I have ordered a couple of things and have not been disappointed.
I just had a very positive experience with gilt.com. I had ordered two twin bedding sets, but only one arrived. Customer service was quick to understand that I had two twin beds to outfit and just one set would not work, so they sent me a return mailing label, reversed my credit card charge AND gave me store credit for the inconvenience. Be polite to the customer service reps and they will be more than fair to you.
I've been a Gilt member for 2 years and love this website. They have the best deals on quality products, and have most professional and courteous customer service. They also have excellent turn around time on shipping and I usually get my items within 2-3 business days probably because their warehouse is located in NY. This is by far the best online shopping website in all aspects and I would strongly recommend this website in heartbeat.
I love gilt. Don't believe the bad reviews - you can't have as many people on their site as they do and have just everyone love it. They are high end, stylish and beautiful.
Horrible customer service! They are extremely rude over the phone! One time I received a package from Gilt, and the contents of the package were destroyed because they were not properly packed! I called Gilt, and they promised me a credit – never received it. Items that they sell never fit well – they look completely different on pictures. The only acceptable item that I purchased from Gilt was a male's sport jacket.
How many emails can one company send me! Fine, I bought a dress. I liked the dress. Too big. Returned the dress. Weeks later, I have not yet received a credit. I sent an email. No response. Too many emails, no CS, no returns = not doing that again. I think they should feel "guilty."
There are some good deals on this site but it takes FOREVER to get the stuff. I havent waited 5 weeks to receive an mail order package since sending cereal box tops in for prizes.
And the return policy is pretty jank as well. Half the stuff isnt even returnable. And none of the stuff is refundable. Read closeley.
Their customer service sucks too. You write them a letter asking where the item you forgot you ordered a month ago is and they take a week to reply.
This site has potential. They need to focus on the little things though. Take some pointers from Zappos!
My friends love this site because of the deals. Beware, they will spam you on a daily basis, but the email newsletters do contain some great stuff. Each sale only lasts for 36 hours and they are really serious about that time limit, so if you want something, you have to buy it pretty much exactly when you get the email. The good deals sell out fast too... and sometimes I wonder if the deals are too good to be true because when I try to order something, it often says the deal has already sold out.
The $25 dollar referral fee to get your friends to join is how I think this website spread so fast, I got 8 friends to join and then got a free purse :)
They have steep discounts on major brand names and this is my new favorite site as the older ones like blue fly just don't often carry this level of discounts on designer clothing and jewelry. The one bad thing about this site is the return policy. You CANNOT RETURN ANYTHING. You can get store credit for clothing that is returned, but you can't get your money back. I bought a Gucci outfit and it didn't fit, so I had to wait to return it, and then wait even longer for them to issue me store credit... and THEN I had to wait to find something I liked more. Still I had to pay shipping and handling on the new items as well. In the end, the discounts you get on the clothing and the selection is worth this hassle, but I wish they would give you money back for returns.

Answer: DO NOT purchase from Gilt! They state they "stand behind the authenticity" of their products. THEY DO NOT! I paid $975.96 for a LV handbag. Later, (after the 30 day refund policy) it started falling apart. Found out it was a fake. Gilt will not exchange or do anything to correct this. It's horrible customer service.
