I, along with NUMEROUS others, had to wait in line for IT assistance to set this up. One couple was being assisted for an hour plus (they were still getting assistance) when I left. Could not even use properly after IT set it up for me as it was glitching. Tried to set it up off and on for 2 months before IT came to town to assist. Screwed up my medication refill schedule. ALMOST have the number to pharmacy memorized.
Too difficult to use. Had to enter and reenter and reenter so many times. Caused duplicate entries. Asked for more primary and secondary documents but would not take you where to enter. Could not find live help just AI.
I went through I'd.me to access my social security information. It was easy to do. You should try it.

However, be VERY careful during verification. Whenever you receive a passcode or security code during verification, STOP AND SAVE it IMMEDIATELY! Then you can continue to the next step.

SSA was unresponsive to ID.me. After hours of effort and the successful video call that verified my existence as an American citizen 81 years ago by birth in a well known city of Indiana, I am still "forbidden" to use the SSA site for important business to my life.
We purchased a new truck from an dealership and were told by sales staff as a retired first responder, I was entitled to a rebate but we had to complete the application ourselves on line through the company app. Enter ID me. They wanted proof of retirement, we provided the same on pension board letter head. Not good enough. They wanted proof of years of service from the agency. We gave it to them. Not good enough. They wanted a letter describing duties. We gave them that as head of detectives for a large agency for 18 years 39 total years of retired service. Not good enough because I was retired even though retirement was acceptable to apply. I guess so, because then IDMe said retirement excluded me! The letter from Human Resources included that I continued to serve part time as a background investigator for Human Resources for new employees. The wanted a photo of me in uniform, sent it to them and wanted a copy of my commission, Sent it to them. IDMe is nothing more than a sham, an effort to frustrate and dissuade the applicant. We have everything above in emails. All f that and volunteers serving can apply according to the app?!
After getting my account all straightened out, ID.me is very easy to use. Like other sites, the hardest and most annoying part is getting them to verify that you are who you say you are! After that it's easy.
Once I was able to change my PW and login the uploading of documents I found cumbersome almost difficult.

Struggled for weeks trying to get a social security account. Weeks working with Login.gov and the very nice lady at SSA. I had changed my cell phone number and that was the root of my problems. The first option of uploading documents and completing questionnaires on ID.me still failed but when I used the video option it was successful! So good to see and talk with a live person!
Truly the easiest way to access all government agencies. IRS was super helpful and I appreciate when the call failed I was contacted immediately. No wait time or down time.
