The WORST. First, I ordered a dress that was totally irregular--the seams were all puckery and poochy. It looked like a home economics experiment. When I returned said tragic piece of trash, I was not refunded, but given a GILT "credit," meaning GILT would hang onto my money while I desperately tried to find some other garbage that was slightly less offensive. When I finally did find something (that I later saw at Nord's rack for half the GILT price), they sent it the WRONG ADDRESS. When I complained that I never received my merchandise, they told me to call the concierge at the other apartment building to see if I could figure something out. Hands down, the WORST shopping experience of my life.
I can't wait for these morons to go out of business.
My experiences with the site were great after it launched. The buzz was high, the products were top-end, and the deals were really mindblowing.
Nowadays, the buzz has wornoff, the products are getting repetitive, and the deals are just adequate. Nothing unexpected, but considering the return policy (or lack of), I'm not confident that the site is worth your time.
I have ordered several times from the site. My experience was really good! Prices are surprisingly low. Swift shipping. Items were exactly as described. Thanks a lot! I will come back for purchasing.
I bought from Gilt a couple of times in January. It's alright... it's really popular so you can't take your time to decide, and they only give you 10 minutes once something is in your cart. Popular brands get sold out really quickly, and shipping is also slooow. But I've never had any real problems with it that would make me have to go through customer service.
So i've been a loyal Gilt customer until now. Ordered yohji yamamoto dress which had a retail value >$3,000 as per Gilt.com website. Once i received this item I noted the retail price tag of 50% less from what Gilt.com stated, so I could have gotten a MUCH better deal if I would have purchased this dress from the actual boutique during its sale. Now i am questioning almost each of my single purchase with Gilt. Do we really get a massive discount or it is all made up by the website?!... Now i will be very careful with buying anything on Gilt.com. In addition, I used once Gilt for Bon Jovi tix, AND ended up sitting next to a couple who bought their tix of the regular website for the price 40% less of what we paid for Gilt's "special offer" (so even with the discount, we really did not get a great deal as we realized)... So I am thinking if a buyer is comfortable with paying a certain amount of money while shopping on Gilt.com, that is a win win situation for all, unless a buyer is looking for a great deal, than I would never recommend using Gilt.com (especially after such a misleading information in regards to the real retail prices). Gilt has a totally costumer unfriendly return policy. Only Shoes and Clothes are returnable and only for store credit. On top of that shipping costs are unbelievably high. Be aware, what seems to be a good deal at first glance can turn out to be a cost and hassle nightmare. Sorrz, this was the last time I was shopping at Gilt group!
I the skilled buyer. Also met different bad stories buying the goods worldwide. But Gilt a even me surprise-has sent to me the present pig! I have made the order for 600 doll-it there were 6 steams, footwear "Alberta Ferreti" - a discount of 80 %! But as I have been surprised when its receive-from 6 steams of 2 steams of other color, and one steam "killed" - appearance has been completely spoiled, Metal parts had oxidation traces! This footwear wouldn't want to dress and the homeless! As from the moment of purchase has passed more than 21 days, there is no possibility to make return, and I live in Russia-for me it is equivalent to throw out footwear in a window. I want all to warn-be are careful-you can to deceive! In America many fine shops with good service-not allow to send you the Pig! If who that will become interested th I will send a photo of that pair footwear! I don't do advertizing by another-is simple I do not love when the shop behaves piggishly!
I have been a member of gilt for a number of years. The last 6 months have been bad. I have had damaged goods sent to me where it took months to sort out (high end). It is also not a level playing field. As one person commented it show as a "first come first serve", but they will even admit that is not turn. There is a glitch in the system that allows someone with computer savy to keep things in there for extremely long periods of time( basically have it tyed up until they have called all of their clicents to make a sell). Recently they had had problems with their check-out so if you attempted to purchase an item it would not go through saying "Their are tech. Difficulties".
Also alot of other sites are cheaper. Last week Ruelala had a sale on Carlos Falchi & this week gilt had their sale. Things were hundred of dollars more for exact items on gilt.
SHOPPER BEWARE!
I ordered a Rebecca Minkoff purse for my daughter for Christmas. Great shipping and packaging but the purse is not quality. Are designers selling products of lesser quality on the site? I have a RM purse I bought in NYC and there is a huge difference in the quality of the leather and lining. I feel a bit ripped off, I would never have paid 299.00 for this purse.
Gilt has a somewhat restrictive return policy in that returns are only allowed for 21 days and then only for store credit. However, there customer service is great and I returned something months after receiving it and they still accepted it for a full refund. I'm guessing they saw that I was a good customer and wasn't returning a bunch of stuff and decided to give me a break (YMMV).
The prices are great for the quality of stuff. They email daily about deals, which can be a bit tiresome, but I'd bet dollars to donuts that those emails can be toned down through some time of user prefs... I've just never bothered because the emails don't really bother me.
Also checkout jetsetter.com, a luxury travel site that is part of the gilt groupe.
Nothing but good experiences with Gilt! I have been a member for over a year and have purchased many items through them. Shipping can be slow, but anytime I have contacted them about an order I haven't had any issues. Love their selection at affordable prices!
Even though things aren't exactly cheap, they are incredible deals. Just be sure to act fast or you'll be left with nothing but a 'Sold Out' sign. Check out their spin-off sites too, like JetSetter and GiltCity.
I was just recently introduced to this website and already I am in love. I made my first purchase late last week. After reading some horror story reviews on similar sites, I was not expecting to receive my order for at least a week or two and fully prepared for some terrible problem to occur with it. I received my package today, not even a week after I placed the order AND the pants I bought are absolutely fantastic! I saved almost $200, got exactly what I ordered, and in record time. I am now stalking the site for my next purchase. VERY IMPRESSED!
I recently ordered a toy stroller from gilt.com for my toddler. Their sales are advertised as being available on a first-come first-served basis, and items are available until they sell out. I logged on as soon as the sale went live, made my purchase shortly thereafter and received an email confirming my order. Over the next few days, I checked back and the toy stroller was still available -- it did not sell out as other items did. This order was placed just before Labor Day weekend. This weekend, I contacted Gilt.com to find out the status of my order and was informed that it would be shipped shortly. Today, I received an email from the company saying that due to an inventory error my order would not be fulfilled. Given that my order was placed within the first hour of the sale going life, I feel that it is egregious that my order was not one of the first one filled before they ran out. I feel that they clearly position their sales as being on an as-available basis and that by fulfilling other orders before they sent out mine they are falsely advertising their services. Other consumers should be aware that this company does not stand by their positioning and cannot be trusted. This is particularly upsetting because this was an item I was buying for my child, and I passed by opportunities to buy very similar items on sale because I had already ordered it from Gilt.com. Were the situation reversed and I had tried to cancel my order I am certain that Gilt.com would not have given me a break.
Beware of their return policy, it is terrible. All their jewelry items are final sale, meaning, you can't even get credit, they simply won't take it back, period. This is a crazy policy because guess what, jewelry have to fit correctly too, esp. Bracelets/cuffs. Their shipping charges are also very high, so customers beware.
We ge only brand and quality products. Am always looking the quality of product not money. I like this site
I absolutely heart Gilt, and I am one picky and seasoned shopper. I have probably bought 10-12 items from them over the last few months. They have some good deals on a variety of items, and shopping and return is a breeze. Understandably some of the items (final sales, lingerie, etc) are non returnable, and the ones that can be returned get you a store credit but not a cash refund. The discounts are not as steep as HauteLook, but thats probably because these guys actually have customer service and inventory departments who are actually doing their jobs! Nothing but love for Gilt!
The "deals" on this site are no better than you'd find at Century 21 or even Loehmann's. And at those places, you don't have 2 pay for shipping, then wait 3 weeks for your stuff to get to you. Plus, you can return anything you don't like. Gilt clearly built a business on really agressive marketing... But the shopping experience kinda sucks... So not worth the hassle!
This is a fun site. It seems that there are great deals to be had. But I ordered an oriental style rug described as 100% wool. When it arrived it was almost threadbare, of poor quality and non-returnable. Won't do that again.
They messed up my order and have refused to answer the 3 emails I have sent them. Never shopping there again

Answer: DO NOT purchase from Gilt! They state they "stand behind the authenticity" of their products. THEY DO NOT! I paid $975.96 for a LV handbag. Later, (after the 30 day refund policy) it started falling apart. Found out it was a fake. Gilt will not exchange or do anything to correct this. It's horrible customer service.
