Copied directly from my BBB (Better Business Bureau) claim:
Purchased Leads that are absolutely worthless. In 2 months I have received 1 valid lead and even that was marginal. I am paying $221.00 a month.
In August 2015 I purchased leads from Realtor.com due mostly to a smooth talking (& lying) salesman. It is almost exactly 2 months later and I have received 5 leads for my $221.00 a month. Here is what the leads consisted of:
The first lead was someone that would not return a call, email or text. The next 2 were manufactured home leads and in Oregon we have to have a special license to sell manufactured homes -- which I do not have - so these 2 were definitely worthless. The next one was guy commenting on the picture of the toilet in the 1st picture on the listing -- he wasn't in any way interested in having a realtor call him (although I did call him), and the next one was someone asking who did the remodel on the house? They did not leave a phone number (and I was told this makes it an invalid lead). So, 1 lead (which was marginal) and I was told I would have 40 to 48 leads over 12 months. I am 2 months into this terrible program and have spent $442 and have nothing close to even a decent lead. Not one of the leads was worth a penny, much less the $440 that I have paid them. When I called to cancel the account today, they told me that I had agreed to a 12 month commitment -- but, I did not sign anything with them, and Michael Herrera told me that I got an email and that meant I agreed to what they sent me.
October 21,2015, Michael Herrera, Account Specialist would not help me and told me there was no manager or supervisor that I could talk with and that I was getting what I agreed to. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NOT WHAT I AGREED TO. Why on earth would I as a small business, who needs leads, agree to pay $221 a month of my hard earned money to get nothing of value.
He told me that we could review the account at 90 days (so they could suck another $221 out of me for another month) and there is NO reason for me to pay for another month when I am not getting anything close to what I expected, and agreed to. If they were providing what we agreed to, I would not be writing the BBB right now.
NEVER NEVER NEVER use this company to generate leads. These ARE NOT leads - In 32 days, I got one "lead" - which was a guy who called at 3 am to see a house.
I have tried very politely to cancel, as I will not keep paying $322 a month for nothing, and they have told me that I can not cancel. Its "impossible" to cancel?
I've reported them to the Better Business Bureau already. ALL I wanted to do was cancel, but now its my mission to let everyone I ever meet in this business know how awful they are.
I tried them for one year. In theory, buyers on Realtor.com interested in a particular property ask for more information via email. Realtor.com forwards it to one of the agents in the queue who purchased this zip code who should contact the buyer within minutes. I always contacted the buyer within minutes. Realtor.com sent me about 3 or 4 leads a week.
MY EXPERIENCE:
98% of the time buyers would NOT answer the phone, nor would they would return a phone call or email.
Of the people I spoke to, the vast majority were just 'lookey-loos' attracted by an impossibly low price; my area has many country clubs with required membership equity of anywhere form $40k-$100k (plus annual fees of over $25k) so many beautiful homes are languishing on the market at ridiculously low prices.
In addition, I was receiving leads from other realtors who were also advertising with Realtor.com and, in this way moved themselves forward in the queue for referrals (the minute one gets a referral, they would submit a request for info on a property- often their own listings!)
At the end of the term I advised my customer rep that I was not renewing. From that moment on (even though I had another MONTH left on my subscription) I didn't receive another lead (as bad as they were).
You've been advised.
Realtor.com is the worst website for lead generating has taken me a week in a half to cancel and then only because I agreed to pay for six months, never again, ever and the worst part I will be a driving force to get the word out about these crooks, they don't deliver they try to upsell you and really just lie. BAD, BAD BAD Avoid at all cost!
Doesn't get any worse than this. Stay away!
This was a house up for sale in my town. They decided to give it out for rent. Me and my sister (Stupidly) sent and paid over $500 to these house owner, and never got the keys, or heard back from them.
You sight gets worse and worse each day. I don't know what you're doing, but your site is painfully slow and keeps freeing my computer. Doesn't always give you homes that are listed. Sometimes using the same criteria we get homes that we have never seen before and that have been listed for a long time.
I was in one area and received one lead they told me after 5 days a new area opened up and they would move me they charged for both in the same month. I did get the one charge back however I tried to cancel I had my bank on the line as well and they would not budge. I was told I would be the only realtor for a area and there is a different realtor on each house. There is one house I am on and paying 215.00 a month they told me there were 400 listings I would be on lie. The sales rep. Said I could cancel after 6 months they had no record of that but they did send it to me in writing. This is such a scam I would not recommend to anyone, There are better ways to spend your marketing money. I would give them no stars if it would let me. Very disappointed in this company.
LIES ALL LIES SAVE YOUR MONEY THEY wanted to charge about 100$ per lead... i told the sales rep tyler carr that was our state law that limits it to 50$ which I would not pay anyway
Hi fellow realtors and brokers,
I could put zero stars, which is what the representative of this company, Tyler Carr, really deserves. I can't believe I got duped by him. Tyler Carr told me that I could get 48 guaranteed leads in six months. After my six months expired, he is denying that he ever told me that he guaranteed the leads. I only got 36 actual leads and none of them were any good! Watch out because all they want to do is take your money; they don't care what kind of leads you get, especially Tyler Carr!
P.S. This is my first time posting on this site, and I hope you don't have to go through what I had to go through with them.
They lock you into a binding contract without your consent (I'm stuck for 12 months paying 400 per month), and never disclose anything. I have been trying to cancel and I get the same person every time I call. He said I need to leave the real estate field and revoke my Mls access in order to cancel. I asked to see a copy of that policy, and he said "it's not for public disclosure". SCAM SCAM SCAM!
The following is strictly my opinion. They promised leads for my Realtor Business. Most of their leads came at middle of their night hours. Their coaching tells you to call prospect within 5 minutes, even in the middle of the night. What are we, used car sales? Truly unprofessional. I was very disappointed with their service and WOULD NOT recommend to anyone.
This site never removes data that is incorrect and out dated. Not customer friendly! Poor customer service! Unprofessional. Not knowledgeable about listings!
I was told by Peter Kapp. I would receive 20 buyer leads per month. After the first month, I only received 3 leads. I contacted customer service and requested that they cancel my service and was then advise I would not be able to cancel and I would be responsible for paying the reminder of the 6 month contract. Also, the same day of requesting a cancellation, Majidian enrolled me into the fivestreet program without my authorization. Both services will now cost me $147.00 which I do not want.
I've been conducting a home search the past few months and found Realtor.com to have the most comprehensive list of homes for sale in my area. Thanks!
Might be a good search tool to possibly find property but the site takes so long to load do to excessive ads and pop up garbage you leave for another search option.
I wanted to set 2 appointments to look at homes on Saturday. I filled in the online request form and I got a call from a real estate agent who was not the listing agent and knew nothing about the listing who wanted to take me as her client, but I wanted to deal with the listing agent. So, I called the listing agent and told her I had seen a sign in front of this home and wanted to see it it was back on the market, since I knew it had an offer pending on it about a month ago. She told me it has an offer pending and should close sometime next week. Why didn't Realtor.com show it as Pending? I then called the listing agent for the other home, and they said the same thing, it has a sale Pending... Realtor.com advertises that it has current and up to date information, but obviously it does not.
We just recently purchased a second home in South Lake Tahoe and Chris, with Chase Realty, was who we used as our real estate agent. He tried to make the process of working with the seller's agent as painless as possible for us. Chris was extremely knowledgeable about the Tahoe area since he grew up around there and offered us plenty of useful tips and advice about the different areas of Lake Tahoe before we bought our home. He was very thorough and meticulous when it came to the paperwork, which made the purchasing process easier for our bank.
Since the close of our house, Chris has checked in on us several times to make sure everything was still ok and even recommended some excellent contractors for us to use to upgrade some things in the house. He did his best and treated us like we were family. If we ever needed a realtor in this area again, without a doubt, Chris would be our go-to person.
This was by far the worst possible way to spend money in real estate. Never use Realtor.com when trying to generate leads... each person looking to buy was not a real lead... just people who already had agents. Sometimes they were even contracted with another agent and reaching out to people on realtor.com just to get more information themselves. It was an awful experience with them. I would like to help agents save their money and put it where it counts... which is NOT with Realtor.com
Best of luck to all the agents out there!
They told me if I sign up for a month to month I could cancel at any time. To find out 3 weeks later when I tried to cancel (due to the fact your sharing same leads with other agents) that I was locked into a year "contract" and could not cancel. I told them I never signed up for a year contract and I will be canceling my service. I was never inform that I would be sharing leads with other realtors and most of my leads where coming in between 11pm-2am? Who's going to call a lead that late? They said in stuck with the contract and theirs no way out. How can you give false information and bind some one to a contract you never signed and had no knowledge of? They should be sued!
UPDATE 7/27/15
After posting this I decided to report them to the Better Business Bureau. I explained to them my problem with realtors.com and they opened up a case. In about a week I was contacted by a representative from moves.com, which is the owner of realtors.com. She explained to me that it can be canceled at anytime, and that there reps should have never threaten me about how they can not cancel my service. I'm happy to say my service is canceled and I no longer have to deal with them again.
Answer: Don't do it! Total scam. They don't allow you to cancel, and don't deliver what they promise. I've wasted $1500 and they want to stick me for another $4500! I signed up for an area with $800k average, but ALL of the leads are for $50 mobile homes. COMPLETE SCAM!
Answer: You can file a claim with the BBB. I am in the process of looking for an attorney. Small claims court is always an option.
Answer: Just be sure you are dealing with a realtor. Do not send any money to anybody at a moneygram account. Just make sure it is a realtor you are working with. Because there are scams out there that ask you to send money pretend to be owner etc. you can always ask for license number and go to trec website and check to see if number is real. Hope that helps.
Answer: I hope that if enough of us post about Realtor.com scamming, defrauding our industry we can stop them, scammed myself, never again, worst customer service I have ever encountered.
