Home Depot's reputation is marked by a mix of positive and negative customer experiences. Many customers appreciate the wide selection of products and the knowledgeable staff, which contribute to a convenient shopping experience. However, significant concerns arise regarding customer service, particularly related to installation issues, return policies, and delayed deliveries. Customers frequently report dissatisfaction with the handling of complaints and a perceived lack of support, leading to frustration and a sense of being undervalued. Overall, while the company offers a robust product range, its customer service approach appears inconsistent, impacting overall satisfaction.

My last five orders were a catastrophe, from delayed deliveries to overcharging for labor and inventory mistakes like showing 144 of something and get there and they only had 8 right now I am waiting for another delayed delivery...time to trade in my HD card for a Lowes card.
Ordered an oven to be delivered. They canceled delivery 30 minutes before they were to arrive. Now, instead of having to take one day off, I need to take two. They have refused to accommodate my schedule, even though the cancelation is their fault. The woman dispatching made it very clear that she did not care.
I dealt with their location in Moncton and Fredericton NB from 2008 - 2019. I moved to Moncton in 2019 and purchased everything for my home and all my customers until some of the staff there started getting very rude. I never returned to this location for 3 years and decided to go back and maybe they would have new staff that were pleasant to deal with. So in August i started purchasing my supplies at this location and today was the third time I got treated rudely by one of their staff members. The guy in the flooring department did not want too help me at all. I said to him if this is such a big deal then maybe I should go to another hardware store. He told me to go. So Home Depot I did just that and went to RONA and got my materials. And what a difference, I walked him and was greeted by one of their friendly staff and they assisted me with everything I need. Loaded it on my truck and thanked me for shopping there. So just too let you know that I spent $1200.00 today in their store and that is where I will be doing business for my customers and I don't care if you are giving stuff away I will never set foot in any of your locations again.
Home Depot's anti fraud unit deactivated our $500 gift card. The stated reason is that $500 cards are unusual. We have worked with them for ten months, but they have yet to refund our money. We have provided copies of bank statements and cash register slips. We have followed all requirements, but nothing. If you value your money avoid Home Depot gift cards
I paid cash for a tube of Gorilla Super Glue Gel. It cost about $6.00. After approximately 1 to 2 weeks I couldn't find the receipt. I returned the glue because it was dried up inside. I suspect it had been on the shelf for a long time. I asked for a store credit as I wanted to buy a different brand of glue. I was informed that without a receipt and because I paid cash they would not take it back. What a policy. My advice is to shop at LOWES OR ANY OTHER HARDWARE STORE.
I chose whirlpool appliance package. The installers left a huge mess. They didn't get my signature saying I inspected every thing. The microwave was installed incorrectly and had to be reinstalled. They left in a hurry not giving me an opportunity to check things.
I began thinking I had received open box or returned items. Do to dings and scratches.
The oven has never worked properly causing an undercooked Thanksgiving meal.
As our refrigerator went out while on vacation we needed an item immediately. In the mean time we salvaged what we could to store in an ice chest. We were promised delivery within 3 days we received a call that we would not receive the refrigerator for 6 days. In the meantime we are living out of an ice chest. As we live in the Pacific northwest, we were told that we could not get delivery due to a hurricane. As we all know the PNW is known for our "hurricanes"...NOT. There is seriously something wrong if your supply chain for the pacific northwest is affected by a hurricane on the SOUTH EAST COAST. When asked if I could by the floor model we were refused. As I have a printed manifest from the store with a promise date and they are now in breach of contract. When asked if we could buy the floor model we were refused. We are currently living out of ice chests we were told "oh well you'll just have to wait". My husband & I have agreed to NEVER shop at home depot again. Customer service is NON EXISTANT. Basically told to suck it up and deal with it.
We Bought a Samsung washer at Home Deport,on Aug. 13,2024. First load of laundry it stopped half way, called HD to return it, they said they would not take it back, Samsung had to take it back. Samsung said we repair it, but if you want to return it, you have to bring it to Home Depot. Home depot has a 48 hour return on Appliances, even though we had called on the same day when the machine was delivered, and the first load did not make it, that did not count for Home depot.
Now we have been waiting 4 days already on a call back from Samsung to find out when they will send a repair person, in the meantime we have a mountain of laundry laying around. Nice job, Home depot!
This review is regarding an individual who claims he is a manager at Home Depot Santa Fe, NM. Although there seems to be no proof that this fella even works there. It seems he lives in a world of delusion in which he thinks he is legitimately employed by the company but allegedly lives in his grandmothers basement. If you see Sergio tell him he is doing a great job. Don't reveal the nature of his delusion because he may suffer from another emotionsl "blow out" as it were.
Received a Ryobi hedge trimmer for a gift. Used 1 time and it stopped working. Took the item to Lebanon Homedepot to exchange or get credit for another hedge trimmer. The manager asked if I had the credit card used or a receipt. My answer is no because it was a gift. They had the same trimmer behind us and the items appearance was in beautiful condition. You could tell it had only been used once. The item is brand new evident from looking behind me there was a display of the same trimmers. The manager said she could not return the item because I had no proof of purchase. What! I don't want the money back I just want my defective trimmer replaced. She was argumentative and she wasn't going to exchange the item. I had to deal with the broken item myself. What if I had paid cash? Would that be the same reply and she said yes. In short Ryobi is their brand they sell, brand new item, no cash just a replacement and the manager says that's their policy in Lebanon Ohio. I called another store and they said it's the managers decision.
Bought a glacier bay HD*******W faucet last year installed it in a bathroom that is not used much. Went to use it and the pipe that delivers the water was rusted shut. Seems like they used steel pipe for a faucet. Called the glacier bay support and they made me go though a bunch of taking pictures. After an hour they said the book picture did not look like the faucet picture so they would not do anything for me. My advice is to be very cautious buying Glacier bay products. Not sure where it was made but must be a country who doesent care about quality.
HD makes a big deal as to how they care for the veteran with their 10% discount.
Nothing could be further from the truth!
NO discounts on lumber - electrical - tools. Their discount is a hollow joke.
I wrote a review about a month ago about how I was followed around home depot in Laurel Maryland, instead of following hardworking customers around your store, you need to check internally for your theft issues, on the news the other day, I saw that up the road in Elkridge Maryland there was a storage unit full of tools and cordless tools, there is no way a customer took that amount of equipment without being seen, which leads me to think that the problem is from the inside, when the truck makes its delivery half of your supplies are going into your employees vehicles, just like the card skimmers at the 7/11, no one just came in the store and put them there without being seen, its done on the inside, its common sense, I walk in the door and this guy is on my heels, he's probably the one that's stealing, to take the heat off of you why not blame someone else, and I see its working, while they were following me someone was robbing you blind, and the so-called security guard standing there with his hands in his pockets doing nothing, you have people working at your stores that come from other countries where they don't have anything, all they know is to steal, that's who you have working for you, I work hard for my money and I won't be giving it to home depot any longer, I also will be letting other black professionals know what's been going on so they won't waste their money in a place that don't respect them. I don't have this problem at Lowes, I would give 0 stars if I could!
BE AWARE. I have had 3 items in the past 60 days show higher pricing at checkout than indicated on shelf or on website. How many of us actually check the receipt. I now verify every item.
Do not order anything from Home Depot. I ordered a 4 ton minisplit for 5500 bucks they keep changing the dates of delivery, lie to me when I call them. Do not call back like they say they will, and will still not tel me a possible delivery date or where the unit is. Buyer beware.
I often shopped at Home Depot stores or online for myself and my parents. The mistakes they have made thwarted me from patronizing.
I posted the short review moments ago thinking I was only allowed to write 100 words. Realizing that my assumption was wrong, I am now going to provide more detail so that people will know why I made the previous remarks. I will give only a few examples.
One time I ordered a set of washer-and-dryer. Home Depot delivered them to the house across the street from mine. I had to call Home Depot and went through a lot of hassle to get them redelivered.
Another time I ordered a quantity of marble for a bathroom. They were supposed to be delivered on a certain date. So I lined up the workmen to install the marble for the floor and walls. Home Depot did not deliver them that day. I went to customer service and confirmed another date. That was not an easy and smooth matter in itself. Home Depot did not deliver on the new date. I repeated the process and got a third date. This time they marble was delivered to the wrong address. Each time they made a mistake I not only lost time but lost money because the workmen charged me for wasting a day of their time each time I had to tell them that the materials did not arrive.
One other time was a GE washer/dryer combination. It arrived with factory defects and missing parts. I called them within a day. Their customer service representative gave me a great deal of hard time and defended their merchandise with her life. She said I had signed the receipt and admitted that the machine was in perfect condition. That really surprised and angered me because I had never signed any paper. Their delivery guys just dropped the machine in and took off quickly. They did not give me a chance to see if all the parts were included. This problem took me many phone calls and many visits to the store to talk with the person who took my order and the branch manager. It was a dreadful experience. After many back and forths dealing with Home Depot's people, they told me to contact GE. Why should I contact GE? I bought the machine from Home Depot.
There were too many incredible mistakes they made for me to enumerate.
In the past, if I needed any type of tool or hardware, I naturally went to my local Home Depot in Gainesville, Florida. So when our refrigerator went out last Friday, I went on the internet to search for reviews on refrigerators and picked our favorite refrigerator. We then went to our Home Depot to purchase the one we picked out. We went straight to the appliance department and saw the one we wanted (with no help). We then went to the salesperson and waited about 5 minutes for her to finish talking to a fellow co-worker and told her we wanted to purchase a refrigerator. She finally got out of her chair to go get the tag off the one we chose. When she came back to her desk, I asked when could it be delivered? She looked it up on the computer and said "May 27" (23 days later) I asked nothing sooner? She said no and something about the warehouse. I looked at my wife sitting next to me trying to think about what to do. The sales lady started dancing in her chair, waving her hands and arms back and forth while wiggling her butt and the chair (check your video) and she asked "do you want it or not? I looked at my wife and said let's go to Lowes just down the road! This is where I want to THANK YOU and your saleslady. We went to Lowes and went to the appliance department where we were greeted by a very polite salesman and was asked if he could help us. We told him what we wanted and he led us to exactly what we wanted. A asked when could it be delivered, he said tomorrow (Saturday). I said great! Not only did we purchase the $2000 refrigerator, we applied for a Lowes credit card and from now on will do all our shopping at our local Lowes. THANKS!
We needed a custom made (can't be bought in stores) butcher block for our new island. Ordered from Home Depot. 2 months later we reach out to them to find it as it was supposed to be delivered April 22. They apparently use a shipping company, which was never told to us…. And Home Depot lost the order after repeatedly telling us it was with the shipper. This is also the same problem a family member ran into. I'll be shopping at Lowe's from here on out.
Home Depot's delivery service is an absolute disaster. Not only did my order arrive late, but the delivery driver left it out in the pouring rain, resulting in damaged goods. Customer service was unhelpful and dismissive, refusing to take responsibility for the mishap. If you value your time and money, shop elsewhere.
I used Home Depot to put In my hurricane windows and doors. It took them over six months to put them in then when they finally got put in ins came and they never came back to finish and they never showed us how to lock our front door as it's a new security lock. They absolutely suck! Plus the lock keeps getting stuck so it doesn't work properly. I've called and called and they keep saying they'll send someone out. Wait for their call and nobody has come. It's been almost a month now..
Answer: Hi Betty, you can also return without receipt if you purchased using your credit card. Give them the same CC and they can tell the price you bought at.
