The online rental booking from Canada and subsequent collecting and returning the vehicle to Cape Town International airport was easy enough but the significant deposit has NOT been returned after 24 business days. They claim there is a ringed amount which is not deducted but my Amex credit company has assured me that the amount was deducted. They suggest calling your credit company but it does not expedite the return and the company is only used if there is a dispute which is triggered after 30 days anyway. I have sent 3 emails about this but get the answers as above.

I can confirm that security deposits are automatically released by Green Motion on the last day of your rental after it has been established that the rental vehicle has been returned in the same condition as it was provided, and there are no further outstanding charges.
Please visit https://greenmotion.com/terms and select the country you rented from to see the deposit information which will advise the general timeframe that you can expect for the release of the deposit.
Whilst in most cases this is available again within 10 working days, unfortunately, this can take up to 30 days depending on the bank that you use. We suggest that you contact your bank as they may be able to speed this process up for you.
If this amount is still not available in your account after 30 days from the last day of your rental, please contact us at [email protected].

I have rented from Greenmotion Manchester Airport 4 times since February. Every time was well looked after and given a good car quickly and efficiently. They are just off the airport, but there's a frequent pick up and the price seems to be a little more than half what you pay in car hire centre at the airport. (You need a pick up there any way) A thank you to Ritz who dealt with me on two pick ups and two returns.

Good experience with pick-up and drop-off process. A little bit confusing beginning of the process (we've spent 15 minutes in search of the company's rep in the airport building; maybe GPS coordinates would helped us.

Office is out of terminal. Even out of airport after fences. Very old car, 100.000 Km., weird noises even drive 60-70 km.

Alles war wie beschrieben. Der Fußweg zum Abholort war 5 Minuten, der Fahrer war gleichzeitig mit uns dort (nach zuvor erfolgtem Anruf). Der Mietwagen war sauber, wir mussten nicht warten. Gleiches bei der Abgabe. Man hat auch nicht versucht uns etwas aufzuschwätzen. Wollte Bob dem Shuttlebus Fahrer ein Trinkgeld geben, das wollte er nicht mal nehmen, eine gute Bewertung sei wichtiger. Sehr gern wieder Greenmotion Liverpool airport.

Answer: DON'T do it. They advertise low and sting you at the counter! Clerks hard sell additional insurance (they get a commission). In Glasgow, Scotland this last August, they tried to get me to pay $800 in insurance to cover a ten day rental that was about $35 a day! Many people have posted about scams where they charged unsuspecting customers for "damages" that were already on the car but the customer may not notice, like a tiny chip in the windshield or a small scratch on the door edge.
Answer: Speeding/parking tickets and police action are slow. They keep the deposit until they are sure there will be no problems with any of those costs. (and yeah, would be speeding fine + massive green motion fee).

If you believe that you have been charged your security deposit, please contact your bank and ask them to provide proof of the transaction as a charge on the first day of your rental so that we can look further into this for you. Answer: I believe Green Motion are a perfectly fair and respectful company. I suspect you didn't read their Ts&Cs properly. The two customers being served while I was collecting my car had also not read/understood the conditions and were caught by surprise. The representative dealt with them firmly but fairly.
