Very long story short, we were fully charged as a no-show despite early room cancellation. In the resolution process we learned that we were allegedly double-booked at the hotel in question (which we most certainly didn't do), hence the "no-show" on getaroom's end. In hindsight, the explanation that makes the most sense is that this mess was the result of the actions of a suspect hotel employee. While we still think it's shady for Getaroom to mimic the direct sites of hotel chains, we no longer hold ill will for this company.
I suggest anyone trying to book a hotel room through this website to keep looking for the hotel's website they are trying to book. We paid $59.00 more dollars than the actual hotel site would have charged and tried to cancel while the charge was pending and their automated recording asked if we would like to cancel and we said yes...but it was still nonrefundable. Buyer beware. This is a misleading horrible way to do business and not the first time it happened in our business. I've instructed people over and over again not to fall for this but they make it look like you are on the hotel's website. Never use them or you are stuck! Last time we lost $1200.00 to them. Horrible company.

This site is a total rip off! They make their site to look like you are booking on the hotel website. My wife booked a room and immediately canceled after I told her that she booked on getaroom.com. We have called and called and we just keep getting put on forget (Hold). They always say less than 2 minutes. They refuse to issue a refund and hide behind their "policy". I would rate them a 0 if could. I called the hotel direct being we are diamond members of Hilton and they are investigating this company and their practices.

I had a five night stay in Zagreb, and called to modify to three days. They said to check with hotel, hotel said it was fine, not a problem to leave two days early. I have called, and been hung up on, not had my emails returned. The partner that they use to book with, is the issue, the hotel is very flexible. IT IS BETTER TO BOOK DIRECTLY WITH THE HOTEL AND NOT USE THIS VENDOR. I was hung up on 5 times yesterday and 3 times today. They keep saying to call back in 24 to 48 hours for a resolution but that is so the system hangs up on you. It recognizes your phone number from a reservation and then hangs up when you have an issue with a reservation. I think it is very dishonest, to keep dragging this out, and asking you if you got permission from the hotel, and saying it is the hotel's decision. The hotel tells you, it is up to them. But again, GETAROOM asks for who you spoke to in the hotel, and that you must put in writing to them that hotel agreed to refund. Well I have done that. Again, this is to create obstacles and not provide a refund. SHAMEFUL. DO NOT USE.

Absolute ripoff! Hotel room in Glasgow advertised at 89€ per night, entered my credit card details and was charged 143€ due to a hidden 54€ "service charge". The booking is IMMEDIATELY non-refundable and cannot be cancelled or modified. Stay away from this crowd at all costs!

I booked a room at Holiday Inn Express & Suites through Booking.com and the room charge was $226.25 to be billed at the time of checkout with cancellation allowed up to the day before occupancy. Thirty minutes later I realized I needed another reservation for the tail end of my trip. I went back on line and thought I was utilizing the same booking service. It looked the same but I have since been informed that it was getaroom.com. The room rate was higher but I assumed that was due to the date. The trip was cancelled and cancellation with booking.com was accomplished without a problem. Getaroom.com refused any refund and kept the entire $310.58 even though they only would have been entitled to a small fee if the room was not cancelled. I will pursue a remedy from my credit card company and hope that other travelers will not be trapped in their web of deceit.

I booked a room for for $159.00 and the end price was $351.00. When I wanted to cancel 45 days ahead of check in date they charged me $241.00 to cancel and refunded me $103.00. I tried to change the check in date instead of cancelling and they told me because the reservation was already paid for they could not accommodate that. Horrible business!

Getaroom scammed us for double the cost of a regular room. They're currently being sued by multiple people.

I was able to find a great low price on my hotel stay
Absolute robbery from this company. My sister had a baby so my husband and I drove hours to get to meet her. I thought we had a place to stay at her and her husband's house, but for some reason were rejected from staying with them. Over my tears in the hospital parking lot, late at night, after hours of driving, I was looking at hotel options and was simply trying to see the final price on my phone and accidentally booked a room which I immediately cancelled. To save almost $200 my husband and I slept on the couch and floor of my other sister's small apartment.
Later that week I noticed the charge on my card, which I immediately disputed as we didn't stay at the hotel. I just received a notice that the charge would be reinstated even though I received zero services or product. It's absolute robbery. I would be willing to take a credit, but to get absolutely NOTHING for $189 is ROBBERY.

So I found a town at the halfway point of are family vacation. Then looked that hotel up. Went to the hotels main page. Booked the 2 rooms. When I put my card info in and hit submit. I could not belive I was charged another $150 that was not disclosed before I made the payment come to find out the hotel said I booked 3rd party. I told them no I booked on yalls site. Within 10 minutes I finally get ahold of someone with getaroom. They tell me it's not refundable. Like I told the dude. If I knew it was going to be almost 160$ more before I submitted payment I wouldn't have done it. But hey pretty much same situation of what I read on the class action lawsuit filled against them. I will still be fighting this. A 2 room one night stay $460. They are a scam and dirty business. I work hard for my money to take my family places. Do the right thing getaroom...
The site charged me twice and then told me it was my fault. Then hung up on me three time and told me that there was nothing that could do. Extremely rude and not refunded my money or did not give me a discount. Asked me if I knew how to read ( Ivan)

Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
