I would give 5 stars if it not for the fact that we had to walk back to the airport when we returned the car because the shuttle service wasn't working. We were told to be at the station at 8am to go with the very first shuttle. We arrived a few minutes earlier than that even and were told that the driver would only be there at 8:30 am. Which woud not be possible for us to wait because of our flight. Everthing else was perfect and everyone was more that nice to us.

The lack of a physical plastic card (in this day and age) cost me an additional £180 pounds to my £109 car hire. I will never use this company again. They were not prepared to be flexible to take credit card payment despite all the details that were available. The excuse was they had to put the card in the machine... telephone bookings do not put cards in machines. Pathetic, and left with a feeling of being conned. Additionally, I never got the car that was described. I ended up with a car with smaller capacity for seating and luggage than the one that was described in the booking. As I had only two passengers (not 5 as described in car hire). I had to fold down the rear seats to fit in the "two" (not three as described) pieces of luggage. A shambles of an experience.

A previous scratch that was on the damage report which I have documented has been charged to my account. I am waiting for my money to be reimbursed to my account.

Answer: DON'T do it. They advertise low and sting you at the counter! Clerks hard sell additional insurance (they get a commission). In Glasgow, Scotland this last August, they tried to get me to pay $800 in insurance to cover a ten day rental that was about $35 a day! Many people have posted about scams where they charged unsuspecting customers for "damages" that were already on the car but the customer may not notice, like a tiny chip in the windshield or a small scratch on the door edge.
Answer: Speeding/parking tickets and police action are slow. They keep the deposit until they are sure there will be no problems with any of those costs. (and yeah, would be speeding fine + massive green motion fee).

I can confirm that security deposits are automatically released by Green Motion on the last day of your rental after it has been established that the rental vehicle has been returned in the same condition as it was provided, and there are no further outstanding charges. Whilst in most cases this is available again within 10 working days, unfortunately, this can take up to 30 days depending on the bank that you use. We suggest that you contact your bank as they may be able to speed this process up for you. Green Motion's policy is to use pre-authorised transactions for our security deposits, which ring-fence the amount within your account, not charge it. This pre-authorised transaction will allow us to make charges if necessary at the end of the rental, but unless this occurs no money will leave your account. Due to the nature of this transaction, the release of these funds may not show on your bank statement as a separate transaction. If you believe that you have been charged your security deposit, please contact your bank and ask them to provide proof of the transaction as a charge on the first day of your rental so that we can look further into this for you. If this amount is still not available in your account after 30 days from the last day of your rental, please contact us at [email protected]. Answer: I believe Green Motion are a perfectly fair and respectful company. I suspect you didn't read their Ts&Cs properly. The two customers being served while I was collecting my car had also not read/understood the conditions and were caught by surprise. The representative dealt with them firmly but fairly.
