Booked a hotel in Woodbridge, Va on February 25th, 2022. It appeared that I was calling the hotel directly but the website number was obviously Hotel Planner. They charged me $120.01 for the stay. Next morning the hotel gave me the receipt for $71.82! These ripoff artists actually charged me a $48.19 fee to book this room - almost 70 percent! This is unconscionable! Several attempts to get a reduction have failed. Alert: Make sure when you are calling a specific hotel that these bandits do not intervene by advertising specific hotels but with their phone number in the website ad.

Thank you for contacting us in regards to your complaint. There is NOT an exorbitant fee charged to book a reservation using our services. The receipt provided to you by the hotel is the receipt for the company internally. Per the rate information on the receipt, it is NOT a public rate as it is contracted rate with the hotel as rooms are purchased in great quantity.

You were charged correctly for your reservation per the rate and policy agreed upon at the time of booking. Also, we do show in our system that you contacted our reservations department to book your reservation and not the hotel directly. It is imperative if you do wish to book with the hotel directly that you are contacting the hotel using their local area code.

As previously mentioned you were notified the nightly rate and the total cost of your booking prior to the reservation being booked and you agreed to the rate and terms of the booking and you were billed correctly for your reservation.

Shows hotels and motels at a good rate, but NO SUCH RATES EXIST!
NO PRICE ON THIS WEBSITE IS CORRECT!. THEY FOUND ME A HOTEL ROOM FOR $53.00, but it turned out it didn't exist The ACTUAL rate was $112. Plus tax, more than DOUBLE the original price.
The person I talked to on the website said: "Well, maybe the prices are not updated yet" and I asked him, "If they are not updated, why do they show up on the website?":

This site is dishonest, and lies to your face. I would NOT use it for ANY HOTEL or MOTEL listing!

We have been sitting here for four hours waiting on some one to fix this they booked the wrong HOTEL WE WAS SUPPOSE TO HAVE ABEACH FRONT HOTEL THAT WE PAID XLOSE TO 500. And now they want even fix it this place is a joke. This was supposed to be a special vacation for me and my husband it's ruined now THANKS YALL SUCK

This is a scam. I literally booked a hotel and canceled it the next day and they would not give me a refund. I literally sent in documentation and still nothing. It doesn't make sense how when you book with Marriott or the Hilton they refund your money so quick but these people are crooks so please don't book with them. I've been going back-and-forth with American Express and they dispute it but then they end up putting the charge back on my card. I don't know how we can stop this company from ripping people off and exposing them.

We would need to verify the cancellation policy and terms that were agreed upon at the time of booking - if you booked a refundable booking then once you cancelled your booking a refund would be processed back to your account. However if you booked a nonrefundable booking then per the terms of the booking conditions no refund would be processed per the policy.

I am the General Manager of a hotel. We have had guests try to check in for reservations that they prepaid to Hotel Planner, however, when they get here, the credit card provided by Hotel Planner was declined. We call to get an updated card and are promised a call back but never receive it. Customer service states the credit card department does not have telephones! I guess since its 2022 they are a little behind. You are taking a chance booking with this company because you may have paid them but if the hotel does not get paid the only way the hotel can check you in is if you pay the hotel directly then fight to get your money back.

If a reservation is a prepaid booking, the hotel is provided a virtual credit card that is to be utilized to charge for the reservation however without the guest name we cannot determine the cause or problem with the card as it can possibly be that the hotel is charging too much on the card and due to that fact the card is declining as there is a set limit on the card.

I booked a hotel room in Thunder Bay at 11:30 pm on May 6,2002. I was told there would be free parking. When I arrived I couldn't find the parking so I called back to the reservations operator. She tried to call the front desk of the hotel but there was no answer. I then went to the front doors and they were locked. I was not about to walk around the back of the hotel looking for another entrance since it was dark and I already had two individuals come up to me asking for money. When I tried to have my payment cancelled she said she would have to escalate my claim. I have not heard anything back. When I called back again to speak with the operator she said they have not been able to reach the hotel. I told her that wasn't my problem since they were the ones who booked me. The cost of the room came to almost $200 Canadian. Just cancel my payment on my credit card.

I was trying to book one night at Best Western Kent Narrows for a wedding I'm going to be in town for. The website kept kicking me back saying the room I was selecting wasn't available then gave me more options which had the room they claimed wasn't available? I spent 45 minutes trying to book and ended up accidentally booking 2 rooms the same night- I immediately cancelled the extra room within minutes and it stated a refund within 3-7 days. I never received my refund. My bank called to dispute and was told I still had two rooms reserved yet I have spoken to the front desk of the hotel twice and assured that I only have one reservation. When I reached out to them I was told a flat no on a refund. How do you charge someone for two rooms the same night and not refund them? I canceled literally within minutes. The charges on my bank statement are right next to each other! As a single parent to be out almost $800 for one night is sickening. CROOKS.

On one of the most important days of my life, I cheerfully approached my reserved room at Hampton Inn Research Park Huntsville, AL. Upon checking in, I inadvertently booked my reservation through hotel planner.com- the worst move ever in the history of my travels. During this event, other family members booked through Expedia, Book-it, and Hotels.com. They were all given a substantial better rate than me and the Hampton property communicated that they had never heard of this company that they were not familiar with the confirmation number. I spoke with several representatives of both entities only to be told that I would have to keep the charge of nearly $100 more for the same accommodations. Moving forward, I will NEVER use this third party agency again and will make a concerted effort to ensure that I never use this company again. So, I strongly encourage each of you to use the other booking agencies for all of your getaways.

Cancelled reservation

In January of 2022 I made reservations for 6 nights at a hotel in SC. I was told there was no refund if I
Cancelled and I fully understood that. There was no reason for me to cancel the reservation because I HAD to be in SC on the dates reserved. I was told I would get an email with an itinerary number, which I never got. In March of 2022 I called the hotel to confirm my reservation and I was told the reservation was cancelled by Hotel Planner. They could not give me a reason or a name. I called Hotel Planner
And explained the situation but they could not help me because they showed no record of the reservation being made. I was told to send them an email with supporting documentation. I sent them proof from the
Hotel that the reservation was made and the date and time the reservation was cancelled. I also sent
Proof from my credit card that I was charged and they were paid. It's been two weeks and I haven't heard from anyone about this issue. I am sending documentation of the charges and payment made to
Hotel Planner. All I want is my money refunded. If I don' hear from anyone within a reasonable amount of time I will pursue other alternatives. I am not a business or represent one.
I am a retired senior and I cannot afford to lose this kind of money. I put my trust in Hotel Planner when I made the reservation and I hope you resolve this issue.~

This has to be the most frustrating experience. I booked a 3 night stay with guaranteed cancellation. Upon cancelling, I can't get a hold of live agents for hours, when I do get a live agent they can only log a ticket. I've spent hours and hours on hold on several calls and when I finally get a confirmation I will receive a refund in 2 - 10 days 18 days later NO REFUND and NO ONE CAN HELP? REALLY? I am asked to just wait longer?

This has to be the WORST EXPERIENCE IN MY LIFE. Best to just book hotel stays directly to the hotels. There is no discount to using hotelplanner.com and in fact I booked one room using this service and another exact room using the exactly dates size etc directly through the hotel and I actually save money booking directly after scrutinizing all the added fees hotelplanner.com added to my bill.

Absolutely UNSATISFACTORY!

I booked a room through Hotel Planner and they booked the room in the wrong city. The cost was $1,687.51 and even though it was clearly their mistake they will not return my funds. Hotel Planner is not reliable nor trustworthy and I would never use their service again.

As previously mentioned in the email that was sent the receipt provided by the hotel was for the company internally and the hotel DID NOT charger Mr. Wheeler directly for the booking - Mr. Wheeler was charged according to the rate and terms agreed upon at the time of booking (The following policy was agreed to at 10:44AM CDT on 01-Sep-2021 at the time of booking.)

They did not explain the fee that is charged upon making the reservation. They ripped us off for $250.00 when it was told to us that the $250 was the price of the hotel room. The charge on our credit card statement showed the charge was in the hotels name and nothing mentioned Hotel Planner. Sneaky. Upon calling customer service it was like hitting a brick wall and when asked for a manager the buck stopped with the representative. We had previously contacted them concerning this matter and they asked for certain documentation which was emailed as requested. NOTHING came of it. Called again a few months later and was told a notification was sent to us. Never received the notification. I requested another copy be sent and they had to send the request to the "escalation team". I don't believe that we will get any type of resolution. A shame.

We had the misfortune of booking through this third party. They would not honor the discounted rate being offered by the venue for a wedding block. Charged almost $100 more per room and we could not cancel or get a refund. Recommend booking directly through the hotel or venue. Unfortunately when we went to book the rooms, this site was at the top of the page so it was the first one we saw. Live & learn - and lose $$$. Won't make that mistake again. Oh and left several messages with their support team to try and reconcile the issue. They never responded. After multiple phone calls finally received a customer support associate but to no avail.

If the wedding couple has a website then it is the responsibility of the wedding couple to input the specific instructions if they want their guest to book with the hotel directly or else their guest will be subjected to booking the hotel information populated through the wedding site.

I had booked a hotel room through this site unknowingly through the Wedding Knot, upon canceling the reservation within a week, I did not receive my full refund! It has taken me multiple phone calls, support emails and I am still waiting for it! Watch your credit card statements if you cancel to ensure you get a full refund!

Liars and scammers

This company is the worst! I repeatedly ask if they were a hotel reservation company and the said no they were the hotel, and repeatedly said there was no fee. When I got to the hotel I found out the room rate was $79, hotel planners charged $145. The originally tried to charge me $175. I immediately called them and they tried to say that I didn't have a reservation. I had to go down to the front desk so the hotel could confirm that she was looking at the reservation on my phone. He the told me I would be funded $36.77. When I got home I called them again, and was told that he listened to the call and said I was lied to. I called the hotel Manager and he tried to get in touch with them and they kept hanging up on them. (Previously hotel planner had said the had spoken to the manager, he said the was not true, he said they pay the room amount is paid to hotel planners and they profit all the additional charges they can to scam out of you. There is no one that is honest in this company that operates out of San Diego. The give American names but all their representatives are foreign, I have disputed the charges with the Credit Card Co. And they are looking into it. I would suggest everyone flood FB with information about this fraudulent company. When booking a. Hotel go to the hotel website and book directly with the hotel, they will give you the best rate and discounts. If they refuse discounts you're not talking to the hotel itself.

Worse experience
February 20, 2022

Booked 6 nights in South Beach and prepaid. When I arrived at the hotel they had not my room as Hotel Planner did a wrong reservation. Spent almost 2 hours on the phone with their support staff, mostly on hold, and was told they could not figure out how to fix the problem and they just want to cancel the reservation. I was alone in a new city at night after a longo trip without a place to stay and they even help me. The hotel canceled my reservation and I walk hours to find a place to stay. I now called them several times and also wrote emails and no confirmation that I will get a refund of my payment. Don't EVER use Hotel Planner.

For this guest complaint - they booked their reservation for a run of the house room option; they did not book a specific room type and upon their arrival to the hotel they did not like the room type provided by the hotel and declined additional options provided by the hotel and as such they requested for the booking to be cancelled. Per the guest request, the booking was cancelled and full refund will be processed to the guest account.

Department Response: Dear XXX, In answer to your previous request, we would like to inform you this booking has been canceled without penalties on our end.

The guest can expect the refund to be allocated back to their account in the next 3 to 10 business days.

Terrible experience
December 24, 2021

Don't use this service especially if you think you may need to cancel. No refund policy was explained to me that it was the hotel's policy. Trying to reach someone that could discuss my concern was difficult and experience with representative was frustrating. A huge mistake on my part to use them.
