Booked a room with Holiday Inn Express.
Which was booked by Priceline.
Which was booked by Get a Room
Which was booked by Guest Reservations.
I was charged a extra hidden £28 for a £35 advertised room.
These guys are not legitimate... They clone sites, and trick you by putting up the hotel site fronts... vThey charge you more than the hotel, and hit your card immediately... If you call them to cancel they hang up... Do yourself a favor and call your credit card company and report fraud. ****THIS IS NOT A LEGITIMATE BUSINESS********
Booking process worked great. Have yet to fulfill reservation, assume all will go well. Will share when have stayed.
Like others here, when I booked my hotel, it looked like I was on the hotel's site. I was surprised when I saw how high the "taxes and fees" were. After digging into the Terms and Conditions that I said I read, and reading the super fine print, you see where they can charge you these extra fees. They charged me an extra $40 for a one night stay. If I booked with the hotel, it would have been $183 but with Getaroom, which I didn't realize I was using, it was $223. Not a good feeling to learn that. Not a trustworthy company.
Here's the "but"...
Customer service at getaroom.com was right on top of things when I posted my disappointment. They were very nice and resolved my concern. Very easy to work with. So I'm upgrading original 1 star to a 4 star.
Relaxing paradise short drive from O town. Food, beaches are wonderful. Condo was nice size, up to date. Lovely decor
When I booked my hotel room they switched hotels without my knowledge or approval. Even after I called the switched hotel, showed them the screen shot of the hotel confirmation of the correct hotel and got their approval to cancel GETAROOM still would not refund. Under no circumstances should anyone ever use this wesite
Rates where as high or higher than other websites and when nearly 44% is added for "tax recovery charges and service fees", it is certainly not the best value as quoted in their website. The extra charges were visible by the family member booking the room, but charges like these are way out of line. A call to their customer service ended up with a small refund.
My wife booked a room with Holiday Inn Express Canterbury (calling the telephone number: ******* 865 000) on 10/05/2019 for a one nights stay on 08/06/2019. She received a confirmation of the booking that day from getaroom.com for the amount of $205.61.
This booking was subsequently cancelled on 05/06/2019 because it was no longer required. Confirmation of this cancellation was received on 05/06/2019 from Holiday Inn Express Canterbury but we have still not received any refund!
She then rang Holiday Inn Express Canterbury chasing the refund and was told that the booking was made through getaroom.com even though she had rang Holiday Inn Express Canterbury!
Question, if my wife booked directly with Holiday Inn Express Canterbury, why should the refund be coming from getaroom.com?
Once again, I ask, where does getaroom.com fit in with my wife's booking?
My wife made the booking directly with Holiday Inn Express Canterbury so I feel that you are liaible for the refund.
Please, please can we have our cash back!
A p'd off customer!

To confirm that this complaint has now been resolved. This was both reviewed and acknowledged by getaroom.com. Thankfully I was reimbursed with the full claim amount within days of initial acknowledgement. After the delays I must say that I was impressed with getaroom's swift resolution. Thanks again.
My spouse went online thought she was on Extended Stay America site but couldn't get our corporate letters in. Fearing I wouldn't get a room she booked. She called advised me I called and was advised the 3000. 00 invoice was non refundable. Thru correct website with corporate letters 1500. 00 I was told well give you 10% off. After going round and round I was told local hotel must call and notify them that it is ok to cancel so my card can be refunded. So tomorrow I'll call hotel to see if we can get the pending stopped. Ya know if they were doing the right thing at the right time and for the right reason they would have said we understand the mistake and we'll refund money with a processing of a hundred say and I would have been ok. Now I'm pissed.
They mirror Hilton website and charge extra fees which are unacceptable
I will block my credit card!
Terrible service, dishonest representation of cancellation policy. For a $ 224.00 room they added a 117$ service fee. I immediately called to have that canceled and they told me the hotel had a no cancellation policy. I called the hotel and they immediately canceled it while they said they did not have that policy at all. I tried to call getaroom and they still posted it to my account. I spent five or six phone calls and over an hour to resolve the situation. It was a brutal experience and I would never... ever... use these people again. TOTAL RIP-OFF
Just submitted this to their complaints board: My name is ***. On July 9,2019 I thought I Quality Inn's reservation service to make a reservation for Oct 21-24,2019 but I ended up with Getaroom.com (which I didn't find out until I received my email confirmation). My reservation number is ***. The representative who took my call advised that I was being given a rate of $350.55 for the 3 nights plus taxes. I was advised that this was a "guaranteed best rate with at least 15-25% discount". I was also told that to get that guaranteed best rate the room would be non-refundable. If I wanted a refundable rate I would have to pay more money. After I agreed to the non-refundable rate and provided my credit card info, I received an email stating that the taxes and "recovery charges and service fees" was $157.22 additional. After checking the actual hotel web site, I discovered that the taxes and fees totaled about 30% of what getaroom.com charged me. Getaroom.com charged nearly an additional 50% of the hotel rate instead of discounting it. I believe this is blatant deception and I that I should be refunded a significant portion of those fees.
I just got off the phone with the Quality Inn in Gatlinburg and was told that the total for my room was $329.13 including taxes and fees. That means that getaroom. Com charged me $178.64 more than the motel itself would have charged me if I had gone to them directly. I expect a refund of most of the extra charge!
I was able to get all my needs met but took several transfers to finish. I also had a bit of issue with figuring out exactly what was being said a couple of times - some due to not knowing how to pronounce the name of the city so I recognized what was being talked about. But all ended up completed as my needs were met.
I made this reservation on a website which I thought was Omni Hotel. After getting the confirmation I found I was charged $294.07 for taxes and service fees! I was shocked to see this! This was more than a one night stay. This is false representation of the hotel website. I am a senior citizen (not that it matters) and I feel like I was scammed! I've made several reservations online and this has never happen to me before. You should be ashamed of yourself and your company!
*Update* GetaRoom contacted me after this post. They did refund my reservation in full and I booked directly with the hotel, at $3 less per room rate and only ~$16 in taxes with just over 2 weeks notice (as opposed to 3+ months). I don't know what is going on with getaroom, but them or a marketing affiliate of theirs is clearly adding high fees ($40 per room in my case) and not making it obvious where you are getting the room from. Most bad reviews I saw had the same story as me: 1) Didn't realize they had landed on getaroom.com - thought they were on the hotel site 2) Had ridiculous service charge fees either well hidden or not shown at checkout 3) On paper gave up the chance at a cancelation - although they reversed that for me.
Insanely high fees & false cancelation policy statements
Insanely high fees. This site had a hotel RATE at $10 less than I found elsewhere, but when I went to checkout, they charge $56 for taxes and fees. I booked it directly from the hotel and taxes were only $16 a night (there are no fees direct). So if you want to "save" $10 on the rate, but then get charged $40 more for fees - this site is for you! I booked the room directly with the hotel for a net $35 less than this site.
The cancelation policy states that getaroom applies the same policy as the hotel you are booking: "Each room in this reservation is subject to the hotel's cancellation policy which is: This reservation is non-refundable." This is false. The hotel's cancelation policy is actually: "Cancel before 6PM day of arrival to avoid a 1 night charge plus applicable tax."
I was talking to a lady who had no idea what she was doing. She gave me three different rates, and a quote of 312.00 dollars for 2 nites lodging in harvey n. D. i cancelled this reservation, called the hotel directly and got a rate of $89.00 a nite for a total of $199.92. That is almost $120.00 cheaper. Willnever use you again
I was told it would be a 2 minute hold time. After 15 minutes i hung up and called back. I wanted to adjust my reservation by 1 day and they were not able to do that. They had to cancel my reservation and remake a new one. This took over 30 minutes in total
Booked a hotel in Miami Beach using getaroom. They have a simple to use website with clear pricing shown including taxes and extras payable.
Other than that everything was good. I was helped promptly and they worked with me when adding an extra day to my reservation.
I had to change a reservation. Not only were they nice, the found me a better rate for the days i swirched to.
Hi Matthew,
Thank you for the great feedback! So glad we could save you money!
Sincerely,
Getaroom
Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.
Answer: Call 800-468-3578 but good luck. They are scammers
Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
