Bad company
October 28, 2025

I miss so many appointments because the company wants the agent to call the doctor office to verify the appointment, I know two of my doctors are not easy to answer their phones. When they can't answer they cancel the appointment.

ModivCare enforces a shameful and unsafe policy that prohibits passengers from being accompanied on rides unless a very specific medical necessity form is sent to them and "reviewed." It doesn't matter if you're a small, young woman being sent on a four-hour trip with a total stranger — you are not allowed the basic safety of having a trusted person ride with you. When I called to ask if my doctor's signed note would suffice, I was told "absolutely not." It must be their paperwork, with no exceptions — even for urgent or one-time trips. This rigid red tape forced me to cancel, leaving me with no choice but to pay $400 for a taxi so that I could be accompanied and not put in a dangerous position. To make matters worse, ModivCare doesn't even provide a photo of your assigned driver beforehand. You are expected to climb into a car with a stranger, completely alone, for hours. In 2025, it is outrageous and offensive that women's safety is treated as an afterthought. This policy is not only sexist — it places vulnerable passengers directly in harm's way. ModivCare should be ashamed. Until they change this policy, I strongly warn women and families: do not trust them with your safety.

This company is horrible. Their voice response system never works. Getting a hold of a real person takes forever. This 5 day advance notice is ridiculous and one minute they're approving transportation and the next they're denying the same trip. Their supervisors are useless with no manners or professionalism.

I AM LEGALLY BLIND. I CAN NOT USE THE APP TO SCHEDULE A RIDE. I HAVE TO CALMY INSURANCE CIGNA TO ASK THE REPRESENTATIVE TO CONNECT ME WITH A LIVE AGENT. I KEEP TELLING THE REPRRESENTATIVES FROM THE TRANSPORTATION COMPANY TO SCHEDULE MY RIDE WITH A COMPANY FOR SPECIAL NEEDS, HOWEVER, THEY SCHEDULE MY RIDE WITH LIFT OR UBER. THEY DID IT THREE TIMES. I CALLED 2 TIMES TO SPEAK WITH A SUPERVISOR. THEY SEND A MESSAGE TO THE TRANSPORTATION AND THEY KEEP SCHEDULING MY RIDE WITH LIFT. WHY THE PEOPLE DO NOT LISTEN?. THIS TRANSPORTATION COMPANY DO NOT HAVE PEOPLE WHO LISTEN TO THE CLIENTS. I HOPE THEY READ THIS MESSAGE AND TRAIN THE AGENTS PROPERLY. PLEASE IMPROVE THE SERVICE!

Setting up a ride
May 18, 2025

Scheduling a ride with them is horrible. I've had so many problems. This last one included I set my ride up for Tuesday 2 days in advance. On Sunday. It was denied because you can't set up your ride on Sunday's. Now when I call tomorrow they will say it's not enough time. Sucks!

If I could give them zero stars I would. They never show up. We ask them to book rides and they'll say they are on the way and never come, I got hung up on by the dispatch they routed me to different places that would hang up on me, they will say they picked you up and try to get paid for a ride they never gave, they are shysters from the drivers all the way up the buck never stops.

This company has contracts with other NEMT {non-emergency medical transportation} companies. If you are not a close buddy or best friend, they will not give you the trips needed to stay in business. There needs to a market place so the NEMT companies can accept their own rides from Modivcare. Modivcare insists on a monopoly on transportation in most states. That is why so many people complain about rides not showing up or being cancelled at the last minute. THEY DON'T CARE. They have the contracts through the government and that's all they care about.

They canceled 12 minutes before I was to be picked up for an appointment that is over 2 hours from my home. Luckily, I had a feeling and I booked the pickup so early that I had enough time to get to the train station, take the train, then take a l y f t to my appointment. When it came time to pick up, the driver was arguing with me that he was at the front entrance when he was in reality inside the garage. Don't trust this putrid operation.

From issues with my address not being shown sending the driver to the wrong pick up, representatives were very rude with very much attitude they constantly hang up on you instead of helping. They need to retrain the representatives or get new ones. Representatives do not care about making sure you get to your appointment on time and will be rude and unprofessional

Today, February 18,2025. I have been on the phone with Humana and motive care four times just today. This is usually every single day. I have missed 13 days of medication in a row. Regardless how many times we call them and tell them that I can't ride with this company for legal reasons or that company for legal reasons because of a situation that happened in the vehicle with a ride that motive care set up for me, they continuously continuously and continuously assign them to me or they will assign me a company that is temporary closed or they will assign me a company that has told them probably over 35 times now that they cannot accommodate my ride at that time. But there is a company that is 10 minutes from my house who also has a rider who goes to the exact same place that I go to for medication who lives about two or three blocks from my house, but they won't set me up with them again, even though I rode with them for a year and a half God forbid I make it to my appointment I drive almost 100 miles now to go to this appointment tomorrow will be 14 days if I miss tomorrow, I will have to ride every day there and back 238 miles there and 238 miles back so they took the Lyft for tomorrow's ride and put Uber, which I am not allowed to ride with either of them legally that's how dumb they are. They give me a company that's closed. I've had a seizure broke two teeth and cut my head. They don't care they think it's a game. It's a big joke. I wonder how many people they've killed by not taking them to their appointments and having them Mr. Medication I bet you several. I don't honestly know how that they can look at themselves in the mirror. I was told last night by one of their robots that the routing team isn't actually people it's a generated random computer I said really now we all know that's not true. We all know that it's their dumb $#*! people that they have working for them that does this they're so-called routing team that has no clue what they're doing. This is the worst company. I have no idea how they are even up and running this company needs to be shut down permanently. They are playing with peoples health with their lives and have no care in the world about it. I mean is this a way of just weeding people out because they work for the state, I can't help it to wonder. Or is it they're just packing money that's why they don't want to set up rides because we're taking the money for the rides and they can't have it for themselves and their pockets aren't getting full and they can't steal as much money I mean really what is it because why wouldn't you Set somebody up to go to the doctor? It makes no sense to me. I can only come to some conclusions that aren't so good. Well I have switched to Sunshine, but I have to wait until March 1. They no longer deal with motive care Sunshine smarten up and dropped them so anybody who is looking to stop dealing with this ridiculous company that should be closed down permanently. Should switch to Sunshine Health because they smarten up and draft them like they should be. Now I unfortunately have to call them back because I just got off the phone with somebody and I'm not sure what happened. I'm so sure it was a total accident, but I got hung up on. I'm sure it was an accident though cause they wouldn't do something like that not this legit company. The first cannot come soon enough. I cannot wait until I do not have to deal with this company any longer they are the absolute worst. They are trash, nothing but trash I really would love to know the number of how many people they have actually killed and I do use the word killed by not picking them up for their appointments and getting them their medication. I know I'm very sick right now. I've already had a seizure broken teeth so I've got a lawyer I'm suing them smarten up people and switch to Sunshine. They don't have anybody to set up rides for they will get shut down.

Expect A Lawsuit!
February 16, 2025

Transportation for my 100 year-old mother-in-law was scheduled 72 hours in advance for discharge from rehab under Medicare guidelines. I called an hour before the scheduled transportation time, and was advised that the transport was still in pending status, placed on hold, and was then told it was scheduled and to expect a call when transport was on their way. No call 2 hours later. Called back and was told no transportation on weekends. Called insurance (open 24/7) and rep put thru 3-way call to Modivcare Supervisor, Brian. Brian assured he was expediting the service, expect a call back. 2 1/2 hours later, no call back. Made one last call, and was advised again no wheelchair transports on weekends. Mother-in-law got on call crying about needing ride...so sad! I'lll end up paying for a different transportation, but they will definitely be receiving a civil action for actual damages, and punitive damages! On all levels they failed to provide a service, to include failing to provide appropriate notification that they'd be unable to provide a contracted, scheduled service! I suggest anyone who suffers from their failures to do the same!

I have been dealing with motive care for way too long. I just recently switched to Sunshine Health because they no longer deal with motive care. I have to wait until the 1st of March unfortunately because I've already missed a week of my medication. I take medication every day and I've missed it over a week nowthey keep scheduling me with the same two companies that never pick me up. There is a company Quality1 who is willing to pick me up and able to pick me up but they will not assign them to me so I just keep missing my medication over and over. I had a seizure about four days ago knocked out two of my teeth cut my head so now I'm getting a lawyer involved Just so everybody knows Sunshine had opted out of motive care so if you don't wanna deal with motive care anymore switch to Sunshine because motive care is the worst they are trash.

No one listens
February 7, 2025

I have been using motive care since October and have had 2 bad rides I reported and asked for one of the companies they subcontract to be my drivers because they are good drivers. I have cancer and am driven to the clinic once a week. So far my last 2 rides were from the company I asked not to drive me. It seems to me they are favoring one company over the others. This is not fair to the other companies or me. No matter how many times I call or file a complaint they give you the old song and dance routine with form letters or answers. I am not sure if it was the 18th or 11th it was just before Christmas.

Very Hard to contact Customer Support. Automated system is time.consuming & redundant.
Website is NOT User-Friendly.
Awful!

Drivers sometimes wait at a NEARBY Address, but not the requested location - not convenient for someone partially disabled!

Forget About it if you need hellp waiting for a Pick-Up.

Hard to confirm return p/u info.

Communication? ---Usually, Drivers do not speak English.

Abusive to Elderly
December 16, 2024

I schedule my mother's doctor appointments for her because she doesn't have a phone or internet. She needs to be picked up and dropped off for her appointments. I normally call a cab for her because I live very far away and I work. I was told that her health insurance provides medical transportation. They told me to call Modivcare because it is included with her Humana plan. They asked if she needed assistance, I told them yes, she will need help getting in an out of the vehicle. I told them they would need to go to the door and ring the buzzer to get her and they would need to take her into the doctors office and and then go in to get her when it was time for her to be picked up. That is not what happened. They went to pick her up, honked the horn and then called me asking me why she wasn't outside waiting. I told them the arrangement was that they would ring the buzzer and help her into the car. They said they didn't do that. They didn't help her with her walker or anything. Abusive. Then when they went to pick her up I pre-arranged for them to go in and get her and help her. They didn't. They TOOTED THE HORN AND THEN LEFT. My 86 year old mother got outside and was standing in the rain with her walker, crying. They left her there. This is NOT MEDICAL transportation. This is rude uber drivers. The staff at the doctors office took my mother in, got her a ride and reported me to social services for abandoning my mother. I didn't abandon her, I arranged medical transportation. I had social services on my back for months. It was a horrible experience. Modivcare was so abusive that I got reported. We have since switched my mother to onsite medical care. However, when Humana asked me to schedule a physical I got totally upset. I was so traumatized. I urged Humana to discontinue using them. Also, my mother's social worker forbids me to use Modivcare. She said I would need to find better transportation. I didn't pay for this, it is a benefit of Humana
