice to them from the machine shop they still wanted me to have a license mechanic install the engine. This is crazy to pay a license mechanic to install a useless motor into your vehicle and just keep paying more money for something that you know is not going to work. Just like the other reviews they are rude, do not answer the phone or emails and just string you along until you are totally frustrated and go away. PayPal also was no help. They wanted me to ship the motor back to monkeys from Hawaii at my expense. One of the reasons I purchased the motor from them is because of the free shipping in the continental US. They sent it to the west coast and I paid for the rest of the way. Now PayPal wants me to reassemble the motor and ship it all the way back to NJ at my expense, much more than the motor cost me. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid I must be for not listening to the other reviews. I'm not doing it, all I can do is lick my wounds. Beware, Beware, Beware people, go somewhere else.

No complains
February 12, 2016

Bought used transmission for Mercedes 2001. There were few options I wasn’t sure so I had to call Car Monkeys support. All was explained nicely and I’ve made my decision. Freight arrived week later. No complains – all is working fine. Good, inexpensive merchandise.

Terrible!
January 26, 2016

I wish I had read the reviews! They sent us a motor that was junk. Said they sent a new one but it was "lost" refused to give out tracking number. Now I paid to have the first one installed for nothing. I have to start over, we wasted so much time and so much money. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!

This company is a total rip off. DO NOT BUY BUYER BEWARE! Bought engine came in And was Horrible I wish I could post pictures. Engine was DRAINING oil out of this diesel fuel pump broken, yes pump should not have even came on, but was broken through block from dragging ground busted through skid. Even had to pay Osha to come and do clean up. Carmonkey charged me 20% restocking and charged me to ship back. Total cost over 700$! This company is crooked and 30 day no hassle return is a joke they wouldn't take back this piece of garbage Diesel engine... This is not a company but nothing less than a back yard junk yard! Do not buy do not buy do not buy!

WHAT A BUNCH OF BULL
November 19, 2015

This was a total rip off for me.
We expected an engine like the picture on line and receive a filthy old engine that I am unsure will even run. Rust in the water pump. Corrosion in the oil. To return it I would have to fork out about $1000. 00 dollars. WHAT A BUNCH OF BULL.

Happy customer
November 13, 2015

Car Monkeys was good at fulfilling their promise of quick shipping. Weve got our Toyota Solara engine shipped in one day and being delivered in 3! It was relatively new engine with only 65k on it. My mechanic took time to mount it properly and I am happy to say that all worked out perfect. Engine is good and car is working!

Good part
November 10, 2015

Transmission in our 8 years old Honda Accord stopped shifting between 2 and 3 gear. We were so disappointed! We started searching around and the best deal came from Car Monkeys we also considered their 5 year warranty better than the manufacturer. Thanks for fast shipment and efficient work of our mechanic - car was fixed in a week.

Replacement transmission for the Chevy a have come in a few days. It was old, over 15 years old but it works well. I am happy to have additional 5 years warranty in a case something fails. No problems so far, car is running strong and transmission is smooth.

September 24, 2015

I had warranty issue with the Passat engine that Ive purchased year ago. I supplied my mechanic statement saying what is wrong and new used engine was sent for free. Swapping it took one day, mechanic reconnected everything carefully and car is on the road again. Good service and good warranty.

I’ve got it delivered in 4 days and did replacement immediately with my friend’s help. Happy to report that car running again and I can enjoy the rest of the summer!
