Do not do business with this company.
October 5, 2022

Do not do business with this company. As many others have said, they use nefarious methods to make you think you are calling the actual hotel. I was charged a questionable amount for recovery taxes and fees. I ran over 50 different searches across the site for different hotels, locations and dates and nowhere did I come across the amount I was charged from the phone booking. It's almost 100 dollars higher than any amount I could find including the same room on the same dates. When I questioned them about it I was sent an email with a crappy screen shotted attachment of a paragraph explaining they use that to pay the hotel taxes and fees (of course no itemized list). Guess what HotelPlanner - I contacted the hotel directly and spoke to a manager who confirmed you never would have paid anywhere near that much to them... As I figured. I went directly to the hotel site and it would have been almost 120 dollars cheeper. Put these guys out of business by not using them and if you are HotelPlanner don't bother responding. I tried to talk to you before this and you weren't having it. Enjoy the rating you so rightfully deserve.

Worse Customer Service
September 28, 2022

If I could give 0 stars I would. I accidentally booked 2 nights and called immediately to get it corrected to 1 night. In speaking to the customer service representative I was told the only option is to have the hotel cancel the entire reservation so I can go back in to make it for 1 night. I was told I would be fully refunded and instead they have sent me a voucher. I have been calling for 3 days now to speak to someone and I am being told they cannot help and they will have someone call me back but no one actually calls back. All I am looking for is a full refund so I can go back and make the reservation but they will not help.

After more than two weeks of emails and phone calls, I finally got confirmation that Hôtel Planner have credited the overcharged amount.

BUT...
When I finally got the credit on my Master card... it was not the EXACT amount….
Total fees: $171.79 CND
Fees charged: $227,48 on the Credit card

The amount that should have been reimbursed was 55.99$…. NOT just 55$.

It is not that much, I agree, but this only shows, once again, the poor quality and lack of respect that HotelPlanner has for their customers.

Let's say that I am very displeased with their services and not at all impressed by their handling of a very legitimate complaint! I would highly encourage HotelPlanner to seriously review their billing practices.

I called to book a hotel reservation. I was never told that the reservation was nonrefundable and I never agreed to this. My credit card was charged that very same day well before my trip and long before I would be reimbursed for my hotel reservation. I only realized that the hotel reservation was nonrefundable when I saw my confirmation receipt upon which time I immediately called them and stated I did not want a nonrefundable hotel reservation. I am 67 years old and know all to well that hotel cancellations are often needed. After severval calls requesting a manager callback to straighten this out, all I get is an email from support saying the reservation is nonrefundable and was agreed to without a call back. This hotel reservation was not open and above board. I feel hotel planner is stealing from ordinary people when my reservation had to be changed at a customer's request and not calling me back. I tried to transfer the hotel date about two weeks and they would not even let me transfer hotel dates and still no manager call back after about two weeks of calls trying to reach a manager. I will never use Hotelplanner again and I do not recommend this hotel reservation service to anyone.

DO NOT USE
September 20, 2022

I signed on to Choice Suites hotel reservation on line and made the reservation. Never received an email so made another reservation. Than called they corrected it and told me no charges until check in. Had to cancel reservation within the time period. I still attended a conference at the hotel. Kept getting text message about reservation. Hotel confirmed reservation was cancelled. For 20 days fought with this company about my refund. Found out thru hotel I was even using a third party. Phone conversation they identified as the reservation desk( a lie). Hotel say they don't have control of whom picks up reservation (on-line) or access to my credit card info to refund me. Hotel planner uses their credit card to make the booking. After 20 days and to many phone calls, refusal to directly transfer me to a supervisor (only a ticket to have them call me back which they never did), complaint to Better business bureau and my lawyer I finally got a refund. Do not us them! Beware when making reservation of whom you are really talking to.

Not even a 1 star review
September 19, 2022

I booked my reservation online for October 1st (check in date) till October 2nd (checkout date). The date was confirmed multiple times by the website, a verification code was sent along with one more verification before payment was processed. A few moments after processing payment I received by confirmation email. Everything was correct EXCEPT for my check in and check out date. It was booked for September 19th (check in) to September 20th WHICH IS TODAYS DATE. I've called their multiple phone numbers, not one agent answered. I called the phone number to book for the reservation and the agent was SO rude and refused to help me. Myself and my husband have been trying to call their help lines for the past 3 hours. No success. No one is answering the multiple emails I've sent and lastly, their 24/7 chat is not working. This website is a SCAM. It is most definitely not legit. There is no one willing to help with this. And since it's non refundable - you can cancel your reservation I problem but will not get your money back. All I wanted to do was change my reservation for the correct dates that I selected on the website. HIGHLY do not recommend this website. Should have known the deals were too good to be true. Also. If you're company gives you perks through perkopolis - why would they still do business with a company that's scamming their co workers?

Extremely bad, a fraudulent group.
September 14, 2022

This group is willing to pay Google a more than anyone else, so their search result shows up first, even ahead of the actual hotel one is searching for. People call thinking they are talking to the hotel, then make a reservation. Everything can go downhill from there, credit card is charged immediately, and their reservation service fee is added. Once arriving at the hotel staff explained they have so many problems with these types of services, leaving them in a position of trying to resolve problems they did not create. They suggested to me I should never use this service, or any service similar to this again. The reservation was sent in based on old prices that are no longer valid, then HotelPlanner sends the hotel a purchase order made out for far less than that, because they also want to keep part of the hotel rental rate for themselves in addition to their service fees. Stiff the hotel owner, force them to accept a very low payment without any agreement in place, HotelPlanner does not care. Obviously, the hotel refused to accept the reservation and payment, and refused to provide a room, even though HotelPlanner keeps saying it's confirmed. Then it's impossible to cancel through HotelPlanner, because it was recorded in their system as non refundable. All attempts to communicate with HotelPlanner are then refused, despite being given a few case numbers. 300 $cdn has evaporated, non recoverable, when a reservation was not even obtained. It's a business that revolves around deceptive communication, refusals to communicate, and outright scamming. Itinerary No. H******* Confirmation: *******459

Another thing to learn from this is to no longer trust Google search results. Any business that shows up high in a Google search must have paid an extremely high fee, and will have to be overcharging or providing a lower standard of service to make up for that. No longer will I trust any business that pays these high fees to Google.

I sent a final request message, before pursuing a way to escalate this. To my surprise they sent a new voucher to replace the refused voucher. However, the vouchers they have sent have a spelling mistake in the name that will probably prevent the voucher from being accepted by a hotel. So far they have not acknowledged or responded to my requests to correct the spelling. Although I have a voucher again, it's probably useless. If I try to use it and it's refused due to name not matching, then I will once again be told that the booking was non refundable. Argh.

DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT use this service! They didn't communicate my payment to the hotel and the hotel tried to bill me a second time after I paid Hotel Planner for the same stay. Hotel Planner quoted me one rate, but when the charge came through, it was 20% ($70) more than the rate originally quoted. When I asked for an explanation of why, they gave me a ridiculous generic response that "I agreed to the higher rate so they can't change it." I didn't even ask to change it, I asked why I didn't get the best price, and the hotel would have charged me $70 less if I made the reservation through the hotel. Also, I didn't know I was using them, the hotel (Super 8) sent me right through to them if you press the button for reservations. Instead, ask to speak to the front desk to make the reservation and save $70, over what these SCAMMERS will do to you. Terrible service, worst service ever.

Called the toll free number for the hotel - rerouted to an agent in the U.S. (didn't realize this until later on). Asked if we were speaking to Comfort Inn, Amherst, Nova Scotia, and the agent said yes (which was a lie). Booked a room, billed immediately, got to room and showed front desk clerk the confirmation email (my phone had been charging until this point) and that's when I realized we were charged $315.88 U.S. funds for a tiny room with two double beds (we were sharing with another couple). This amounted to $414.63 Canadian. Hotel wouldn't help saying we booked through third party. Hotel also showed the room rate as $170 Canadian, yet these crooks charged us almost double that and in U.S. currency. After about a dozen emails with these jerks, each time a different agent, bounced around from department to department, I filed a complaint with the BBB and the company had the audacity to say that we knew it was in U.S. funds as we had booked through a U.S. booking number. First, that's a lie - we specifically asked if we were speaking to the hotel and they said yes. Second, booking through an agency shouldn't matter! We book through '800' numbers all the time when booking hotels and we've never experienced anything like this. They asked to see proof that we were actually charged and we sent proof at least six or seven times, each time a different agent responding asking for the same documents. They made it clear they aren't going to refund us the difference which amounts to $98.75 ($315.88 Canadian instead of in U.S. which converted to $414.63), so there isn't much we can do. These people should not be allowed to operate when they scam and STEAL people's money and then lie about it. One of the agents also said that when people call to book, the caller is given the option of what currency to be charged and that we must have opted to be charged in U.S. funds. Yea, that's right... bill me in a currency that results in a higher amount in the country I live in - sure. Another lie.

Terrible service
August 17, 2022

First, I was duped into this site from the Hilton site where I was trying to book a room. I called in to make the reservation on the phone for a NY hotel thinking I was dealing with the hotel directly. Five minutes after booking I received the confirmation saying they booked me in Mississippi! I immediately called back and was told it is non refundable (which I knew), even though it was a mistake of their agent! Beware!

Miss leading company
August 14, 2022

They answer the phone like they are actually the hotel. They charged me in US funds with out disclosing that on the phone ( I'm Canadian and booked a Canadian hotel), I asked what their cancellation policy was ( they said 48hrs) when my email came through with my itinerary it said I agreed to no cancellation policy! They emailed me the total cost twice with two different prices ( charged my credit card that very day). Very misleading company and would not recommend booking with them! NOTE: The room was booked when we showed up so that was the only good thing...

Should be consider FRAUD
August 13, 2022

Rating Hotel Planner a 1 star is superior compared to how they actually are. My regret is that I didn't read the reviews and trusted the source. I have sent numerous emails and made several calls and ONLY response, asking for the Itinerary number H******* which they had on the complaint and was given each email and phone call, and telling me about how they only refunded $72.71 out of $285.10. Even after I informed them of the number again, NO RESPONSE. Clearly charging my AMEX for a stay night dated 4/15/2022 when reservation was for July 30,2022, should be considered fraud. It all started due to me calling on 4/15/22 assuming I was calling Doubletree Reservations at the actual hotel but when I asked if this was the actual hotel, I was informed I was speaking to Hotel Planner. I informed the representative I was not familiar with their service, and she stated Hotel Planner was the booking agent for Doubletree with Doubletree directing to Hotel Planner. Itinerary # H*******. 4/15/2022, Payment processed $285.70 AMEX 4/16/2022. Hotel Planner charged as a hotel stay for 4/15/22, NOT 7/30/22. Rep did not inform me that the room would be charged immediately. Cancelled reservation through Doubletree website 7/24/22, daughter having surgery offered documentation validating surgery and met deadline of 7/29. Cancellation conf. # *******. No instructions/guidance to contact Hotel Planner. 7/30/2022 received text as Doubletree by Hilton with reminder to check in. Immediately called the number given on the text, *******163 which was Hotel Planner. Spoke to three representatives and have given their names to the support department to verify. First call 7/30/22 12:04PM, rep. Very rude. Stated that I was required to cancel the room through Hotel Planner. I informed the rep. That there was no direction, guidance or information received regarding a cancellation. Her immediate response, and I quote. "It's obvious that you have to cancel w/Hotel Planner". The other three, 7/30,8/4 and 8/8 stated they would have a supervisor contact me and that I would receive a full refund. Hotel Planner charged me for not contacting their site $212, refunded $72.71. I asked for a cancellation policy. And no one could find anything until the email I received on 8/8/2022 which was an insert as Questions and Answers and made no sense at all. Most important this should have been received prior. I've contacted Legal, Support and still do NOT have RESOLUTION. This should be considered fraud for charging a different stay date.

Never use this hotel planner. Hotel was booked and we were charged over 200 then what the room rate was at the hotel. Highway robbery, never ever use this site to book a hotel. I am thoroughly disgusted, I called to tell them that the hotel charge should have been $205 and they charged us $466, and asked for a credit. They sent a response saying we used the room and no refund of the overcharge. Please be warned and do not use hotel planner!

I am giving Hotel Planner a minus 1 star because even one star is too much for them. I was having a hard time finding rooms at the last minute and came across Hotel Planner. The woman I talked to said they can save me money. At first I was impressed that I was able to get rooms and love saving money. What I did not understand is that Hotel Planner charges extra and takes the money immediately and it is not refundable. I thought I was getting a really nice room and it was not at all worth the $250.00 a night I was charged. I got to the hotel and was appalled that the room was run down looking. There were cracks in the ceiling and the bathroom was not nice at all. The hotel staff however were very nice and sad we were not satisfied. We ended up staying even though it was not up to standard in our minds. I told the Hotel how can you charge $250.00 a night for this room and the receptionist said we don't charge that. The hotel charged much less for that room but we got shafted by Hotel Planner. I talked to Hotel Planner and they said you agreed with that price so there is nothing we can do. I will be sure to let everyone know what a rip off Hotel Planner is every chance I get! I am a strong consumer and Hotel Planner is wrong there is a lot I can do to make sure people know they are scammers! To add insult to injury they have their emails set so you can not download them to get a proof of purchase picture!

PLEASE DO NOT BOOK ANY HOTEL WITH "HOTEL PLANNER" WEBSITE AND/OR PHONE CALL.

1) Hotel Planner put their phone number on a website that shows the hotel features that we are planning to stay for 4 nights (Caribou Lodge-Banff, Alberta, Canada). So we thought we had called the hotel directly. They never mentioned this is a third party. Even the confirmation initially was send by text.
2) They charge me based on US dollars even the price we agreed on was based on Canadian dollars. So I ended up paying more than $600 Canadian.
3) Our deal was based on "Breakfast Included". But Hotel Planner did not inform the hotel about this deal and we ended up with double payments for breakfast. Communication is on-going yet.
4) Extremely bad customer service. The booking was done for a couple of seniors, but they never mentioned about their senior's discount or promotions.

I had started working with a representative of HotelPlanner via Zola to book hotel blocks for my wedding. First, the only hotels they would provide quotes for were over 10+ miles away from our venue, despite the fact that there are at least a dozen hotels closer by. Additionally, when I reached out to my representive to discuss options, including trying to contact the closer hotels myself without going through HotelPlanner, I was completely ghosted. Then, a different rep contacted me urging me to close the deal on one of the hotels that were 10+ miles away. I then ask them if I could discuss options for a closer hotel. They took two weeks to respond asking for a list of hotels I was interested in. After providing my list, I never heard back. That, again was ~2 weeks ago. I have since sent several emails and left several voicemails for both reps as well as a voicemail to the main service line (which doesn't even let you queue, it tells you to leave a message or just disconnect), and have heard literally nothing. I would have been better off trying to do this on my own from the start with zero experience. Such a waste of time and energy.
