After my initial review of 1 star and my complaint, get a room.com was very prompt in calling me and refunding my money. I will consider using them again.
If I could give Getaroom.com a zero I would. Like so many we were forced to cancel our Hotel and International flights reservations because of the Corona Virus Pandemic. We had planned a Rockies fly drive that included 17 hotel bookings using different agents such as Booking.com and Hotel.com. ALL EXCEPT Getaroom.com gave an exceptional service refunding our deposits promptely. As our only income is a UK pension, we have to avoid expensive international calls therefore we have emailed at least 8 times to date once receiving Cancellation number ******* from QA Rep Brana on April 9th stating we would get a response in 7 days, since then we, despite multiple emails, have had zero response. I wonder if founders David Litman and Bob Diener, Dallas are proud of the company they started. I contacted Best Western, Billings and they confirmed they do not hold deposits. I will not go away but keep trying to get our $155 back, so will use all WW reviews sites to share my poor experience using this company. I am not optimistic after reading the bulk standard computer generated response to other similar complaints.

I was rushed to book a room in a few minutes between meetings. I searched for a room in Ely Nevada (for my wife) at a brand hotel and the room came up with Nevada in bold letters, but I realized after booking that it was in the town of Nevada, Missouri. Not very useful. Then I noticed this was not the hotel website, and getaroom has no provision for mistaken booking cancellation. Their website could not locate my reservation but I found a phone number for them on my credit card web page. I phoned that, spoke with a thickly accented (Caribbean?, Jamaican?) woman, very polite but insistent than I could not cancel with refund. When I insisted she transferred me to a sleepy sounding man who confirmed they don't refund and then transferred me to a 3rd man who also said they would not refund.
Fine. I will cancel the charge at American Express and I promised to write a review, this one.

Thought I got a great deal on hotel only to have large tax of 70 plus dollars. Checked out hotel website and was cheaper by 70 dollars. Booked room and canceled original booked room with in 1 day. Only few rooms left in smaller town d/t hockey and wrestling tournament on same day that's why I did not cancel first then re-book. Either way wouldn't have worked would have still would have been charged. The count down clock even said I had 1 hour left to cancel! Several attempts made to find number and emails to get refund. All numbers were automated lines and dead end. No return emails. Disputed with credit card and now Get a Room refuses to return refund even though originally posted cancel up to 24 hour prior to date of stay originally when clicking on room! So had 2 charges and only one room. Still have yet to get to talk to a person or have an email from company. Note to all readers: HOTEL WEB SITE ONLY!

What started as a nightmare without a reservation number, a way to cancel my room or even be able to discuss my issue with anyone with getaroom.com ended up with a happy resolution. My expectations started off pretty low but I eventually was pushed through to a customer care representative that was able to listen to my issues and provide reassurance and a resolution that was more than I expected. It has been a relief and a weight lifted off my mind. My hope is that any future business done with getaroom.com will be the best of experiences.

I reserved a room at the Holiday Inn in Old Town Alexandria VA in March of this year. I thought I was speaking to the reservation desk at Holiday Inn but some how got switched to Get-A-Room Reservations; the person did not identify themselves as a representative of Get-A-Room, nor did they say I would be charged any additional fees. However when I received my credit card statement I discovered that I was charged a reservation fee beyond the regular rate at the Holiday Inn. After communicating with the Get-A-Room Headquarters about my concerns they were kind enough to refund me the majority of that fee and charge me only $10 for the reservation, a fee that I feel is fair.

Horrible customer service! Tried to change reservations 4 days before nobody could help could never get anyone on the phone. When we asked to speak with a manager they said none were available.

I attempted to to book a room at a London hotel. I thought I was dealing with the hotel directly but was tricked by the website set up into inadvertenly using GetARoom. When I was forced to cancel as a consequence of the
Coronavirus Get ARoom have so far to refund any of the fees. My advice is firstly NEVER on any account use
GetARoom and make sure you only deal with the hotel directly

Worst customer service ever dealt with. This company mislead me as I was booking with a hotel and they hijacked my reservation, they are criminals!

Booked a room with hampton inn and some how these guys ended up with my money, had to cancel reservations due to coronavirus and these people will not refund my purchase, even though the hotel canceled the reservations without any problems... guess I need to leave the hotel a bad review for allowing these getaroom guys to partner with them!
On March 28 I was told I would be receiving my refund within 3-5 business days. It is now April 14th and I have not received the refund. I have read many of these reviews and they all say the same thing about this company. I understand it may take longer because of the pandemic but I am also concerned that this is just a scam so that we get tired of waiting and forget about it. I believe that we all need to start filing complaints with the Better Business Bureau.

To start with, for my original reservation I only ended up using GetARoom through deceptive advertising... I Googled the resort name and thought I was dealing with them directly. Then when Covid-19 messed up our plans, it's been nothing but a headache dealing with their customer service. Even though I've confirmed my email address, I've never received any email confirmation of my transactions. When they changed my reservation to further out to September they made me charge the room for the new reservation and said they'd refund the charges for my earlier reservation. The new charges went through, but I've yet to see a refund for the original reservation. I would never recommend this site to anyone

They promised refund, then say they have no refund policy. After a month, getaroom says the hotel wouldn't refund money and there is nothing they can do, I cancelled within weeks of advance of our trip. Plus, I talked to hotel directly and they say it's getaroom.com who is trying to keep the money. SHADY COMPANY and I will be reviewing them on every site I have access along with filing a official complaint!

I booked a better price here ("free cancellation" through TripAdvisor) than any of the other sites & when I decided to cancel bc of covid-19, I called the help desk & they answered very quickly & refund was back on my card within days.

I have been trying to get a refund since March when spring training was cancelled in AZ. The hotel (BW) said they would give a refund if Get-A-Room would call them - you cannot get anyone to answer the phone - just round robin phone tree. Finally got my refund - 23 days later

Be very aware of this Co, I was redirected to this Co when making a reservation to a name brand Hotel. This reservation I made was 3 weeks before the Hotel I was staying at closed due to the pandemic. Thank God I called the Hotel before leaving home only to find out they were closed down from the pandemic and governors ruling. I called Getaroom to let them know the hotel was closed and wanted a refund, The agent at getaroom opened a ticket and thats the last I heard until I called them back 2 weeks later to let them know I have not received a refund. The agent said she wasn't sure if the hotel charged getaroom and if they have I would need to go through the hotel to get a refund. I told her I spoke to the hotel and they never got paid nor did they charge getaroom for this reservation. The getaroom agent tried to call the hotel to verify but said she could not get through. I told her i just got off the phone with the hotel reservation desk and to try again, The agent refused and told me to call back on April 15th, Why this date I don't know. The Hotel was extremely nice and told me to Beware of this Company they have had a lot of complaints. My Trouble ticket with getaroom is R*******866 Getaroom please make this right!

I have been trying to get a refund for my trip to Disney which was canceled due to Covid 19. I had no idea when booking this trip on line that I was being redirected to Get A Room. After countless hours waiting on hold and providing proof that the hotel was honoring all refunds I have still not received my refund. Not to mention that the hotel has since closed. This company has my money and I have now been forced to file a complaint with the BBB and dispute the charge with my credit card company. I will never book another hotel online as a result of this nightmare. I understand volumes are high but the inability of these companies to respond and issue refunds appropriately is unbelievable.

Only after I posted the below review did I finally get someone to respond to me. They promised me a refund within 3-5 business days. And "please remove your bad review". Well to date 12 business days later I still DO NOT have a refund. I have placed a dispute with my CC company and an official complaint with the BBB. This company is terrible.
DO NOT USE! I was unaware I was booking with them. I was on the hotel website and somehow I booked with them. Needed to cancel my reservation because of COVID-19, and I'm getting the run around. The hotel Caribe Royal in Orlando told me they could see my reservation but I needed to cancel with Get A Room. I called and they said I would hear in 24hrs, almost a month later I'm still calling and was told I needed to contact "their affiliate" Reservation Counter for my refund. Reservation Counter does not see my reservation. What a JOKE BOTH companies are. The worst part is the HOTEL IS CLOSED! I could not go even if I wanted to. They are scammers and ripping people off. Disputing with my CC Company.

Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
