Booked a car for our trip to Costa Rica. The website showed a lot of cheap prices, and we chose one. In the booking process, other prices came up and we discovered those low prices were for prepaid bookings. So we did. Then plans changed and I had to cancel. THEN discovered that the prepaid prices were NON-REFUNDABLE. This is not made clear during the booking process. Only by diving deep into the Terms and Conditions document did I discover this policy. This is an underhanded and predatory practice, to not state the non-refundable nature of the cheapest prices. Watch out for this company!
CARLA CAR RENTAL app (Rent Carla) and MXC Car Rental companies in MEXICO CITY are SCAM, UNRELIABLE COMPANY AND VERY IRRESPONSIBLE
I did a pre-paid reservation in advance and worth US$300 with Carla Car Rental app (Rent Carla) to pickup the car in the MXC Car Rental company.
I arrived at Mexico City airport at 9PM and when I went to the rental car store to pick up the car, the attendant informed me that she didn't has the car I rented and that she only had a pickup truck available for twice the price OR and that she would have the car that I rented after 40 minutes and that if I waited she would give me the car. When I returned after 10 minutes she had closed the store and left me without the car and completely losted.
I had to go to Hertz to rent another expensive car and I lost the $300 I had paid and they still haven't given my money back.
They didn't show any respect or commitment to me. Unbelievable!
It was all very stressful.

Llegamos al aeropuerto de la Ciudad de México a las 9PM y cuando fuimos a la tienda de renta a recoger el auto, la dueña nos informó que no tenía el auto que yo alquilé y que solo tenía una camioneta disponible por el doble de precio O y que ella tendría el auto que alquilé después de 40 minutos y que si esperaba ella me daría el auto.
Cuando regresé después de 10 minutos ella había cerrado la tienda y me dejó sin el auto. Tuve que ir a Hertz a alquilar otro auto caro y perdí los $300 dólares que había pagado y todavía no me los devolvieron. No mostraron ningún respeto ni compromiso hacia mí. Increíble!
Fue todo muy estresante.

Cheguei no aeroporto da Cidade do México às 9PM e quando fui até a loja da locadora para retirar o carro, a atendente me informou que não tinha o carro que eu aluguei e que só tinha disponível uma caminhonete pelo dobro do valor OU e que teria o carro que eu aluguei após 40 minutos e que se eu aguardasse ela me entregaria o carro.
Quando retornei após 10 minutos ela havia fechado a loja e me deixou sem o carro.
Tive que ir até a Hertz para alugar outro carro maus caro e perdi os U$300 dólares que havia pago para a e até hoje não me devolveram.
Não tiveram respeito e compromisso nenhum comigo. Inacreditável!
Foi tudo muito estressante.

Vehicles are randomly available. I check app and 10+ cars are available for the dates requested. An hour later, no cars are available. A few hours later, 10+ cars available again. In Addition to prior reviews I have read stating Carla is a scam-, customer requested to pay more money, car not available when customer went to pick up vehicle.
I was encouraged to try Carla for Personal use and GIG economy.
Skeptical. Risky. Please prove me wrong.
Defrauded over $220 by this company after already paying $135 to Avis. Customer service was nonexistent and no refund offered. Beware of this scam!
I pay online $215 and my pick up day I went to the agency and want to charge me $1,800 more I never get the car, I'm trying via e mail to get my money back but no one helps. A BIG SCAM
I used them for a recent trip. Without telling me, they added on a $192 extra fee for something called "Carla Plus." I contacted them within minutes, and they refused to refund me. They also told me that all fees were paid in full, yet when I picked up my car, I was charged almost double the total price of the car. Carla tells me that they would "let their escalation team know" and that they would be getting back to me. It's been almost a month with no contact. Would not recommend.
You can use a debit card thru Carla but when you go to pick up the car, you can't use debit. Missed my brother funeral, left me stranded in ATL for 2days it's been two weeks and no refund yet. Customer service is one person. They blocked me from calling about my refund. Poor customer service all together. DONOT GO THRU CARLA CAR RENTAL! YOU WILL REGRET IT, TRUST ME!
I was charged, even though the rental company called and told me they had no cars available. I didn't think I would be charged, but low and behold I was definitely charged. I have been getting the run around. Please do not use this service.

My experience with the Carla app has been extremely disappointing. Despite reserving a car at a specific price, I ended up paying a higher amount when I picked up the car on the scheduled date. This inconsistency is unacceptable.
When I contacted customer care for assistance, they proved to be utterly unhelpful. Their responses felt robotic and lacked any real attention to my case or effort to resolve the issue.
I expect transparency and professionalism from the services I use. Unfortunately, Carla failed to deliver on both counts. Until they improve their customer service and pricing practices, I cannot recommend this app to anyone.
I put in my credit card information just because I wanted to compare my options with other rental agencies but I couldn't find anything that I like so I exited out the app but then maybe an hour later I got charge for $54 on my account and I contacted them and they said that I had a reservation for a rental in Rhydia, Saudi Arabia? Which is wild because I don't even have a passport, so how and why could I possibly book that? Anyways I emailed them and called probably two weeks straight and they just had me running around in circles and then they tried to offer me a $60 credit which is wild again because I never paid for anything. I never authorized anything but they're saying they can't refund.
I've was told to pay 73$ then it took 19$ I get to the rental place and they don't take my card, I have called and harassed these people and nobody has sent me my refund, I am thinking of taking small legal action!
I am writing especially for American tourists, please read my message before you book any car through this app, you will lose money, and so I booked a car through this app, they charged me 574$ of the initial amount and I had to pay the rest of the money in the amount of 1200+ $ when I pick up the car, but when I arrived at the Avis location to pick up my car, they told me that they did not have this car and apologized for the damage caused, they wasted my precious time + because of them I lost an important business meeting, but that's not all, after I wrote to Carla's support service to get my money back for the goods not received, they refused to return the money to me without any reason, and there can't be any reason and it doesn't matter to me since I I didn't receive my car and besides the fact that they were obliged to immediately return my money, they also owed me compensation for the damage and inconvenience caused, but they even refuse to return my money to me, and this is chaos and illegal action, I ask all tourists to be be careful from this app and Avis rental car, if you suddenly pay in advance through a credit card or through another and you have a problem with the car, then you will most likely lose all your money thanks, and I am not going to pay not one cent, and after I have a problem with my credit history, there will be legal problems with this company with my
Never received a rental car - I cancelled the car because they changed my pick up date - I told them that was not an option I needed to pick up the car on the day I requested. They have one agent that answers the phone and says they have no supervisor available. I have reached out via email as well and get no response. THIS company IS A SCAM
I tried to rent a car without a credit card. I clicked on I don't have a credit card and I was still charged and not allowed a refund. The app is now not allowing me access to my funds or the reservation I made. I paid for free trip cancelation and I was not allowed to cancel.
I paid $136 deposit and when I went to pick up the car, I was informed of an LA Local policy (this was never disclosed during my reservation on Carla) where I would be required to make an additional $1k deposit and I could not drive out of the state. Since these were not disclosed at the time of reservation, I was not prepared to make such a high deposit, and I needed to drive the car out of state - that was the whole basis of renting the car. I was also told I needed to provide my full personal insurance policy, which was not disclosed in their "documents required" section.
As none of these terms were made clear, I was not able to pick up the car and fulfill the reservation. This is 100% the fault of Carla for not providing the customer with the accurate terms of the rental.
They have refused to refund me the deposit, and have been dismissive in their communications. I will never use their services again and I urge any who are considering it to book with another company who will be responsible for proper disclosure of terms and customer service.
Never received a rental car and canceled a day before I don't like the results from this company of not receiving a refund or helping me to stop a payment taking from my account every 2 weeks for a rental car I never received. I will make sure never to try to go the company ever again and inform other people, I know, do not trust this company of getting a rental car or you will lose your money.
Let me just say. I should have trusted the reviews. Not only did it take them almost a month tk get back to me about my refund then they proceeded to tell me that I was rejected from getting my refund. Even though I never even actually picked up the reserved vehicle. Not to mention the fact that I was told per the actual car rental place that I'd be getting a refund back. Need less to they hook people in with their low prices but buyers beware because it's just a way to scam you out of your hard earned money. Customer service is an even bigger joke simply for the fact that they Make it such a drawn out process to even get the refund by telling you you'll get a response in ten days. Then they don't even bother to follow their own terms and conditions by responding back to me in those ten days. I have to reach back out to them through email in order to get my rejected response. Yet they want to stress to me about terms and conditions yet you don't even follow them yourselves. Poor customer service. Worse communication. Overall horrible experience. Steer clear if you value your money.
I rented and they said you only need a debit card. They took $1000 out of my account. When I got to the counter they said I needed a credit card and I never received the car. So am still fighting for my money. HORRIBLE COMPANY
When i was stuck ln sarasota. They told me a car was available i spent money and ubered to the airport. The car was not available and they dont want to refund my deposit
These people are a straight scam they are going to keep your money if you decide you no longer want the car and even if your cancelation goes thru they still keep 50%of your hard earned money I wouldn't recommend this service to any one I'd rather catch the bus They're money hungry and cares nothing about your well being or livelihood you can accidentally spend money you didn't mean too and there gonna keep it you can tell them that's the money for your baby to live and there gonna keep it you can tell them your rent has to be paid and there gonna keep it run don't walk it's a SCAM! They took over 400dollars of my money and refused to make it right denied my refund with out reason
Answer: Total scam. I've reported them to the BBB, The Federal Trade Commision and The Attorney Generals Office in the state their located in, in an attempt to get my money back.Good luck. Run the other way while you can.
Answer: Never use these people, carla.com. If you gave then the reservation fee I hope you can get it back. They took my money and never sent the reservation. File a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, Federal Trade Commision, and The Attorney Generals Office.
