"This site is scamming artists by charging $1 to be a verified seller, then locking them out of their accounts if they complain about protecting the art uploaded on their site or decide to remove art pieces. I believe they are every shade of shady..."
Update 3/20/15 I recently spotted a dazzling sequined case that happened to be on the Society6 site. After looking at the item, and browsing a few similar, I left the site. Other sites I went to were then constantly smeared with thumbnails from Society6. Wouldn't be so bad if it were just the items I had viewed on their site. The problem was an image I felt was pornographic kept popping up next to the sequined case. I started to get angry at seeing this image several times in thumbnails. They had no idea of my age and I felt the image was totally inappropriate to display without my consent. I had viewed no pornographic images on their site, until I finally clicked it in order to complain. Perhaps this irresponsible and negligent company should use a little common courtesy and filter adult images to ensure they aren't splashed all over an innocent bystander's internet without their consent.
I ordered a tote bag during the free international shipping period. There is no tracking service for international shipping, so I was worried, but at the end it took around 3 weeks to ship to Croatia which was faster than I expected. I am satisfied with quality of the tote bag. The print is beautiful and the material is great for everyday use. I will shop again there!
3 weeks after ordering a mug (on their special sale day that included free shipping and $5 off) and my shipping order still said "pending". I checked in and found they had cancelled and "refunded" my order, though I never received any email/notification telling me such. Even after finding this out my shipping order still says pending. Very minimal customer service - and if this mug was offered anywhere else I would immediately go there.
I received my framed picture within one week of the placed order. It was boxed well and wrapped in bubble wrap. I was given notices of shipment and potential arrival date. The picture was hung withing an hour of receiving it. I was completely satisfied with the item and its shipment from the west coast to the east coast.
I saw all the bad reviews of the site after I already ordered so I was prepared for the worst. I ordered an art print, $5 off and free shipping coming to a total of $20. I received it in less than two weeks! I had it shipped to Canada so I also read about all the customs fees people were charged with. If your order is $20 or under, you will NOT be charged extra. All in all, a good quality art print worth the cheap price. :)
I ordered 6 canvas prints from Society 6. I saw the "Free Shipping on Worldwide Orders all weekend" and so I decided to make the purchase. Unfortunately, they don't tell you until check out that only t-shirts, skins and phone cases qualify. After I checked out, I looked around the website just to see if I missed anything about excluded items, but no, they just don't tell you until check out.
I ended up only receiving 5 of the 6 prints. I emailed them about the shortage on Monday and they responded almost immediately that they would send a replacement for the missing canvas. However, because they print to order, it would be up to 5 days before the item shipped. I received an email the next day apologizing that my order was not shipped correctly the first time. They informed me that they were refunding my money for the canvas AND shipping a replacement free of charge.
I understand they are a newer company. They seem to be growing fast and possibly experiencing growing pains. Mistakes will happen and yes, I had a couple of hiccups in my order. I was initially very concerned about the missing canvas and was relieved that they responded quickly and without issue or question. They ended up going above and beyond for me in the end. I am waiting on the last canvas to arrive, but I can say the 5 that I've already received were very well done.
I ordered an iPad mini case from society6. They emailed me saying that it was 1-3 days delivery, but since i'm from the Philippines, they said that it could last 1-5 weeks.
It was in my mailbox after 4 weeks. It was in good condition and i really liked the art work :)
I placed my order on the 25 of september 2013 for a Amy Hamilton printed pillowcase and payed over 20$ + shipping charges.
Upon receiving my order confirmation I quickly discovered that I had accidentally put an extra "0" into my house number. I contacted customer service right away to correct the mistake, but they told me my order was already shipped and proceeded to tell me that I would have to wait for the package to be returned to them. They would then send me an e-mail asking me for my correct address and reship the package. I trusted them to monitor my order and notify me when this worked out.
Yesterday, almost 6 months later (thinking that my money was gone forever) I FINALLY received the e-mail telling me my package had arrived and to contact customer service and provide them with my address. I happily did. A day later a got a reply saying costumer service cancelled my order because it was to old. (?!)
I immediately filed a complaint and told them to send me my item right away, as I still want this pillowcase to complete the style in my living room. They then told me to place a new order and told me that because of my long wait I would receive free shipping for my next order as a comfort.
The problem is:
1) paying for a pillowcase twice seems so unfair
2) not hearing from them in over 6 months does not tempt me to ever use their services again
3) I would still have to pay shipping taxes in my country (already having payed them once) so the shipping won't actually be free.
4) Proceeding to cancel my order and commanding me to order something new (because the order is to old) when having the exact pillowcase in their hands already made for me seems stinky. I do wonder if the order was ever made and shipped in the first place!?
(FYI: I live in a western country and have never previously had any problem with shipping from the US)
I would never recommend this company to anybody: horrible and difficult costumer service and after 6 months still no product. Stay away!
I see everyone, especially people who had shipping to Canada, hating on Society6. I too got caught by the free shipping offer, but upon closer examination, the shipping was indeed free. However when you order something from the USA, especially if it is above $20 in value, you are going to get dinged for HST. In that case your order goes through a customs broker, who in charges a $10 fee for collecting the HST for the government. It has nothing to do with Society6 and they can't control the way the Canadian government operates.
That being said, I ordered a tote bag and was very impressed with the quality. It was a great size and it was even lined, which I did not expect. The canvas was good quality and I am sure it is going to last many years.
So I see a lot of people s***ing on society6, and I wish it didn't have to be that way! Because the art is way cool. I ordered a phone case on Feb 2nd, and here it is waiting for me on Feb 8th. Now this being said, I live in the US. I got a lovely email saying it's been shipped and giving me the tracking number two days later, and had frequent updates when I checked it's status. So shipping was great despite the horror stories here. The case itself - is okay. I LOVE the art. Love it. But the case itself is a little tiny bit to big, so it jiggles a tiny tiny bit. I probably won't even notice it in a couple days. The case isn't the most protective in the world, but it does have a little lining on the inside. So overall the case is beautiful but probably not as practical as I would like.
I ordered a Tshirt. The order was to include "free Shipping" I was charged 15.00 for shipping. I did contact the company and waited quite awhile for a response. Finally they did refund the shipping charges.
I ordered an ipod touch case and 3 iphone cases for Christmas 2013. They were $34 each so I expected an amazing product. The package was damaged when I received it. I needed to return the touch case because it was the wrong size. I couldn't find a return policy and I have not been refunded my money. I have emailed them 3 times and never received a response. None of the iphone cases fit properly and they are all cracking. One of them completely broke yesterday. SO disappointed.
Great artwork here but the artists only get 10% on most products, though they can choose their profit margin on some items so its not all bad. T-shirt print quality is appalling to start with, then fades a lot after first wash, but the quality of the tees themselves are pretty good. Ordered an iPhone case to UK costing $31 and now being charged an additional $22 by a private UK company for VAT and customs entry fees. S6 do warn in the small print that such fees may apply, and to be fair they aren't profiting from this, its greedy private UK companies working for Customs who sting you on the delivery side. All in all its a nice looking site but I would not recommend buying from here.
A couple of years ago I ordered two medium t-shirts from Society 6. The sizes were much smaller than I was expecting. They fit perfectly now, after I have lost about 15 pounds and been down-graded to a size small. And the worst part is that the image quality of these shirts has faded despite the fact that I have only worn/washed these shirts about 5 times considering they did not fit when I originally got them.
Another problem is the alignment of the images. One of my shirts has a design so low that is looks ridiculous, and since it is a text image it is very difficult to read it! Both shirts came out much paler than I was expecting. I was really hoping for a bold design.
The package also took ages to arrive. I ordered them so that they would arrive way, way before Christmas, as my mother was paying for them as a gift. She wanted to wrap them and put them under the tree for me, but when she opened the shipping package (which had barely arrived before Christmas, cutting it quite close) she was so disappointed with the product that she decided to just hand them off to me that day and get me something else instead.
I know it has been years but I am now seeing all these negative reviews and I just wanted to contribute my bad experience and warn people from buying from this company. The artists who use this site are absolutely brilliant and I was very excited to be paying for their work, but I ended up getting ripped off and my mother lost money on a truly atrocious product.
TL: DR - If you are not VERY disappointed in this company you probably received some fluky good service, because I'm sure they are only absolute trash 90% of the time.
I had some doubts about ordering at Society6 after reviewing most comments here. I was especially concerned by custom taxes since I live in France. But as I couldn't find similar pillow covers anywhere else I decided to try it anyhow. My pillow cases were delivered ahead of time and because of the overall costs being quite minimal, I didn't have to pay any custom taxes.
Some countries have different regulations and I agree that it should be mentioned somewhere on the site, like it is on etsy. This said I'm very pleased by the quality of my pillow and I will most probably order from them again.
Ordered a few art prints, free international shipping was offered. Waited 6 weeks and after receiving nothing I filed a complaint. They offered to resend or refund. I choose a refund after reading the comments here. Shame they represent some really brilliant artist that I would have bought more if I had received my items.
Ordered 4 totebags for Xmas gifts. Cute designs & bags OK. One bag had spot on it that wasn't part of design. But label in each bag said "go to (this) website re "warnings, etc." No such website. I wrote email to Society 6 telling them about the spot, and also about what the Label said, which I was worried about.
Return email said 'we will send you a new bag' etc. PERIOD. No mention of my inquiry re the worrisome label.
I am returning all 4 bags.

Shipping is way too long I am now into my 4th week waiting...
Ordered once before this to England where I was charged expensive customs fees even after they advertised free shipping however have no complaints about the quality of the pictures ordered.
Customer service is the worst I have experienced (note: they do have a pro in that they reply very quickly) but they were unable give me any information other than shipping may take between 1-5 weeks: which is a crazy huge window... I used to work for an online retailer myself and when you ship through DHL (as they do) you are provided with a tracking number and an ETA none of which they will provide the customer... also no business should be working in a window of 5 weeks that is just ridiculous... after several emails pushing for more information (most of which I got the same template reply even after several emails they kept saying between 1-5 weeks as if it was the first time I contacted them) after pressing further they sent me the link to the DHL website... which I could not access as I am from another country and obviously I cannot access any information without knowing when it was shipped//tracking/where it was posted from/what service they used...
Wish I had never ordered from them
I ordered an art print from society6.com. When it arrived (with the wrong color frame), it was covered in greasy fingerprints on the frame and glass. Literally over a dozen smeared fingerprints, like the person who packed it was eating french fries while they worked. I'll be able to clean them off, but why should I have to?
In retrospect I am not too upset about the wrong color frame, even though I would have to pay return shipping to get the correct one, because reading other reviews I get the impression that the 'walnut' frame I originally wanted looks cheap and horrible, so maybe the plain black frame is a blessing in disguise.
All that said, I think the piece of art is beautiful, and it was relatively inexpensive since I managed to buy it during a $10-off sale. I still think I will avoid buying from society6.com again, I wish I could buy items directly from artist Terry Fan.
I got some tshirts from society6 in the beginning of December. I had problems with the items being sent on time, but after a couple of emails, the issues were solved promptly and the costumer service was extremely quickly to reply and help with my complains. After sending a question through their website, they would reply within 5 to 60 min, with concrete answers to my comments. Thank you very much! I'm definitely a happy costumer and will buy from you again. :)
Answer: The pricing on our site is listed USD. I hope this helps!
Answer: All of our products are produced on files supplied by independent artists. If the file is too small, it may look bad on orders. Please reach out to our customer service team and they can advise if it may be a production issue. https://society6.com/help/contact
Answer: Please reach out to our customer support team and they will be happy to assist you with any returns.
Answer: I'm sorry for the delay responding to you on this. Unfortunately, we're unable to charge import taxes before hand. So you would have to cover duties since the shipment would be coming from the United States. I would definitely recommend checking with Canadian Customs to see what the requirements are for charging duties and break your order up into smaller orders. If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out to our Customer Support in the link at the top of our SiteJabber Page.
Answer: Hi Christine, Thank you so much for reaching out. I'm going to investigate and follow up with you via email in just a few minutes.
