Guadalajara airport we reserved a SIXT car. No shuttle came so we walked over to the SIXT sign. The office and parking area totally deserted and closed Down. What a disappointment. Fortunately National was next door- National great service, price was good and we got our car. NEVER again will
I even consider SIXT
I rented a car from Sixt and when I brought it back at 11:30 am there was nobody to check it in, I saw a sign that said put keys in lock box. I did that and the nextday got a EMail that said I had damage to the passenger side door it was 3cm dent. When they sent me pictures I also had a scuff mark 8in long by 4in. Now I am not Blind I would seen that, It was not there when I dropped the car off.
I returned the car with about 2hours of usage on 2 days rental. The person who checked the car in told me that she will report one-gallon usage of fuel. After that, when I got my bill, Sixt rental cars charged me almost a full fuel tank cost. And, with an addition of about $3 on tolls, my bill went from $229 up to $381.91. Since they pre-charged my credit card, they have their way with it. It's a shame how Sixt Rental Cars took advance of their customers. No wonder, there was no customer lineup at their business when I checked in. Now I know why. Stay away from Sixt Rental Cars; It's bad company.

The worst customer service ever. DO NOT RENT CAR FROM SIXT!
I rented a car for a long weekend in Tampa for a business conference. I barely drove the car and returned it in perfect condition. I later recieved an email stating I returned the car damaged. I filled out the questionaire stating there was no damage and this was a mistake. 3 months later I recieved an email with multiple attachments. One was a quote from an appraising company, one was pictures of the damage and one was my contract with an invoice looking for a payment of over $700. After reviewing I saw no damage at all to the car in the pictures and I called. They basically said there was damage and someone will call me back. Now it is a game of phone tag to get someone on the phone. I am fighting this. I wish I had read the reviews before I rented from these theives.
I don't want you to experience what we experienced with SixT. So don't use them.
We rented our first car from SixT in Milan Italy. As our flight slightly delayed, when we went to the counter the agent said the car we reserved was no longer available and offered more expensive rental. We cancelled the contract and walked away. This time we booked a car in Geneva Switzerland. Our flight delayed and exactly the same thing happened. They offered again more expensive one. We rented this time and returned it few days later. They sent invoice for the scratch damage on three tire wheel hubs for over US$1,495.90 which we did not damage. I filed insurance claim at AIG and AIG paid SixT US$ 1285. 69. Then I requested SixT to issue a credit for US$ 1285. 69. They refused to do so. So I filed dispute with the credit card company. Please don't use SixT and I don't want anyone go through this headache. I believe there is fundamental ethical issue with the corporation.
Rented a car in Lisbon. Filled car with gas 12 KM from airport and returned it. Received invoice 6 days later with 65 Euro fuel charge, 25 Euro fuel service charge and 10 Euro late return charge. All these charges are bogus. Would not rent from Sixt again
I prepaid my rental from CDG and received a confirmation that everything was included. At the desk I declined any additional optional/insurance etc. I returned the car with no damage and a full tank. And yet I was charged an additional amount, explained as: rental x, "voucher" y, amount x- y charged to your card. No explanation or claim of damages etc. They simply treated the amount I had accepted online not binding on them. I wrote them as soon as I got home. They answered after a month asking "what is it you don't understand in our bill" - not addressing at all my letter. I responded documenting my rental. Silence. A follow-up and still silence. It is almost 3 months. It seems they hope customers will simply quit.
Do not use this company! On 11/19, I went online and paid in full with my debit card a rental car. I called the company to confirm what I needed to bring with me on 11/20 to pick up the car. I showed up 5 min before I was supposed to be there and they informed me that they couldn't take a debit card without an outgoing flight, which I wasn't flying. The clerk informed me that they couldn't take the debit and said she can refund it but would take up to 10 to 15 days to process. She then stated she could set me up with another car but the rates would be more and would need a major CC. I cancelled my holiday vacation and called their customer service when I got home. That was no help, I had talked to the Supervisor who informed me it was my fault for not reading the terms and conditions (which is in the FAQ part of their website, not at checkout). She then stated it would be 3-10 days to get my refund. So I waited until today to email (10th day) and was informed by email that I was a NO SHOW and they will not give me a refund. I called the customer service and they documented my call and told me they would escalate the call. In the meantime, they are keeping my $478 I paid and now is lying about it.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, they are frauding the customers. Not just me, look at the reviews coming from others. Why wonder their rating is so low. I have also filed a complaint with the BBB.
After being very badly let down by a competitor who told me to ring a couple of days prior to request to book a specific hire car, But when I called to book I was informed they had nothing available. Called into your Manchester Piccadilly office spoke to Kenneth & Melanie who said they could supply an SUV which I required, they also made it possible for me to pay by Debit card as I do not have a credit card.
All the staff at Sixt have been very helpful and they will be my first choice next time I require a Hire car
I got an email the day before I was about to pick up my car saying that the rental had been cancelled. Conveniently for them, this email arrived after their phonelines had closed for the weekend. They had already taken my money to pay for the rental of the car and have as yet not returned it. I wish I had seen these reviews before I booked. When I called to complain, the person I spoke to refused to let me speak to a manager and ended the call while I was talking. I purposely refrained from swearing as I know from previously working in call centres that they can end the call. I would never use or recommend their service to anyone.
Car reserved was not available.

This company is a scam. When weather changed a flight the company wanted to charge $200 fee to change or give credit for one year. I opted for credit. I received an email with confirmation and "Security Code". The email states a year to use the credit. Two months later I tried to make a reservation and the computer gave me an error. When I tried to call it played a COVID unavailable message. I send emails to service unreturned. I finally called new reservations and the guy on the phone said my reservation was a now show and hung up the phone on me. This company is a complete sham. DO NOT USE! BUYER BEWARE!
Every phone tree ends with the computer hanging up on you. The real purposes of the "customer service" line is obviously to prevent you from talking to a human.
We rented cars from them before and did not have any problems. However, this time we were not lucky! We rented cars in Poland, two different cities as we had planned in advance. But both offices used the same scandal by saying there were damages we did not make. We dropped off car at Wroclaw airport and the guy said we were good to go. There was no checking of the car. We thought it was good and we did not even think about it. On the same day, we traveled to Gdansk and picked up our car. There was no checking the car but we did not realise what had happened with our car rental at Wroclaw. We received an email late that night with photos of damages they wanted us to accept. We wrote back to them to deny the charges but have not heard back. So wben we returned the car at Gdansk airport, we asked the guy to check the car with us. At first, he did not want to but then he went to check the car. Interestingly, he found a few very tiny issues that no one would notice unless they already know where they are. For example, a tiny stone chip < 2 cm w/o crack on the passenger side! A couple scratches on the bumper sides. We were very upset and told the guy this was crazy. He just said they will let us know the cost of the damages. We cant believe they would do that to make money out of the insurance from the credit card companies! We wrote to all the relevant departments but have not heard back. Looking at the reviews here and it confirmed they are doing this ugly scams to a lot of people!
MY one and only experience with Sixt Car Rental Comnpany was bad. Read the contract carefully before agree to rent a car from them.
I was going to give a great review, and then they charged me a late charge when I brought the car back 12 hours early because of a change in my flight. Still have not gotten a response.
We recently hired two vans on separate occasions and found the service excellent, staff were helpful and informative, vans were brand new or only a year or two old and in excellent condition. Great company to hire from. They don't sub-contract their vehicle hire, unlike other van hire companies (including national companies). Highly recommended
We hired a BMW from Sixt in Italy over 2 years ago with full damage insurance included.
Now after 2 years plus their dept collection angent in Germany are chasing me for 609 eu for: extra paint work damage they found: They say they contacted me within 2 mths of my hire, they did not, When i asked for more evidence of the said damage all they supplied was a damage " tick " sheet.
After many emails to and from their head office in the UK i have been told that i should only contact their collection agent in Germany. I don, t think so!
In my view they have got to be the most untrustworthy hire company on this planet.
My next ( non) action is to wait and see what action the collection agent takes i e. Legal proceedings etc.
Answer: They don't hire enough customer service staff. After an unhappy rental with them I started reading reviews and found nothing good, Never again.
