It was easy to set this up. It did not take very long and felt quite secure.
After going through all of the steps multiple times before finally getting to the video verification, I never received the follow on email with final instructions. A significant amount of my time was lost and nothing was accomplished
I have been locked out of my account for over a month and have requested assistance several times but to no avail. I can't even electronically file my taxes now because I can't get my ID.me pin number for my accountant.

Intense but great! It took me through security channels but it was all detailed and laid out but the results of approval was worth it!

There's got to be another site that does this job. This one is absolute trash. They rejected valid documents twice and then made it almost impossible to get an answer as to why, much less a fix. After hours going back and forth with a chat bot and being told that a human would log on in "up to 10 minutes," (not to mention being kicked out of line twice), an ineffectual person said she was there to help but it was obvious that almost every response she gave was canned. It took another 60 minutes for her to fix a problem that she eventually admitted shouldn't have occurred in the first place.
Ran around in circles trying to log on. Needed a code and requested a call which never came. Already had an ID me account but had to redo the whole process to access the IRS website. Multiple verification process took a long time and required uploading license, taking a selfie and receiving a log in code for future use. Thought it was overkill... especially considering license had photo on it.
Good luck if you have to use it for both your personal and work. It is virtually impossible to get the system to work properly
Does not deserve any part of a star rating. Buckle up for many attempts to set this up if you are under the age of 40. You will use every device you have, There are many "interactive" pitfalls. Designed by clueless kids who don't rely on senior benefits. Seriously doubt they did the professional thing - testing on the users most likely to need it.
I hate this process. Nothing seems to work correctly. Video selfie doesn't work. Long wait times on the video calls. Then the email afterwards wouldn't accept my info. Had to call the phone line which was so busy it doesn't even call through to people it just hangs up on you. Called an agent to get an appointment at an office. Out local office has been shut down and closest office is 1.5 hours away in a different state with first available appointment a whole week away. That agent then connected me back to the phone line where I waited 1.5 hours just to have that woman tell me she couldn't hear me and to call back. Absolutely ridiculous! Still haven't been able to get my id verified. This whole process is BS.
I was losing hope after going in a complete circle having to login a dozen times to no avail. I contacted CS explained, then had a video conference. I was able to login and retrieve the info needed to complete my taxes and file a return. Thanks tons!
Had trouble with ID doc photo capture and upload. No explanation for multiple failures and no suggestions to fix.
I signed up a while ago but had put off uploading photos of my driver's license because I don't trust the government to keep it safe from hackers. But I finally went ahead and provided the photos because I want to know the status of my tax return I mailed to the IRS over 5 weeks ago. Although I sent it by Priority Mail and it w as delivered to the IRS over 5 weeks ago, the IRS website said they have NO record of my having filed a 2025 tax return. IRS, you are doing a really awful job.
Be prepared to spend a lot of time gathering the info they require and learning how to upload it...
