Travelocity's reputation is predominantly marred by negative customer experiences, particularly concerning their customer service and refund policies. Many customers express frustration over poor communication, lack of support, and difficulties in obtaining refunds for canceled bookings. Complaints often highlight unexpected fees, miscommunication regarding rental agreements, and unfulfilled service promises. While a few reviews mention competitive pricing, the overwhelming sentiment suggests that the potential savings are overshadowed by the company's perceived dishonesty and inadequate service. Overall, customers advise caution when considering Travelocity for travel arrangements, emphasizing a lack of trust in the company's practices.

For an upcoming trip, I booked my flight through Travcelocity. Within 48 hours, my plans changed and i needed to reschedule for 1 week later. The fair was $244 + fees. The change fee was $240. Essentially, i lost the full ticket amount.
1) This is an outrageous penalty, the same as the ticket amount for a one week date change.
2) If I had booked through the airline, any change fee would likely have been small, or waived.
3) Travelocity did not notify me of the magnitude of this penalty during the booking process.
4) Travelocity's customer service blamed everything on the airline.
5) Travelocity's customer service stalled, told me a supervisor wasn't available, told me a supervisor would call me back which never happened.
My advice, don't use Travelocity
Worst travel booking experience I've ever had! The first leg of the outgoing flight I had booked was all of a sudden missing from my itinerary without me being provided any notice; it was only when I called about a schedule change that I realized it. Then they tell me my flight's been cancelled, no reason as to why, and tell me I have to call back the next day to talk to the airline! Call back the next day, and after almost an hour on the phone, the airline finally sorted it out for me. And when I tell Travelocity I'm unhappy with the service I've received, they say it's not their problem and they won't do anything about it! Sorry excuse for customer service!
I call this site the Travel Bundle Package Site! Prices may vary from day to day on any travel site... therefore it's good to check prices from day to day for bargains. When I'm planning a trip where I need fights, hotel and a car, that where I go. You can get a very good bundle price for the three that would amaze you. I've done a long weekend (4 days) trip to Maryland, got a round trip ticket, stayed at the Courtyard Marriott and had a car for less than $450. What do anyone has to lose?
They have some good deals but their customer support ain't that great. I've occasionally had problems with my hotel reservations and I don't think they've even once solved anything! They keep saying how "If something isn't right on your trip and you inform us immediately, we'll work with our partners to make it right, right away." So not true.
They also don't often publish my hotel reviews if they're negative! So please don't trust their hotel reviews, they don't publish all the bad ones.
Horrible. Booked a flight. Us air cancelled flight. Sat on phone for three hours. Never came back on phone to change flight.
This site never ceases to amaze me with how overpriced they are compared to others. It's crazy!
HORRIBLE Website... They sneak in hidden cancellation fees and their coupons aren't explained clearly until the process goes through... Then when you try to talk to a customer service reps, they don't exist and only hotel.com customer reps are available as they outsource to them... GO TO SOME WHERE ELSE! Very Shesty. This company was never told honesty is the best policy.
Just tried to book a hotel for my anniversary and got lied to. After I was given the total price, I realized that it was a bit cheaper on another website and told customer service about it. He told me that they match prices and wanted to know which website. I gave him the name and after several minutes on the phone he could not find it. So i typed it and found the website again, he then said that he can't match it, so I told him to cancel my reservation, he just transfered me around till the other person just hang up on me. Called back and just had my reservation cancel, hope i get my refund in full as they promised. STAY AWAY.
Don't book here! They are a 3rd party that make commission by booking your hotel at www.hotels.com and charge you a seperate charge of $39.95. If you call their toll free number it is for hotels.com. They are not a good company to book your hotel with! Don't use their website! If you book go to hotels.com or other known website. They don't have any kind of customer services available for you. And if you decide to cancel your reservation you will still be charge for their service fee because it is nonrefundable. But, no where on their website indicate that except it stated that there was a $39.95 charge that apply seperately from your total for the reservation! Don't book with this website! SCAM!
If you want to have a vacation package these guys are probably the best. If you want to book individually and have a "custom" vacation trip then you should take more time and visit individual websites and companies to find the right options. There is really nothing wrong with travelocity, just there could be more flexibility. That being said, I am sure they are just adapting themselves to the market. Because they are a big player they seem to have deals with major airlines and hotel chains which means I actually found cheaper prices there sometimes than on their own websites. I had to use the customer service once and they were friendly, and real Americans. I have had nightmare experiences with foreign call centers but these people were real pros. Recommended for casual travelers.
I will never order tickets through them again. When I called them about getting scammed into Savingsace the guy tried to tell me the 19.95 was a insurance charge!
Travelocity says click here to get $20 back on your booking. I asked him if he knew about Passport to Fun or SAvingsace and he said yes. I am writing to the Attorney
General in my state.
I booked a flight with them, but then something came up so i wanted to change the flight dates and of course there were fees for that, then i asked if i could cancel the flight since there were no cancelation fees, but of course there was a loophole, no cancelation fee but no money back, so you get a credit, and you can't use your credit without a fee. Oh and also you have to try different ways of contacting them, over the phone is by far the most frustrating, the phone number they have for this always disconected me after going through the automated question and answer, so i would have to say that i didnt know my trip ID in order to get to a customer service rep, ugh.
I was trying to book a flight/hotel for Valentine's day weekend and when it was time for me to check out it was telling me that the hotel was sold out so i tried it again with a different hotel and it told me that the hotel was sold out again. I went to check my checking account and they had charged me twice for something that was sold out. Now i'm left with no flight/no hotel/no money and no honey :( WTF! Thanks traveloFUCity.COM for messing up my Valentine's. Now i have to call my bank, i will get my money back but they ruined the whole Valentine's Day weekend.
This company you refernce (hotelhotline.com) (through their parent travelnow.com links all of their customer service and bookings through hotels.com (who do have excellent service) and charges you a hidden 7.95 per night for a hotel reservation. Middle man scam. Go direct to hotels.com or orbitx or a reputable company.
ANYWHERE BUT HERE! - On December 13,2008 I booked a room at the Belnord Hotel in Manhattan's Upper East Side through HotelsCheap.com. When I arrived at the hotel, therewas NO reservation nor was there any record available, to the front desk, through any of the reservation services. Now, this would not be so terrible, except for one thing, the reason I had to go to NY on this sorrowful occassion. My granddaughter, 4 months old, had just passed away, the day before and there I was, in NYC from Palm Beach, with my wife and mother, for a horrendous reason, in the hotel lobby, STUCK! Well I brought my laptop, looked up Hotelscheap.com and called their 800 # to find that "their" 800 # was Hotels.com, a reputable company, through whom I immediately "booked" and it showed up instantly at the "desk". Now, of course, our reservations for 3 days was completely PREPAID and I had only a link (their 800 # went to voicemail)HotelHotline.com for ANY customer service. I had to call my credit card company and have the charge reversed (yes, they, Hotel Hotline.com, put the charge through instantly). NOW, here it is 3 1/2 weeks later and I finally just got an e-mail acknowledgement from Hotel Hotline.com that "they" have reversed the charge. I recommend that NEITHER of these companies ever be patronized.
Using points to purchase tickets - This site is great for booking tickets once you learn the GAME. They do NOT have all flights available and this is frustrating if you are trying to book a ticket using TRAVELOCITY MASTERCARD points. These points are earned by using the travelocity mastercard which has the BEST values around.
The problem is a big one though: the travelocity website will frequently not allow you to select the proper amount of points for a purchase and OVERCHARGES you if you are not aware of what the real point values are. I have spent hours and hours on the phone and there appears to be NO ONE who can fix this problem or who cares about it. They have acknowledged that there is a website issue but done nothing about it. BE CAREFUL.
When you email their customer service department, they have no CLUE what to do except refer you to multiple phone number that are also clueless.
There are other issues with the profiles stored in the traveler main profile. You are asked to put in lots of preference information. This is a great idea and its purpose is so that the info POPS into your reservation automatically... so that you don't have to keep looking up frequent flyer numbers, etc. The problem is that it doesn't pop into the reservation. Travelocity knows this is a website problem too... and have done NOTHING about it.
Answer: They tell you that you can use the credit within 12 months. When you try to book the flight, there is no way to apply the credit yourself, so you have to speak with a rep to do it. They place you on hold for hours! When you finally do speak with someone who can help you, you are told there is a re-booking fee added to be able to use the credit, making it cost more than if you just purchase a new ticket without adding the "credit"! Bottom line is that they say there is no penalty and that you get the credit, but you do not. They are liars and unethical, at best.
Answer: Bridgett, It is simply because this company has terrible, and I mean TERRIBLE customer service! It seems like the people who gave positive reviews have not had to make any changes in their arrangements--if they needed to change something, I believe their experience would have been negative. Who wants to do business with a company that is only a fair weather friend? Not me! This was by far the WORST experience I have had in dealing with a company. I will never use them again and I tell everyone I can to avoid them.
Answer: I don't know that. All I know is that I will not use them ever. They basically let me go after I had payed for the tickets. They are not an honest company. Good luck I hope you find your answers.
Answer: I totally disagree, you will never understand if you don't like to understand. If you try tonipen your ears and listen carefully without so much objections in mind, i bet you will understand. If you are a frequent flyer, you will know that these travel agencies has no control of the policies of the tickets, as they are implemented by airlines. And when you book a trip online, either from travel agencies or airlines websites, you will be informed of the policies. I bet you know how to read and understands simple english word, like non refundable right?
