I used to buy a lot from here, but lately it has gone waaaay downhill. They just lost me as a customer (after having spent $1000's) over $5 and two really bad experiences. One was a bad product, the other was bad customer service, which was a first for them. They used to have great service and good prices. Now, prices are much lower elsewhere and they don't care about your business.

I am very disappointed with Gilt. They used to have decent prices, but now I notice that their prices are often higher than Amazon for the same item. However, the worst part is their shipping. It takes FOREVER (up to and beyond a month) to receive most merchandise from Gilt, and yet they charge you top dollar for shipping. I won't buy anything at this site again.

Had an item in my cart for less then 5 minutes. Since i haven't shopped there in a while, in the time it took for me to update my credit card info and address, when i went to check out i was informed my item was sold out. Right out of the cart, with no notice! So i had emailed them about it and NOTHING. Not even a "thank you for your email we will get back to you! Moreover, they had sent me several emails saying the item is still in your cart, check out now, followed by, the item you had wanted now became available... These guys are taunting jerks. Plenty of other sites to shop with, these guys are the worst!

Best place for shopping high end designer items. Tell me where you can find a Hickey Freeman suit for $500? Canali anyone? These are clothes that lasts forever. I do agree on complaints regarding their return policy and not receiving correct items. One time they sent me a women's cashmere sweater instead of a Tie that I ordered. I called them and they immediately credited my account back then reserved my tie in my cart while sending me a paid return label for me to send it back. I'm happy with them and can't wait til order my new W Hotel mattress and save save save!

With their new "return for gilt credit if the item is under $200" policy, I'm already turned off... but even worse is that even if a returned item is received and credited BEFORE a new item is shipped, they won't use the credit. The credit has to be in the system before one orders. It's not legal to charge for an item until it is shipped, but they can't use a credit that is received before charging and shipping a new item? Gilt is now less user friendly than a department store.

As a moderate-range shopper, I periodically find deals here (Riller and Fount, Ella Moss, Hunter boots). I'm deducting one star because you really need to know your stuff - prices aren't always the cheapest here. Shipping costs are not great, but it is what it is... (buy another item within the hour and there is no additional shipping - they also have offered free shipping on mobile devices) I recently received a glass item that was broken. I called customer service & they credited my Visa immediately.

The worst online shopping experience on earth. They did some kind of restaurant coupon that I bought. Not only was I not able to redeem it (the restaurant said Gilt had messed up their coupon codes; random ones were working and others weren't) but when I went back to Gilt they basically told me to go back to the restaurant and try it again! When I asked them what backup plan was there to prevent me from wasting a trip they basically said none; and then to make it even worse they said their records show that the coupon had been redeemed (I haven't been back!). Everyone makes mistakes but what is inexcusable is to not step up to the plate and make amends when you've ****ed up. Hate 'em!

I received a pair of earrings as a Christmas gift, and although taste is subjective, they were the absolute cheapest looking, tackiest, and cheaply made earrings ever! When I tried to find them on the website, I was unable to, but contacted customer service and they sent me the return form. When I clicked on the link, THEY WEREN'T THE EARRINGS I HAD RECEIVED! And the print out of the picture said that the returned item must match the picture! Now what? I've contacted Customer Service, so far; nothing. I could have been a new Client, but now? Not..

So annoying! They guaranteed a gift by Christmas and they also guarantee a 24 response policy to customer service emails. When I placed an order a week and a half before Christmas, I did so expecting to have no issues with the delivery, given it was guaranteed by 12/24. However the package did not arrive by 12/24, which I knew would happen when on 12/20 the tracking information said it would arrive by 12/27. I contacted Gilt, and after 48 hours still didn't hear from them, so had to contact them again. And they finally responded saying no, it should get there by 12/24.12/24 came and went with no package delivery, so I contacted Gilt again. They agreed to refund my nominal shipping fee but never once apologized or offered any explanation as to why I didn't receive my package as promised. Don't use Gilt! Their deals are not worth the tremendous headache and poor customer service.

I bought one item from them and it looked like it was used. I emailed Gilt and never heard back from them. I would pass on this site - here's my email to Gilt

"Order ID: Garlic Rocker
This was my first order placed through Gilt.
Sadly, the product package was previously opened and it looks like the item was a return. It's unfortunate, since I believed that items sold through your site were brand new and not returned or used items."

There can be some great discounts on amazing brands, but you need to know the quality of the merchant before hand, as they can discount lower end Americal Apparel things (which look great on the models, but the fabric and make is quite cheap), or higher end vintage Hermes bags. They also carry lesser known contemporary designers. The customer service is exceptional in my experience. I had ordered a pair of boots from the site, and they recommended ordering a size up since they thought the style ran a bit small, but that wasn't true for me. Since I live in Canada the return policy was FINAL SALE, but I decided to send an e-mail as it couldn't hurt. And within 1 business day, they started the return, sent me shipping labels to be printed (paid for), and added the smaller size shoe to my cart for 3 days, even though the sale was over. The initial shipment was paid for on a Sunday, packaged, sent out, and received by Canadian Customs on the Wednesday and arrived to my door on a Friday. I received everything within a week, and the packaging was simple and nice. I will definitely do business with them again. They also take care of the customs for you, which is nice.

They are the biggest liars I have ever dealt with. They sent the incorrect item and have broken every promise to resolve the issue. It's been 6 weeks and I still haven't received the right item and they won't credit my account. How hard is it to send me the correct lamp? Week 1: Gilt asked me to send a pic to verify. Week 2: I didn't hear from them for a wk, so I followed up at which pt they said they were waiting for the pic. I sent it to them again. Week 3: I didn't hear from them for another week, so I followed up again. They said they were working on a resolution (again, what takes so long to send me the right item?). So I asked for credit back and details on how to return the item. They responded with "we are working on a resolution." Week 4: I emailed them another week later, at which point they blamed Sandy for the delay. What kind of co blames a natural disaster after they'd already had 4 weeks to resolve what I think is a simple issue (my family lives in Zone A, so in no way am I being heartless about this. I think Gilt is a horrible co for using Sandy as a scapegoat). Week 5: They promised to have the replacement lamp to me by 11/7/12. Week 6: It's 11/15/12 and no lamp, no credit to my account, and no response from Gilt. They are a HORRIBLE company.

I've ordered several things from them over the years and I've found shipping to be fast and everything to be as described. Unlike some of the other "member" shopping sites, I've always received what I actually ordered (not told after the fact that it's not in stock) I highly recommend.

Great site; amazingly discounted prices on designer apparel, shoes, accessories, home goods and just about everything else. Always ships on time; easy returns. We would recommend Gilt to everyone.

I think many of the negative issues that shoppers might have with sites such as Gilt is that they do not read the website and terms before they make a purchase.

We have never had a problem with Gilt and we love shopping there!

I bought a Rachel Reinhardt necklace--pink Jade and 14k gold. I paid 5.95 shipping for the approx $70 purchase. I was hoping for high quality shipping, what I ended up with was my necklace wrapped in a plastic bag, loosely contained in an oversized shipping box. As soon as I picked up the package I heard the necklace freely moving around in the box. If they can't even take the care to ship this delicate product to me safely, why would I bother buying from them again? You're item isnt safe. MyHabit and Hautelook does a better job.

I am in love with Gilt. I have never had a problem with a return, but then, I don't have a problem with receiving store credit from this site.

However, I have purchased a few non-refundable items and changed my mind... but that's my fault. As I always say about flash sale sites, think long and hard before you hit that purchase button. Also, if you only have a few weeks to return it, get on it. I missed a return period once, but ended up giving the item to my dad's neighbor's granddaughter, so it ended well.

I had one issue where I bought a Right Bank Babies (Left Bank Babies? I love both brands) reversible sundress that was listed as a 12. I bought it, thinking it would fit my five-year-old daughter in a few years. It ended up being a 12 MONTH dress.

It was a non-refundable item, but I contacted Gilt anyway. They were willing to accept it, but I decided to keep it as a gift for a girlfriend who had a baby girl several months later. But the fact that Gilt was going to take it back for me means a lot.

I've purchased many different items from Gilt, from purses, clothing, children's books, toys, jewelry... all of it has been top of the line, high quality items, even if they're a season behind or whatnot. I live in the DC area - nobody cares. Marco Bicego ring for $500? I'm there! Kate Spade bag for under $200? Score!

Ordered a pair of Hunter rain boots from them, when I opened the box, both of the boots have serious scratch markings on multiple places. From the look of the markings it is obvious that they are not caused during mailing, but more like defects. Totally disappointed. Now I have to talk to gilt.com and try to have them take the boots back for full credit. Would not trust them again.

Unfortunately, my first gilt order did not turn out as I had hoped. I was shipped an item that was similar to the item I purchased, but not the same. I received a mysterious phone call from GILT the day after I made the purchase. Only thing that I can figure is that they were calling to see if they could substitute the item. Anyway, they said that they would offer me a $30 gilt credit or facilitate a return, so at least they are trying to fix the issue. Plus, I do not believe that the item is a knock off.

THEY ALSO, AROUND THE SAME TIME, LOWERED THEIR SHIPPING TO ABOUT THE LOWEST OF THE MAJORS: $5.95. WHEN RETURNING YOU HAVE YOUR CHOICE; RETURN FOR STORE CREDIT AND RETURN SHIPPING IS FREE OR A REFUND WILL COST YOU $7.95 RETURN SHIPPING. Since I reveiwed My Habit and Haute Look I'll review Gilt too... there's not much to complain about with them. Their customer service is top notch. I receive my items in a very timely manner. When I do have to return something it's so easy and you have options of either receiving a credit to be used on a future item(s) or getting your $$ back (don't really like that they deduct a fee for the latter but eh, whatever). They're still my fave.
