Beware, this company, as others have warned will misrepresent themselves as the hotel company you think you have called. I negotiated a rate as it appeared online and the agent made it seem like I was being offered a favor by agreeing to a rate that could only be offered as non-refundable, When I got the email confirmation minutes later they were charging me an additional $45/night. Getting service by a call back doesn't happen and emails are designed to not let you out of charges. The hotel can't help you because the booking can only be changed by the booking company. Hotel Planner emailed me that they can't cancel the reservation because the hotel won't let them because it's non-cancelable. Chase bank is working on it. Be certain the number you get online is really the hotel you think it is.
Do not trust them when they say your credit card didn't go through because I'm still fighting over $898.13 that they said didn't approve on their end but it did and they won't do nothing to help me get my money back

Rep represented himself as company I was calling, did not medicate a booking agency.
I called from my car to book a room. I was specific that I needed a drive up. The price was higher than I had seen on internet but Iwas unable to get the website while travelling.I was told the hotel I was booking was filling up, I could take my chances booking on the internet but internet 'bookings are not guaranteed' so I may not get my room.
The room I was getting was not what I requested, the hotel less than 40% booked.
The agent lied and pressured. The price was higher than other sites or booking directly when I compared later.
Feedback will be provided to hotel chain.
Greetings Paula,
We would love to look further into your complaint. Please provide your booking information to me directly at [email protected].

I booked my hotel for a specific weekend 4 months before my stay. 4 DAYS before the reservation they call me to tell me the hotel is overbooked and they are cancelling my reservation without any other choice. There are no other hotels in the area that have any openings AT ALL let alone for the room size that I specifically picked at the price point that I had already paid for. Thanks HotelPlanner!
Greetings,
We sincerely apologize about us being forced to cancel this reservation. I can see you made this reservation October 27 at 1:50PM. The rate provider contacted us saying the hotel is booked so we must cancel. I seen in the notes in the history of the reservation. We researched other options which was the most parallel to your reservation, but you had a preferred hotel that was more expensive. When you spoke us earlier, you preferred a refund so you could make a reservation at your preferred location.
A full refund has been processed. Please allow 2-10 business days to see that reflected on your account. If you have any further questions, please reach out to [email protected]. Again, please accept our apologies for this inconvenience.

I thought I was calling Hampton inn but got these guys asked if the hotel has semi parking and they said yes got there and that wasn't the fact then the front desk informed me that they have been getting away with this all the time also my statement of over charging a guy came in and got a room without reservations and actually got it cheaper this type of behavior has to stop
Greetings,
Thank you for contacting us. Can you please provide the itinerary number to your reservation so that we can further investigate this matter on your behalf.

My husband thought that he would use this service to book a room for a work trip. They shared the total amount for a king room, and then surprised him after processing his reservation with an additional set of fees that added approximately $70+ to the cost. He questioned them and received a lot of excuses and lame reasons. Following the reservation, he was still in question of the added charges, so he tried to check with the motel itself, and he could make a different reservation at a $70 savings. So he contacted Hotelplanner within an hour of his original reservation, and they said he COULD NOT cancel without a 30% cancellation fee! They would not let him talk to a supervisor! Saying it was not possible, plus a lot of other excuses.
We would NOT recommend this booking service at all! If you like your money, look elsewhere! I would give negative stars if I could!

I prepaid for 2 rooms, when I arrived only 1 room had been reserved through the website, although my reservation confirmation showed 2 rooms. I had to purchase another room. Hotelplanners' help desk was useless. I had to file a claim with my credit card company to finally get a refund from this Scam company.

They deceive you by using the same area code as the hotel you are trying to book, and not identifying their company name when you call. I booked a room and found they were not the actual hotel. But they get you buy a nonrefundable booking, and their fees make the room 1 1/2 times that of the actual hotel. When trying to downgrade the room to a less expensive room available on the hotel website they would not change their outlandish price. Don't believe any of the below responses from them that "they are looking into" the issue because once they have your money they refuse to alter the reservation.

I, like the other 1 star reviewers, had hard earned dollars stolen from me. Same story, they presented themselves as the original venue while promising the "lowest internet price". I had no idea I was dealing with a third party until presented with a reservation receipt that was $47 more than the agreed price.
Attempts to resolve this matter with their 'customer service' was a waste of time. Canned replies.
DO NOT USE HOTELPLANNER.COM AND BEWARE YOUR ONLINE PURCHASE ISN'T HIJACKED BY THESE THIEVES.
CONSUMER TIP: NOTIFY YOUR STATE ATTORNEY GENERAL AND FILE A CONSUMER COMPLAINT. MINNESOTA ALLOWS YOU TO FILL THE FORM OUT ONLINE. IT IS QUICK AND EASY. WHILE I BELIEVE IT IS FRAUD, IT MUST BE FILED AS A CONSUMER COMPLAINT.
ALSO REPORT IT TO YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY AND DISPUTE THE CLAIM

Worst service I have ever subjected myself to! Did not book with them as the hotel they suggested was 6 hours away from where I wanted to be. Still getting emails to review the service tho despite efforts to change that.
Would not use this service, shouldn't even call it a service. Giant waste of my time!
Do not waste your time. This is ridiculous!

Not only did it wind up costing more than advertised, but when we wound up not bringing our pet, they refused to refund the $20 pet fee, even denying that they had charged it. Next time, I'm dealing straight with the hotel.
On 9/27/22, I booked a 2 night stay at Quality Inn & Suites in Clayton, GA. On 10/12/22, it was necessary to change my check-in date one day later. Per the email at booking, I had 7 days prior to check to make changes. I did it 10 days prior. When we got to the hotel, they said we were 'no shows', cancelled the room and charged $174.50. I've spent 10 days with a hotel manager who refuses to refund. I have my itinerary number and my confirmation number for the change. I have called and emailed Hotel Planner numerous times. They absolve themselves of all responsibility. They made the reservation and the change. There is no fee listed in the original booking for changing your reservation. I was not advised of a fee at the time of change. Hotel Planner has the documentation to prove to the hotel we were not 'no shows'. Someone made an error, whether it was the hotel or Hotel Planner, I do not know. This has been exasperating. I am stuck in the middle of the hotel and the booking site, and I'm out $174.50. The answer i get from Hotel Planner is they are not responsible. Do NOT book thru this site.
My itinerary # H*******. My case #*******.
From what I am reading. These people make it a habit of booking the wrong dates then refuse to give you a refund.
I warn everybody not to use Expedia or Hotel Planner to book anything.
I have been trying for ove a month to get my money back. $1118. 53
It is a scam use by Expedia and Hotel Planner.
During a cross country trip from Ontario to British Columbia to help a friend move her belongings I made a reservation at the Carriage House Inn in CalgaryAlberta. On Thursday October 20th I googled Carriage House Inn in Calgary Alberta Canada and was led to the hotel's web page. (So I thought). After dialing the hotel number on the Carriage House site I was speaking with a booking agent who had a Southern drawl, so I asked twice if I was speaking to a person from the Carriage House Inn in Calgary Alberta Canada and I also gave the address of this Inn. The person on the phone assured me I was talking to the front desk of the Inn. The next day after checking my Visa statement I discovered that I was charged in US dollars and not the price quoted on the phone. Why in the world would I book a reservation in Canada and expect to pay in US currency. I'm in the process of disputing this charge but they are very slow at resolving any issues they are 100 percent responsible for. So frustrating
I called a local hotel for a reservation. Unbeknownst to me, I was redirected to Hotelplanner.com. The agent answered with the hotel name, posing as a local employee of the hotel. When I directly asked her, she confirmed that she indeed worked for the hotel. I continued with the booking and the price was reasonable. I also said that I would be using a credit that I had from the hotel, and she assured me that my credit card would only be used to hold the room and I could apply the credit at check in. Well, I checked my credit card after the call, and it had in fact been charged the full amount, and had been charged in us dollars even though the hotel is on canada, and I live in Canada. When I try to contact hotelplanner.com to get this resolved, I get nothing but runaround and have yet been allowed to speak with an agent.
This company is dishonest and fradulent. DO NOT BOOK ANYTHING THROUGH THEM.

Booked a room for a concert that my wife and I was planning on going to. Unfortunately I got covid and had to cancel reservation. When I booked it said 100 percent refundable if canceled before the 7th of Oct which I did on the 6ths and the penalize me and took 25 percent of my refund and then gave me nothing but addatude and told me that's not what it said when I booked it. Stay away and find a different company to book thur. There nothing but thieves.

Do not use this service. They will present themselves as the venue and then add 50 dollars for service fees. The cancelation time period starts from the minute you hang up,"Thats just the way they do it now."
That is a lie, at my hotel it turned out to be 24 hr. Prior. Bad people!

My mis-adventure with Hotelplanner:
1. The initial contact led me to believe I was speaking to a Hampton Inn. My credit card declined a charge from this site, saying it was a bogus site. Too late… I had over ridden the warning and would spend hours unwinding the damage.
2. My card was double charged. Also, I found that Hotelplanner had added $85+ in recovery taxes and fees. What are recovery taxes? I could not get an answer to that. How much were fees… for whom? When I attempted to verify my reservation with Hampton Inns, I was told the reservation came from a secondary source which they identified as Priceline. I called Priceline, who told me the reservation must have come through one of their secondary sources. That is when I encountered Hotelplanner.
3. Hotelplanner had added $85.00+ in recovery taxes and fees to my $179 room rate…that's a 47% increase in cost. Outrageous! This was not revealed until the charge went through. But, that's not all.
4. I was told by their representative that I could cancel by 6 of the next day. Because of the confusion, I chose to do that and start over. I was then told I would be charged 25% of the total amount to cancel this reservation, or 25% of the $265 that my cost had escalated to, which would be $66.25+. I should note they agreed to cancel the extra charge for the second room that I did not ask for.
Should I be upset with Hampton Inn for having a website that caused this misery…or Priceline for redirecting me to Hotelplanner…or Hotelplanner for price gouging and deceptive practices? Perhaps all the above.
Will I try again to reserve a room with Hampton Inns? DOUBTFUL. I did like their product, but their business practice of using a secondary source is problematic. Will I ever contact Priceline for a reservation? NEVER! And Hotelplanner? I will contact Better Business Bureau.
DON'T EVEN THINK OF USING these PEOPLE!
Same a several others here duped into booking then over charged the quoted price! Took them 2 -3 weeks of me nagging to return the moneys and I was sent email quoted a 162.08 return and then was returned 150 dollars even. NOTICE THE PROSESSED CLAIM To my credit card account!
150 WAS RETURNED I Guess I should count my self lucky I got anything back! They can't even follow thru on THE fix to keep there name from being posted here! Hopefully some of the people here got at least some of their funds back! I was all over these guys since the day I made my reservation! Took two - three weeks to get action! WOULD HIGHLY RECOMEND ASKING YOUR HOTEL NOT TO USE THESE PEOPLE IF YOUR BOOKING DIRECTLY!

Dear Laura,
This response is related to your reservation for Itinerary # H*******.
We have processed your C$162.08 CAD refund. Please follow up with your bank to see when the refund will be posted as a credit to your account. From our experience, it can take up to 10 business days to see the refund in your account.
They can't even be honest enough to do what they say they will do
Answer: I attempted to email, submitted a support request, called numerous times, requested call backs (received 0), attempted to chat and was continuously ignored or "disconnected", never once reaching anyone that would or could help me. Customer Service at HotelPlanner is nonexistent.
Answer: HP's staff is full of deceitful and despicable liars. Do not use HP for planning any trips if you wish to have smooth, happy travels.
Answer: Just do not use! HP is awful and they will spoil your travel plans!
