Also, trying to book a car for a pickup after 8pm was only possible for more expensive deals. As the office does not close until 22.00hrs I dont understand why it would not accept a booking

Booking is clear and easy. I greatly appreciate the zero excess option. Cancelation is not so clear and easy. I tried to phone and got no answer. I was charged more than I agreed. When I was refunded I was refunded less than I paid. I no longer trust this company. I will not be using them again.

Low class rental company. I was charged significantly more than what was on the confirmation email from Priceline, gas was supposed to be full but the tank took 4.5 gallons at a gas station within 1 mile of pick up, staff was incompetent and rude, and it took over 35 minutes to get the car once I was at their office. Pay a little extra elsewhere and get lots more.

I had the misfortune of using Green Motion, Manchester airport this May. I felt uneasy from the moment I arrived at the reception desk. Not the car I requested, had not been valeted and had issues once I had left the car park. I have now been charged £210 for a scratch on a rear wheel rim. This was not caused by me as the car never left the driveway until I returned to the airport. My only error was not taking photos before I left. To say I am outraged is an understatement, this company pray on the vulnerable of which I include myself. If I have to use a word I would say scammers. Keep well away.

When I turned up office was closed, eventually someone came to serve me, but then they refused to hire me a car because I had 3 points on my licence. (33mph in a 30zone)
I rent cars on a weekly basis and have never encountered this before.
They said it was in one of the pages of their Terms and Conditions, and as I had accepted them and paid in full they will not refund me any money!
If Green motion cannot rent cars to customers with any points on their licence, this should be in large bold writing at the top of the rental, before the point of sale, not hidden in the terms and conditions.
I had pre-registered all of my details with the company 24hours before hand, including my DVLA check code. I was never made aware there was a problem.
After my flight landed I arrived at the "closed" office, they finally opened up and then refused me a rental. At this point it is 9pm at night, and I'm a woman travelling alone night 200miles from home, they just shut the door!
I had no option to spend hundreds more £££ on a Taxi.
Its surprising that a company this size can behave so unethically and hide behind their terms and conditions, supply you with nothing, and keep 100% of your money leaving you stranded!

I hired two times in a 2 week period, pickup from aiport was good, checkin was fine but as in other car hire places because of a journey conclusion it appears slow. I had a really bad experiance in Greenmotion Stanstead a few years ago, but Manchester did display these bad practices.
Riz was a pleasant and patient checkin guy, as was the lady who checked the cars back in, checking back in is very fast indeed especially if you take out their insurance package.

We ordered and paid a deposit of 154 quid to Economy Car Rentals. Before we arrived at the Edinburgh rental place I asked if there could be problems. No problems was the answer.
On turning up it appeared to be called Green Motion Car Rentals and Economy Car Rentals is just an agency.
I had left my credit card with my daughter to pay for our 50th wedding anniversary. Green Motion Car Rentals refused to accept my wife's Citibank card which is the same card, same account, same everything.
They charged us 1414 pounds extra which did include full insurance.
The car was a Toyota Yaris Hybrid and was excellent.
I'd love to know if Green Motion have anything to do with Economy Car Rentals but I will be very very careful in future that I take the same credit card for hotel or other bookings as this is a scam which could (and did in our case) have expensive consequences.

The ride from the airport to the rental place was quick, the office was busy so there was quite a wait, but the car was new and functioned well. There was some confusion on where to return the car at the Holiday Inn, otherwise a great experience.

Answer: DON'T do it. They advertise low and sting you at the counter! Clerks hard sell additional insurance (they get a commission). In Glasgow, Scotland this last August, they tried to get me to pay $800 in insurance to cover a ten day rental that was about $35 a day! Many people have posted about scams where they charged unsuspecting customers for "damages" that were already on the car but the customer may not notice, like a tiny chip in the windshield or a small scratch on the door edge.
Answer: Speeding/parking tickets and police action are slow. They keep the deposit until they are sure there will be no problems with any of those costs. (and yeah, would be speeding fine + massive green motion fee).

I can confirm that security deposits are automatically released by Green Motion on the last day of your rental after it has been established that the rental vehicle has been returned in the same condition as it was provided, and there are no further outstanding charges. Whilst in most cases this is available again within 10 working days, unfortunately, this can take up to 30 days depending on the bank that you use. We suggest that you contact your bank as they may be able to speed this process up for you. Green Motion's policy is to use pre-authorised transactions for our security deposits, which ring-fence the amount within your account, not charge it. This pre-authorised transaction will allow us to make charges if necessary at the end of the rental, but unless this occurs no money will leave your account. Due to the nature of this transaction, the release of these funds may not show on your bank statement as a separate transaction. If you believe that you have been charged your security deposit, please contact your bank and ask them to provide proof of the transaction as a charge on the first day of your rental so that we can look further into this for you. If this amount is still not available in your account after 30 days from the last day of your rental, please contact us at [email protected]. Answer: I believe Green Motion are a perfectly fair and respectful company. I suspect you didn't read their Ts&Cs properly. The two customers being served while I was collecting my car had also not read/understood the conditions and were caught by surprise. The representative dealt with them firmly but fairly.
