Travelocity Reviews Summary

Travelocity's reputation is predominantly marred by negative customer experiences, particularly concerning their customer service and refund policies. Many customers express frustration over poor communication, lack of support, and difficulties in obtaining refunds for canceled bookings. Complaints often highlight unexpected fees, miscommunication regarding rental agreements, and unfulfilled service promises. While a few reviews mention competitive pricing, the overwhelming sentiment suggests that the potential savings are overshadowed by the company's perceived dishonesty and inadequate service. Overall, customers advise caution when considering Travelocity for travel arrangements, emphasizing a lack of trust in the company's practices.

We needed to cancel a hotel reservation and postpone a trip due to a death in the family. I offered to send the obituary link. No one cared. We've used Travelocity previously, with success. I will not use them again.

We booked with travelocity earlier this year and had to unfortunately cancel our reservatiom due to an unforeseen health circumstance in the family. At the time of cancellation we were issued credit to reuse within 12 months of booking date. When we finally decided to use the credit we were mishandled and given the runaround on the phone multiple times and for hours at a time. After we finally got through to a supervisor and attempted to rebook he basically said that we can only use the credit towards one flight, forfeit about 1/2 of our credit for that flight, he was unable to help us upgrade seats or accompdate our loss in any way and he still wanted us to pay $300 penalty out of pocket. He tried to blame the airline for this and when we called the airline they told us that it was travelocity that was imposing these restrictions on the credit. When i requested to speak to his supervisor he placed me on hold for over an hour and finally hung up on me. Worst experience ever! I will never use this booking service again and will make sure i post my experience on every travelocity review site i can including facebook tweeter and instagram and tell all my connections about these corrupt practices. I will also report travelocity to the BBB. Good luck doing this to others Travelocity!

There are quite a lot of bad reviews but I used the service few times without any problems. Can recommend it but I use other websites like this as well. Can't say it's the best one but surely not the worst

I tried to book a hotel but there was an error with using paypal. Travelocity said my hotel was not booked and if I wanted the deal, book again. They would refund the original charge within 5 business days. So I checked out again. Next day I noticed there was two charges!

Travelocity would not refund my money. I will never use Travelocity again. I am also put off by Paypal siding with them. If they claim that there was an issue, don't believe them.

Oh and the hotel told me that Travelocity canceled the hotel room and they were refunded because it was over 48 hours beforehand. So they got my money without a 2nd hotel room.

When things go wrong
September 4, 2015

I have been loyal to Travelocity/Expedia for 15 years and did tons of bookings with them. There were times hotels or vacations were good or bad... etc. Travelocity made it easy to book places and until recently I did not have any specific problems with my bookings which I thought could and should have been resolved by Travelocity. Several weeks ago, I booked a hotel by mistake and it turned out to be non-refundable booking. So far so good, it was my bad and as soon as I realized I called travelocity within seconds to see if anything could be done about it. They had to reach the hotel to see, but the problem got worse right at that point. Noone, including travelocity could reach the hotel, because it did not exist. As I read the reviews and sent a friend to check it out, I was 100% sure that there was no hotel at the provided address, just a rundown building that looked nothing like the ad. Travelocity informed me that it was their policy to contact the hotel to issue a refund. Finally, I was able to contact the so called hotel myself and they texted me another location to go to. It turned out to be an extremely unsafe location, a rundown building, (would not even feel safe to park my car there during daytime). I rang the bell and noone answered the door, I tried reaching the so called hotel and no answer again... etc... you get the picture... I finally called travelocity for the forth time, and this time to cancel it. I re-explained all the situation many times. Although, I have foreseen this and forewarned them, I still was not offered a refund and unlike the ads aired, they did not try to make things right. I was more disappointed in travelocity than this so called hotel, because they should have understood my situation and instead of having me tell this story over and over to multiple supervisor, losing many hours on the phone, they could/should have immediately offered me a refund and even arranged a hotel nearby to compensate for my situation (this costs nothing for such a large company and I am sure they could have enforced it on this scammer hotel). This was the first time I faced a problem with a merchant "falsely advertising" at Travelocity website and abusing my trust for the company in between. This is just like how you find out if an insurance company is actually good - when you really need them, when you have an accident. I am still struggling to get my money back and I have only been offered to coupon (half the price of the hotel) to use in a "future booking". So far I have been very disappointed in how travelocity handled the situation and how they made it easier for people to be fooled by their merchants. I was offered nothing that was promised in their ads: We will make things right!, NO you did not. You easily, very easily could have made things right. You could have even avoided this whole thing as soon as you found out that the hotel was unreachable even before I went there.

Not the best deal!
August 19, 2015

Travelocity claimed to display all of the hotels in the area but in reality only displayed the ones they apparently have contracts with. I booked the recommended one then discovered later that a good hotel only minutes away was $50 less. The I one booked imposed a $50 cancellation fee. (what's with that?) Then they added a $20 "resort fee" at check in. I wish the "hotel helper" sites would just go away.

Beware... if you use Travelocity and there is a problem with your reservation, you can plan to spend hours and days on the phone trying to speak to someone but they will continue to pass you on to the next supervisor. I've talked with 6 supervisors and about 8 hours on the phone over 4 day period so far... and still waiting for another supervisor to call me back. Worst service ever! Just don't use them! I never will again that's for sure!

I booked a room through Travelocity. When we arrived, I was told the room I booked (2 double beds, at a higher rate than 1 bed) was overbooked and we were given a room with 1 bed. I asked the hotel for a price adjustment based on the rates I was quoted online when making this reservation, to which I was told I would need to call Travelocity. I called, told a woman my problem, who unknowing to me, transferred me to some man who did not identify himself with a company when he answered. I told him the problem and that I requested a price adjustment, he had an attitude with me the entire time, even though I was calm and telling him how much of an inconvenience it was to my family as we needed 2 beds. He cut me off, told me he was going to get someone who could help me with this and put me on hold. I was on hold for over 20 minutes until I disconnected. I didn't want to waste anymore time on hold when I figured no one was going to help me there. Worst customer service I've ever encountered. Will never do business with Travelocity again.

Not Good.
July 18, 2015

I would encourage everyone not to ever booked with Travelocity. I booked with them in January 2015 for July 28,15. Now two weeks before my trip, they send me an email to contact them, I contacted them only to find out that they couldn't find me a return flight from London on the 8/11/15. I was on the phone for useless hours and only to hear sorry we had to cancelled your flight. Not only that I would be refunded in 6-8 weeks. I told them, they need to refund my money by Monday to booked with another airline or I am going to call help Me HOWARD. I am serious. Can you imagine?

East Coast vacation
July 18, 2015

Did 4 cities in 9 days. Made flight and hotel reservations with Travelocity. Great customer service dept. Arraignments for trip took a couple of months to put together. One night in haste to make hotel reservations in NYC, locked in reservation for up coming weekend thinking it was trip which was still 2 months away. Travelocity cancelled reservation with no penalty.
