TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE
August 3, 2021

I was apart of the fiasco that took place on August 1,2021-August 2,2021. Never told why our flight was delayed. Continued to push it back until almost 1 in the morning when the flight was supposed to be at 4 p.m. Many people left stranded at the airport with no answers. Many people forced to sleep in the airport after being there the entire day. Customer Service desk not willing to help. Almost a 3 hour wait to reschedule. Ended up booking with another airline. DO NOT BOOK SPIRIT.

Unprofessional staff
August 2, 2021

Out of BWI and FLL I experience long lines, Spirit staff screaming at customer and the staff was just walking back and forth behind the counter not attending the passages. This is a horrible airline. Cheap price cheap service.

Left stranded and unsafe COVID flight conditions
January 12, 2021

Spirit Airlines IS NOT practicing COVID safe distancing by passenger spacing between Window and Aisle seats. I just flew 5 legs with Spirit and every flight the middle seats were filled, and not with people from the same party. I felt so vulnerable to COVID in their planes. Two flights announced completely filled flights. Plus one of my flights was cancelled and I was put on a flight 36 hours later. My connecting flight in LAS scheduled for Monday 10:20pm was cancelled and replaced by a flight Wednesday 11:00am. Spirit would not provide a Hotel or Taxi even when they failed to have an aircraft for my flight. This is the first time I was stranded overnight and the responsible airline would not provide any compensation, hotel or taxi. My replacement flight was scheduled to arrive in BWI at 11:00pm Wednesday, when my return flight was scheduled for 7:00am Thursday, eight hours later. Not even enough time for me to leave the airport. I had over $500 additional out of pocket costs because of Spirit's issue. I had to pay 2 nights stay at a Las Vegas hotel because my connecting flight was cancelled and my layover now became 36 hours. Because I did not arrive into BWI at my scheduled time and date, I incurred a rental car and hotel penalty for a No Show. Spirit declined to help with any of my incurred costs. My trip cost was more than double as a result of Spirit cancelling my connecting flight. I also had to rebook Last-Minute hotel and rental car reservations at peak prices when I finally arrived at my final destination. NEVER FLY SPIRIT.

This is the worst airline
November 28, 2019

This airline is the most expensive we have used. Don't let them fool you with the low fare ads. Not the airline to use for a family. They want you to purchase your seats to sit together.
That is why kids seem unsupervised on the plane. They scatter children throughout the plane. Away from the parents. I know because I just called about our seats which are scattered through the plane. They would not even switch my children's seats so they could sit together. Wait til something happens to a child on this airline. Then somwthing might be done about it.

Flying Spirit is a necessary evil for someone who flies often however sometimes it's just not worth it. The Customer Service Line always has a long waiting time. If you have a handicap, you need to call for your seat assignment and you're always transferred several times before you get anyone who can take care of you. They put zero effort into making things right. On a past flight, I was sitting in the back of the plane because the seat assignment was NOT done correctly. I was then tortured by the unaccompanied minors sitting behind me. This airlines charges extra funds for unaccompanied minors and then doesn't supervise them. When I called to complain they offered no support.

Lucky there is no - stars so i have to give them 1 Star. I made the biggest mistake in my life flying with Spirit from LAX to Detroit round trip. Due to a delay at my car rental i did not get to the check in 60 min prior to takeoff but 45 min. When i came down to check in my bags for which i paid $$$ i was told its 45 min prior and they wont accept my bags even so they guy in front of me was good. First off if its cut off time maybe you want to have more then 1 counter open. When i asked for her supervisor she tells me she is it. Which would be hard to belive but based how this airline operates would surprise me. Give then 12.50 an hr and a Title to make them feel good and screw your customers. All that said, i asked what i can do. I was told nothing, and that there is only one flight per day to LAX. So i asked if i could check in my bags now and get without them on plan and have them take tomorrows flight. You can guess the answer. At the and i had 3 others in my party take the flight without bags and i checked into the Hyatt at the international terminal for a day so i could check the bag's in person. Took me another 2 hrs on phone to explain that i will not pay for bags again as i already did. Over all this direct flight was a flight from hell and one really needs high spirits to fly with that crappy outfit. Do your self a favor and shop around for alternatives, because the few $$ you save or the time you think you save will be lost at the end

Took a flight to Vegas this past weekend, where the flight was booked as part of a package through Vegas.com that included hotel. Price seemed pretty good until we got to the airport and it cost us an extra $55 per carry-on bag each way. Just lucky we didn't have to check them at the gate - the price goes up to $65 each bag there.
Ultimately we ended up paying the equivalent cost of 2 extra tickets to bring our carry-on luggage with us. Bear in mind, there are no perks to flying Spirit either - there are no complimentary snacks or drinks.

The fold-out trays on the flight into Vegas were micro-trays, about 1/2 the size of a standard one. The pockets on the back of the seats were a single bungee cord. The flight back was a slightly better plane, as there were full sized trays and real pockets that time around.

TLDR: Large hidden fees and a major lack of value. Doubtful we'll ever fly this airline again.

I do believe all of the negative reviews about customer service and flight delays. The website is super kloogy, really bulky to use but designed so they can nickel and dime you at every possible turn. I only use them if the fare is so incredibly cheap that I can't turn it down, and if it isn't a long flight, so there isn't as much time to have a negative experience. I usually try to go to sleep before takeoff and stay that way til we land. I always travel with them with no expectations whatsoever, and so I'm never disappointed.

Agents need educating
October 23, 2017

Second time I was stopped in line at Spirit when the agent who was working did not know the ada laws about service animal and ESA animals
I was also accused of making up my dr noteon my computer bysaid agent
I understand all the laws and follow them to the letter
These agents need an education in the ADA laws and exactly what is an acceptable note

3 cancellations in less than 12 hrs. Horrible customer service. Charged an extra $290 for rescheduling a cancelled flight. The mo ey was to be refunded was never recieved, and we were told once their system said processed they were no longer responsible. Not to mention the 250 paid for baggage we couldnt be refunded for the flight we never took. Would never recommend this airline

Flight reservations
January 17, 2017

I called Spirit Airlines after getting interrupted booking online. Sasha the airline rep helped me get my booking done. She was very pleasant and accommodating that she made my life easier. She helped me get the booking done in no time. I wish all airline reps are like her so customers will always be satisfied with the help they get.

My 16 yr old daughters flight number 863 was cancelled 1/7/17 from Latrobe, PA to Orlando, FL due to the shooting in Ft Lauderdale, FL. Spirit said they could not get her another flight until 1/11/17. I never received any type of email, phone call or text from Spirit about the flight change. The day before her flight I was unable to CHECK IN online. Nothing on the website telling my why I can't check in or what was going at all. When my daughter gets to the airport for her flight, they tell her it was cancelled because she didn't show up 2 hours prior to check in. EVEN THOUGH I never got an email saying she needed to do this. They left a 16 yr old stranded in the airport with no money and no flight. When I call to rescedule, SPIRIT rep Jerald would not work with me in any way at all and required me to purchase a new flight at full cost. Spirit was negligent in handled the rescheduled flight and informing me of what need to be done. They made a verbal change with a minor instead of confirming things with her legal guardian. Spirit could have at least agreed to split the cost of the new flight, however they refused. The new flight was $224 for one way, however my original round trip ticket was only $126.
Spirit needs to admit fault here and reimburse me at least partially for the second flight I had to purchase.

I made reservations with a travel agency and pay for seats because Spirit Airlines charges you to pay for your seats and when I get to the airport I had to pay an additional fee that I already had paid and now the back-and-forth begins because they're not willing to refund me my money but it is almost impossible to speak to a human being. I will never fly through Spirit Airlines again.
