Worst customer service experience I've had buying a part online in my life. They committed to a day the part I ordered would be delivered "at the latest." When it didn't get there, I called in to get tracking information. It wasn't even on a truck yet. When I told the rep that was unacceptable and that I make sure my online reviews of my experience said as much, he told me he was cancelling my order and issuing a full refund because "it was in the best interest of the company" not to do business with someone who was threatening to post negative reviews online. I asked to speak with someone that might be able to accept my complaint and he told me he's the "manager, so there's nobody above him for me to talk to." After summarizing that they were refusing to do business with me despite already paying for the product and having a sales contract in place before I make my submission to the Better Business Bureau, he puts me on hold for ten minutes. Comes back on and shortly says your order is estimated to be there no earlier than next Monday (one week after they had originally told me it would be here at the latest). Awesome. Don't deal with this place. It's a rinky dink parts shop in New Jersey masquerading as an online parts giant. Their stock trades publicly for $0.02/share over-the-counter. Go to Autozone.

I ordered a transmission which was supposed to be knew. It was ditry/filthy, look like they just pulled it out of a car and put it on a pallet and sent it to me. I tried to send it back they refused it. Lies to my credit card company about what condition it was in and told them they sell all used parts etc. So now I'm stuck with a $1700 payment and they refused to except it through R&L.the carrier company they sent it through the bill was $695 just to ship it back. And I refused to pay for an item that I did not want. The are Frauds big time. I warn you if you know what's best. STAY AWAY

Waist of money
November 9, 2017

I wish I would have seen these reviews before I dealt with the company. Company sent a broken transmission. Transmission acted up on day 1 and broke on day 2 Cost $500.00 to have the transmission put in and another $250.00 to have it dropped and sent back. Yes they offered to send me another transmission, but I could see where it was going. Didn't want to take the risk of the same process happening. Had to pay $287.00 to ship it back to them and then had to pay a 20% restocking fee. Company doesn't want to take ownership and they have an answer for everything. I will cut my losses and chunk it up to another poor decision. Thanks Car Monkeys for excellent customer service.

Kent,
I am sorry the transmission you purchased failed, however, we did test the part here, it worked fine, you installed it and it worked fine, the next day it failed. We have no way of knowing when a product will fail in such a manner, I see that they did offer a replacement at no cost to you, however, you chose to return this product at your cost. I am sorry we did not meet your expectations.

Order goes through, they get their money and never show the order online or ship. Kevin who seems to be the only employee gives vague answers, and when you threaten to cancel transaction with your bank because a week has gone by and you have no proof of order, he gets nasty.

WRONG AXLE
October 12, 2017

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE ORDERED WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A GU2 REAR AXLE AND RECEIVED A GT4. CANNOT RUN THE 4WD TILL I GET THE MATCHING RING AND PINION NOW. CALLED AND WAS TOLD THEY DID SEND THE WRONG PART AND DIDN'T EVEN HAVE GU2 AXLE I NEEDED. OBVIOUSLY PULLED THE DIF COVER, CAN WE NOT COUNT OR WHAT, MONKEYS IS RIGHT, WOULD NOT SUGGEST BUYING PARTS FROM THESE PEOPLE.

We agree this axle was for a 1980 model GU2 when you had called we looked up and verified the wrong part was sent out, upon further investigation due to the age and location the correct part was supposed to be in we found that this axle had been sent, we offered a full refund and free shipping of the incorrect axle back, the customer stated "That aint gonna work, I will keep this axle" We explained the ratio was incorrect and did not want to burden him with this task of having to regear the front axle on his truck, again offered a full refund and offered free shipping back. This customer chose to keep the axle. We attempted everything to make this right. These mistakes are not common and happen few and far between, we are truly sorry the wrong part got sent out but we did offer a 100% money back option, you simply declined this.

You don't even deserve a 1 star rating. Rude and very unprofessional. The man said he didn't even care if I got my refund back. Beware of this scam artist!

This customer attempted to defraud the company and is angry that they were caught. They placed an order waiting until the shipment was preparing to ship and filed a chargeback, the shipment was stopped and a refund in full was issued. The company would rather not risk losing the $2200 motor to a pair of scammers. They even tried to convince the company that since the one customer was a nurse she would never do such a thing and we should just send the motor. Their argument was laughable.

I ordered a 5 year warranty manual transmission. Received it strapped to a pallet with black plastic around it. Looks like a kid did it. I unwrapped it and first thing I checked was the shifter and changing gears. It will only shift into 1st and 2nd gear and its a 5 speed trans, Yay. So I emailed them about the issue and they claimed it had to be installed before it would change gears. Daaaaa I'M not installing a non working trans into my car. I have raced cars for the SCCA many years and have worked on many cars and the first thing you check after rebuilding a trans is a bench test shifting of all the gears. So I get a call from one of the staff after exchanging emails and he is a total jerk to me on the phone over talking, interrupting and yelling at times. Telling me I dont know what I'M doing and if I dispute the credit card charge they will get the 20% restock fee because I agreed to the terms. It got to a point of him yelling so much I hung up on him. CarMonkeys are exactly that, more like 20% ScamMonkeys. Dont waste your time or money. Check out the shipment pic.

This is false. The calls are recorded and can be made available. This customer has not tested the transmission but rather claims by moving the shifter on the pallet the part is bad, we have a video of this transmission in the vehicle being tested. The transmission shifted into all gears forward and reverse. The customer stated he would like to return the part, we explained this is fine he would need to cover the return shipping and 20% restocking fee due to the return not being in our error but rather than proceeding with a return he threatened a dispute. We stand by our decision on this one, we run and test 100s of transmissions a week, we back everything we sell with a 1 or 5 year warranty, this customer who claims to have worked on race cars thought he bought a remanufactured unit and not a used unit and that is where the problem lays. He tried to strong arm us and we stood up to him so he resorts in writing then petty reviews online. We stand ready and will not be strong armed by persons such as this who attempt to bash us because they are having buyers remorse as they misunderstood what they were buying.

Customer Service Rep <*******@carmonkeys.com>
4:00 PM (28 minutes ago)

To me
You ordered a run and tested used transmission, it is 30 years old, it will show signs of ware. It was run and tested and has a 1 year warranty on it. No mistake was made.

MY RESPONSE:
Ok well then we just paid almost $1000. 00 for a junkyard transmission. We are an auto repair shop we could have gotten a transmission in much better shape than the one sent for a fraction of the price. I am requesting now a full refund with no stocking fee or freight fee, Or I will be disputing this with my credit card company. I wish I had looked at your reviews before purchasing this transmission that looks NOTHING remotely like what was pictured. Your company has nothing but horrible and very similar reviews to as my issue.

THEIR RESPONSE:
Customer Service Rep
4:21 PM (8 minutes ago)

To me
The transmission was run and tested and removed. It is backed with a 1 year warranty on a 30 year old transmission. If you wish we can arrange the shipping back but that will be deducted from the refund as well as a 20% restocking fee. We did nothing wrong here, you ordered and thought it was a remand when it clearly states the product is used. You can file a dispute if you like the credit card company will side with us as you agreed to our terms and conditions, you can not make your own up as you see fit.

We sell run and tested used auto parts, under each picture it will state "This is not an actual picture of product", we stand by the our rep here, where we did nothing wrong here, you ordered a used part and received a used part which was run tested and backed with a warranty.

I'm blind so I'm not saying that I couldn't have made a mistake but in the order form at clearly said Chevrolet pickup 3500 I will send a transmission for a motorhome the staff refused to talk to the transmission shop in Reno Nevada so it is much more worth it for me to eat $1,000 and just buy a new one here. You definitely won't have me darkening their door again.

After looking into this, the transmission sent did come out of a motorhome, however, it was the same transmission that came out of a Chevy 3500. The customer let us know of the situation and provided a number to the "shop" when we called the number there was no answer. I am unsure why the customer is stating it was worth it to eat $1000 when he never returned the part and could have gotten a refund. This sounds fishy. Also we never knew the customer was blind however this does not change anything and is irrelevant to the sale.

Telephone: perpetual hold. Mailbox always full, so no messages can be left. The one time I got through (after hours), ready to purchase his advertised motor, he said, "I don't know that we still have it; it has been on the shelf at least 9 years. I'll call you back tomorrow." That was 2 weeks ago. I've sent 4 emails to contact me with NO RESPONSE. Their extension 18 & 19 is parts, but they don't answer either. These guys must be fronting for something else.

Sir, I asked the after hours team, they advised that the recall this question and response, you were told in fact the part has been on the shelf for 9 years and is unlikely it was still available as our inventory rotates rapidly, it is unlike anything would still be here from 8-9 months let alone 9 years it was simply never removed from the system. You then asked the rep to call you back if we did have it in stock, which we do not and this is why you were not called back. If you wish to provide me with your phone number I can locate the recorded call and send you a copy as well.

What a bunch of a holes. You order a part, confirm the order then they 1. Ignor you - don't ship it and tell you that the part didn't pass their inspections so they had to source a new one - but of course didn't email/call to tell you. 2. finally ship part and its the wrong year part and then when questions about the bait and switch, they tell you their website gives them the right to ship them whatever the hell they want because it "should work". Don't ever do business with them.

That is incorrect. The customer was sent a direct interchange for the part that they ordered, which is clearly stated on our website. The customer was absolutely not told it "should work" as he wrote in quotations, he was told it does work. This customer continues to send threatening, vulgar emails.

They are the most dishonest company, we order a motor for $750, and when we view the motor we realized it was to big for what we need, we didn't touch or unpack the motor and talk to the delivery guy that we want to returned, he was OK and we sign the return form, when I email the company about the situation they stated that they with refund $320 until they received the motor back, a week later I ask what happen with the rest or the refund and this is what they said back and forward:
"" CarMonkey: That is all your getting back the transaction is completed. You were charged the shipping back and partial cost of the shipping we spent to send this motor to you.
Me: SO you are telling me that you are charging me $445 for that, are you insane, this is a robbery I want my refund
CarMonkey:: Knock your self out. You were told before that you were being charged the shipping back and restocking fee. ""

I ordered an engine from this site that supposedly carried a 5-year warranty and was guaranteed to be in "satisfactory running condition." It arrived broken and inoperable. After trying to contact someone from the company for 2 weeks, I finally received a one line response via email stating that none of the problems I mentioned were covered under the warranty for which I paid extra. That aside, one should avoid them simply because they may soon be out of business according to their recent quarterly reports.

"Car Monkeys Group filed its 10-K on Oct 13,2015 for the period ending Jun 30,2015. In this report its auditor, Pritchett, Siler & Hardy, P. C., gave an unqualified opinion expressing doubt that the company can continue as a going concern."

I've been calling since 8:30 a.m. to 4pm. I still haven't been able to talk to anyone. I even left a message stating my name and # and what I'm looking. This is unexceptable. I don't want anything from this site. You need to be closed down.

Is more like 2 to maybe 3 weeks cause I still haven't received anything. Customer service is HORRIBLE. They make you wait on the line and after 20 to 30 minutes they just hang up on you, no accident because I've call several times and the same thing. The only thing I hope is that when I do get my engine I have no problems with it. NEVER AGAIN!

Next time, this fraudulent company ought to pay the premium for fake reviewers that actually know how to punctuate their contractions. It's called an apostrophe, fellas. Your fake reviews would flunk any 2nd grade grammar quiz. "Im" sure you can rebuild engines about as well as you can punctuate. :)

Fraud company!
October 15, 2016

I would not be surprised if this company wasn't legitimate! The manager "Brian" was just as unprofessional as his "coworker" / friend Peter who supposedly works in the parts department at ext 18... In the middle of coming to a resolution, Brian calls his friend / "coworker" peter on 3 way and they began to both use aggressive tones solely off me checking the status of my order I paid $2500 for. I advised him I will be leaving an online review due to them being unprofessional & requested a refund. So far I haven't received my part or refund. Upon calling back they would answer & hang the phone up w/of saying hello. Very unprofessional and I doubt if this company is legit. Please read other online reviews before deciding. Brian refused to let me speak to upper management, this place is a nightmare
