They take your money, but don't issue tickets

Today I purchased a round trip ticket on Trip.com and made payment. The money went out of my account but instead of being emailed my tickets, I received an email stating the tickets would be issued in 8 days. Concerned after reading several reviews of customer experiences where tickets were not issued and/or refunds not given, I contacted Trip.com through the website chat function. Here a representative confirmed that they do not have access to my tickets as this sits with the airlines. When I pressed them on how they could take money for tickets they did not have access to, they offered me a refund that would be processed in up to 14 days — after I am scheduled to fly. I can't buy new tickets from the airline directly even though they are available because Trip.com has my money. I am a cancer patient and need to fly to the US on certain dates to meet with specialists and not my whole trip is in jeopardy. Do not fall for the slightly cheaper fares they advertise. They do not issue tickets.

I have had such a headache with this company and lost my ticket and my money! Not to mention wasted my money on the "extra's" which draw you into a false sense of security of thinking that your money is protected but I can tell you it is not!
For example...their "one year open ticket" ends up being useless when they do not tell you that the actual airline does not operate for approximately 6 months of that year and when you find that information out on your own when you try and book, there are no flights to book! So hundreds they get to keep and leave you out of pocket and no ticket. They take no responsibility for not providing the full information that any customer would expect, disgusting.
Another example...the "extra's" you pay for to protect your ticket in case you need to make a change etc is also a con, as Trip.com do not tell you that the airline does not allow changes in anycase so what on earth are customers paying extra for if the services is unavailable! But of course you only find out when you have handed your money over and again they wash their hands of any responsibility.
I cannot stress how much I regret making any bookings with this company. AVOID AVOID AVOID, unless you want to be out of pocket.

I purchased 2 tickets from Bangkok via Ho Chi Min to Hong Kong. Realising my mistake I contacted them within 24hrs to requested trip.com make a reservation refund request to both airlines for both tickets. They refuse and said I do not qualify.They refused, they kept me online for hours almost every day claiming they are following the airlines policies on cancellations and refunds and in order to make an involuntary request(reservation refund request to both airlines) on their website, they use a computer based their own refund and cancellation fees to say that you do not qualify for it.
After the 24 hour period I then decided to reason with them telling them why I booked these tickets in the first place. They ignored every solution I tried to offer and constantly misrepresented or deliberately giving feedback that made little sense to what I was requesting. Especially regarding the prioity check-in option I bought that thought would have allowed me to transit in Ho Chi Min without a visa. To this day they are still refusing to grant a refund for these tickets and want me to accept 15% of cost these tickets as compensation. There are still 17 days left before these flights even depart. Both flights depart on January 30th. I need help.

Oplichters!

Geboekt voor 2 volwassenen en 1 kind,
Wanneer ik de boeking maak staat nergens vermeld "gratis verblijf voor kinderen van 12 die gebruik maken van de aanwezige bedden", dit staat pas achteraf in de mail die ik veel later ontvang.
Deze formule heb ik ook nog nooit tegengekomen, want volgens het hotel mag dit ook helemaal niet.
In het hotel aangekomen blijkt dat er slechts voor 2 personen geboekt is. De kamer die geboekt werd is zelfs te klein om een derde bed bij te zetten, ook al betalen we bij, het mag niet,
Kamers voor 3 personen zijn niet beschikbaar. We hebben dan een extra kamer moeten nemen. De aanbieding bleek uiteindelijk een hele dure aanbieding.
Wij voelen ons bedrogen. Deze aanbieding was een leugen van het begin tot het einde.
Oh ja, Trip.com niet telefonisch bereikbaar wegens overbelast. Bovendien kan dit enkel in het Frans en Engels, niet in het Nederlands,
Dit was de eerste keer dat we een boeking maakte via Trip.com. Je kan begrijpen dat dit meteen de laatste keer was.
Het antwoord op mijn klacht komt er op neer dat ik op de website van het hotel had moeten kijken, Ik moet dus nakijken op de website van het hotel of trip.com me de juiste kamer verkoopt. Ze hebben gewoon een 2 persoons kamer verkocht als 3 persoons kamer. Op deze manier is het makkelijk om de goedkoopste te zijn. Voor het geld dat ik uiteindelijk betaald heb, had ik een heel ander verblijf kunnen hebben. Het is puur bedrog.

Trip.com NO WORTHY

I booked a one way flight to Penang. During the booking and in the info of the flight on the app afterwards, there was no warning of the airline 48hs mo change policy. I even bought an add-on to have flexible dates change. 72hs before the flight I started the process for the change: the website would keep me waiting after clicking for the change option and the screen never appeared. On the app, it was denying any date I was selecting. I thought it was a system problem so I decided to wait a little bit. I called through internet call and they replied and kept in silence. I send an email...they replied far later. I finally could talk to someone through the website chat. After 1 hour (in which I HAD TO SEND HER A SCREENSHOT OF THE FLIGHTS I WAS SEEING IN THE AIRLINE WEBSITE WHILE SHE WAS TRYING TO OFFER ME A 9 HOURS FLIGHT FOR A 1.50HS TRIP) the agent told me my request for change was sent. After a few hours, I receive the news about the 48 hours previous policy and a cancellation of the request.
That policy should be EXPLICIT in the website and the agent never checked it before making me lose more time. I've read that this is a common strategy they use to scam people. They deliberately lead you to confussion so you then can not make the changes and keep your money.
PLEASE, DON'T USE TRIP.COM is not worthy.

You're unable to change details like the name of passengers once you purchase tickets so they want you to buy new tickets for issues like passenger details. Staff keep on sending emails of their own text through without real evidence of policies required for their information giving by law and within our statutory rights as customers. Unless I want a headache I would not buy from trip.com again.

No promised refund
January 11, 2023

I was due to fly back to NZ from London 13/10/22 I suffered a fall & severe brain trauma so called to cancel & was promised a refund spent the past 2 1/2 months being told they were waiting for the airline then they wanted proof which I sent but they replied no refund, from an email you can't reply to.
Absolutely disgusting I think if they promise a refund they should honour it.

Not able to collect checked in baggage in Paris

I have booked air ticket thru trip.com, ticket was from MAA (chennai) to EDI (Edinburgh).
In Paris (CDG) I was not able to collect my checkedin baggage as it has required to valid france VISA.
But I was able to proceed my travel to Edinburgh(by AirFrance) as it was within same Terminal.

I kindly request you to send bagage to Edinburgh(airport) or my Edinburgh home (95,Parkhead Avenue,Edinburgh, EH11 4SD, UK)
I can also come and collect my baggage if it is anywhere in Edinburgh.

The worst experience I ever had with a travel agent.

I booked flights in June 2022 to travel in December 2022. After several attempts to make a booking and trip.com kept declining the payment, they also kept changing prices for every new flight search. I finally managed to secure and pay for a booking.

I made the booking in June, then received a call 4 months later in the middle of the night asking me to cancel my booking because there were missing segments of my flight. After investigating further, it turned out that Trip.com failed to notify the airline of my acceptance to flight changes even though I confirmed my acceptance of the changes. This resulted in the airline cancelling some of my flight segments. I spent several weeks and many hours on the phone and on email with no results whatsoever. I had to escalate the matter to management who after many calls and a lot of wasted time back and forth said the airline was willing to fix the booking. I then waited and waited for the booking to be fixed but still no news, I had to call the airline and tried to sort it out myself. On the day of departure, I went to the airport only to find out that my booking was still broken and that Trip.com failed to pay my first segment of the flight which resulted in the airline declining my check in and I missed the flight. I had to make an entire new booking with an entirely different airline which cost me an additional $15K for my and my family to get to my destination for the family get together. It was an absolutely horrible experience, it was such a nightmare to deal with Trip.com and their broken customer service model.

After I could not catch my flight due to the mistakes made by Trip.com I requested a refund of the money I paid for this booking $8K and they came back to say the airline declined to issue a refund.

After leaving a negative review on Sitejabber and Trustpilot, I managed to get Trip.com to re-consider my case and they did further investigations and negotiations with the airline and they managed to successfully process a refund and I received a full refund.

I would like to thank Kenzie, the customer success manager for sorting out the refund in a timely manner.

Worst travel experience of my life
January 6, 2023

The worst travel experience of my life. I booked a flight with Trip.com that had to connecting flights. Three days before my planned flight I was contacted by the agency and they told me that the second flight was sceduled 11 hours before the previous flight time. All alternatives they provided would have meant me spending a night at the airport and me arriving a day later than planned. I requested compensation for both flights, but they only compensated one of the two connecting flights. They did not help me to find a good alternative. I had to find another flight on such very short notice which ended up costing me a lot of money.

Paypal did not work twice which sometimes happens so I entered valid credit card info. Site seemed to accept it, then immediately canceled. No phone help available. Site chat is fake. There is no chat. I spits written statements for you to accept that may have nothing to do with issue. Then it just told me that I had a problem with my bank. Immediately called CC company to make sure no charge actually went through but I gave them all the valid information needed to use the card. Now I wonder if card is compromised.

This company specializes in giving you the run around.
I've been owed a refund for flights and baggage which were cancelled over a year ago.

I've sent endless email and made several calls, and you always get the same response. "We're looking into it and will get back to you."

So not only do they steal your money they also steal your time.
I'm like a dog with a bone about stuff like this, so will NOT just disappear like the hope you will.
At this point I'm taking my complaint to the CAA, and I advise everyone else to take this above Trip.com because if you dont they will not pay what they owe. I will also be posting reviews and writing heavily SEOd content to make sure other people don't fall victim to this bunch of scammers.

This company is unethical and dishonest, do not recommend at all.

To Trip.com: I also don't need any BS empty fake apology to show up under this honest review, because we both no it won't actually change anything or make my money turn up in my account.

So don't insult my intelligence further. Thank you!

Update: After over a year of emailing and calling with no help whatsoever, within 72hrs of leaving this review and others, I magically had a refund appear in my account. Wild. Don't suffer in silence guys, that's how steal your time and money, complain loudly and publicly.

Unhelpful and a ripoff

I reserved a flight with trip.com with a deposit of part payment, although they sent a confirmation email to say the flight was reserved they did not send a reminder email to let me know that this trip needed to be paid in full and I missed the cut of date. When I messaged them to see if they would still honour my booking they just declined and said it was policy. They were totally unhelpful and unwilling to give me any leeway. Be aware when booking with this company.

I give them one start because I cannot give less. We had a flight originally from Spain to Sri Lanka. 1 month before the flight, they tell us that our flight back has been changed from the original date (4th of February) to the 7th of February. 3 days later with landing 4 days later!. In the email, they said to contact them to either request another flight, or to accept the change. We contacted them to change the flight, and they rejected the request. This happened 14 times. 14 times we requested a different flight of return because we cannot go back to Spain 4 days later. Lastly, we escalated the case. Their answer" 3. If you decide to cancel the whole booking, the full refund request must be completed before 13Jan2023. After the deadline, the full refund will be no longer available.

Also, if you want to take the alternative flights the airline provided, leaving on 23Jan and returning on 07Feb, please also let us know as soon as possible in case seats are sold out. Because we can't occupy seats without your final confirmation. Also it need to be completed before 13Jan2023. ". So basically, with 3 weeks left for our trip, we need to request a refund and pay a new flight after the flights increased the price by 30%. DO YOURSELVES A Favor, AVOID TRIP.COM. IT IS NOT WORTH YOUR 30 EUROS LESS.

Terrible company

We booked flights to Dubai via Bucharest with trip.com. Ryanair changed our flight time from London to Bucharest so we would have missed our connecting flight. We were unable to change our flights with Ryan air due to trip.com giving them the wrong details. We then paid (out of our own pocket) for new flights to Bucharest. Once at Bucharest waiting to get onto our connecting flight we found out trip.com cancelled this. 11 hours later we were still stuck in Bucharest airport waiting for a new flight (which we had to pay again). We are £500 out of pocket and trip.com do not care. We have spent around 8 hours of our time on the phone to trip.com and emails trying to get refunded. This company should be avoided at all costs.

Cancelled hotel reservation
December 31, 2022

I booked the hotel with Trip.com. In less than an hour, I received a call from them that they canceled my reservation. They promised to return the money with compensation. Never got the compensation but just an email that it would take 10 days to process the refund. I called the hotel for which I made the reservation and Iwas told that they do have rooms available for the dates of cancellation. So, the company just used my money for 10 days while I was supposed to figure out how to pay for another reservation.

Awful customer service

It was impossible to change my flight via Trip.com. I spoke with Virgin who said it was possible and free of charge. I spoke with Trip.com who said it was impossible. I then called Virgin who were very helpful and called Trip.com themselves, and patched me in the call. Mahmoud from Trip.com assured the Virgin rep and myself that he would change the flight. He proceeded to then do nothing and finally they sent me a garbled email 4 hours before the original flight saying that Virgin said the change was impossible! I then drove to LAX where the Virgin ticket desk did the flight change straight away. They could t understand why Trip.com didn't do it. There must be some kind of scam where Trip.com don't want to change flights. Or they are useless. Or both.

A Scam company. Always book direct with airline.

Simply do not use. They do not stick to the terms they state when you buy, will not allow changes or cancellations per the airlines policies, instead they will charge you almost as much as your original flight - just less intact to tempt you to change with them and not buy another ticket through the airline. Then when you complain, they will string you along wasting your time pretending to care, when infact it seems their policy is to send you around in circles until you give up. Just avoid. Company has no reason to exist other than to defraud you from my experience at least.

This my email i wrote when i someone responded to my review; nothing yet!?

Dear Hao,

After multiple chats and phone calls...always after being on hold for hours, I have lost all trust with Trip.com Sincerely hope that you are not giving lip service to appease the review left at site jabber and those reading it.

I have given my booking information multiple times to the chat agents i communicated with and yet here u are asking for it one more time. Let me oblige, again.

My booking details:

My return leg was inconveniently not issued but Trip.com conveniently took my money in full!

Ulaabaatar - bangkok not issued!

When can I get my money back?
When can I be compensated for the pain and suffering I had to endure?
I had to travel separately from my wife and daughter
I had to pay for another flight out of my own cash as Trip.com could not even fulfill the alternative they suggested
I incurred more cost arranging transfers in bangkok from airport to hotel...the list goes on.

When will I be refunded? It has been more than a week?!

I know that trip.com is a china based company and have a registered office in singapore...which is not fucntioning!

I am a very simple person but i will work with govt agencies in Singapore, Thailand and the region to market the fact how Rubbish trip.com is and how I was scammed.

Please revert to me soonest and give me my refund + compensation. You can contact me to discuss.
